Kansas City, pick some mains or quit already

KC is the worst place to live if you want to play fighting games in the arcade.

If you insist on playing SFIV in an arcade, FFC has SFIV on their 360 cab setup. Charges a quarter for two minutes of play, something tells me the timer has fucked up a combo or two…

damn 2 minutes thats skeet, would be wierd paying to pay like that on console, but cool to play in the cade. It was amazing playing down at UFO, head to head cabs are godlike.

Good shit to benra and liquid for coming out, team tourny was alot of fun and a HUGE success. Nobody left, couldnt believe it.

Drew - Glad you had fun on your birthday my friend. I hope that Nestle ice cream was an adequate present. I would have stayed longer, but Beth was REALLY having a hard time staying awake, it was torture for her, she was up at like 6 am yesterday.

Good shit in SF as always. I’m not necessarily giving up on Ryu, just exploring other options a bit. Chun feels incredibly natural to me, and I’m comfortable with her, so I’m going to give her a serious try in the next tournament, and see what happens. In the meantime, I’ll try tuning up my asstastic Viper. Thanks for the dose of truth.

Kong - A beast as always. Thank you very much for the help at the end of the session. Your homemade juice is pretty much amazing. I look forward to being able to contribute to it in due time. :china: Thanks for the props on my baby Chun. Your play inspired me man, or I probably wouldn’t have gone back to her for another try. See you next Friday.

Oh and… (FP SRK) “YEEEAAAHHHH!!!” Too good…

Robert/Delmari - Nice to meet you, sir. You’re welcome back anytime. Good Abel too.

Sean/Boxy - Did we play at all? On SF, I mean. I think all we REALLY played was Tekken. By the way… don’t play me when you’re drunk anymore, haha. I’ll get you up to speed on that Capo Vs Steve matchup before the next tournament.

Y’all missed out. Aerial Rave was pretty small (22 I think), but that resulted in almost everyone there being pretty solid, with a lot being very, very good. It was kind of like skipping the first few rounds at a large tournament where you fight the scrubs, just deep in there fighting killers. I didn’t do very well this time around, that just means I gotta hit the gym even harder this next month or so before mwc. Also there was a team tournament which was really fun.

Oh yeah, several people asked why you didn’t come, Kong. You definitely left an impression at mash out. Some wanted a rematch, others wanted to get a shot at you.

Trying to use viper eh?

Practice that Seismo xx sjc xxx bk
Seismo xx seismo
Feints
instant bk

She is really fun, you may never go back and you can kick ass in style.

How often do you guys get together to play? Nobody in this bullshit town I live in plays.

I had some business I had to take care of pertaining the accident I was in a couple of months ago.

I know for sure we play on Friday’s at Axiom’s place. Chachi hosts too but lately he’s been saying he gets lonely there . Jspot hosts, too. but I’m not sure what days he does it. There’s at least one hook up a week. That’s for sure.

Masaki - I can already do all that 100%. The things I have problems with:

  • C.FP -> FP TK xx C.FP -> EX Seismo xx SJC -> BK -> Ultra <— I can’t do the cancels into C.FP correctly every time, and it’s making me miss BIG damage opportunities.
  • C.MK -> Ultra (Also MP/FP variations)
  • Zoning properly (People jump over my seismos, and I get annihilated.)
  • Anti Air (FP TK gets cleanly beat out by a lot of people, especially if they’re already deep in their jump in)
  • Using Focus… at all… (It’s the most garbage focus. Coming from Fei Long right off the bat, I got focus happy, and now I lose half my life bar every time I even THINK to do a focus.)
  • Crossing up, I think the only viable option is BK, because any time I try to do HK, or MK, I get beat out after I hit the ground.

Basically, I’m a Viper scrub that can hit basic combos. I know she’ll take longer to adapt to than anyone else in the cast, but my patience is being tried when every time I pick her I get raped by pretty much anyone, and when I pick Ryu or Chun I do my best.

We’ll see. I’ll keep at it.

Rabbit - We do Friday night hookups at my place every week. It’s the biggest weekly in KC, and you’ll find great matches, and good help. Hit me up if you want to make it out to one, I’m located at the 75th and Quivira intersection in Lenexa, KS.

You have to be able to do feints 100% of the time, that is one of my problem

And Seismo xx BK i still need to in grain it into my mind. its up to about 70% of the time

Then its just basic link stuff, I dont have the rhythm quite down.

You would be surprised at how effect cr.mp xx mp.tk, cant remember off the top of my head it trades with everything except tiger knee and when it does its in your favor. has wicked recovery time too.

C.Viper boards help alot.

I have been away from SF IV and fighting games for so long my execution of basic things like links is shot to hell. lol

Don’t give up, she is the most difficult character to learn in SFIV.

c. short, c. jab, dp xx fadc xx mets is a pain in the ass to pull off, but c. short xx dp xx fadc xx mets comes out nice and easy. Is the c. jab link really necessary?

Also, I like how online warriors bitch over the mic about how I only play Ryu, but when I try to do random select to spice things up and have fun, they run to their mains while laughing maniacally. They like to peace out after they get that win too.

This game is trash, let’s go back to OG ST (because calling it vanilla would implicate some sort of problem)

with viper:

its much easier imo to just do c.hp->mp tk feint->c.hp than messing with the hp tk feint.

plus if you dont get the feint you get a mp tk which is much better than a wiffed hp tk.

with ryu:

the c.lk->c.lp->dp is nice just cause its an easy hit confirm. Are you trying to cancel from the c.lp into dp or link into dp cause its much easier to link the dp.

what humbag said, learning to hit confirm is a must in 4, he is also right that you can chain the two jabs and then pause and dp rather than trying to cancel from a linked second jab.

you should also put in some time on c.mp, c.mp xx fireball or c.mp, c.mk xx fireball…its so good, if they block the first c.mp the second is a frame trap that will stuff anything that’s not a dp

Just have a hard time getting the link timing down, half the time I get another jab or the DP comes out late (or not at all when I’m playing against Gief or flowchart).

c. mk xx fireball is already part of my complete breakfast, mps I do every once in awhile (another thing that I never have luck with against Gief or flowchart)

yeah clk, clp, dp isnt too hard. Well its not hard at all, u might not be linking the dp. Its all real slow. Hardest link for me is clp, cmk for some reason.

Humbag - Thanks, I’ll try that the next time I throw down for some Viper grinding.

Yeah, I put some hours in practice mode for Ryu and Chun tonight, and I took Rex’s advice and really grinded on that c.lk, c.lp, dp xx (whatever the fuck you want)

It’s not too bad at all. Even for a pad player who consistently fucks up and throws SRK’s when I’m trying to fireball, and vice versa, I was hitting crossup, c.lk, c.lp, dp, FADC, Ultra or just random crouching jab strings into it. On most non smalls I noticed it’s also possible to do: c.lp, c.lp, c.lp, Fierce DP into whatever. (the Short SRK whiffs)

I think the hardest part was crushing out the habit of mashing jabs out in desperation. The jabs are actually incredibly slow, almost slow enough that they’re able to block it.

This was an incredibly vital thing missing from my shoto game that I got down pat now. Hopefully I’ll keep it up till the next session.

Lyquid - c.mp, c.mp, fireball as a frame trap huh? Hm… I like that, I’ll try and implement it. Thanks for the idea.

Rabbit2k7- i host up north. feel free to join sometime. i usually post when we hook up. im at 72nd n N.Oak

pm me you number so you can get the mass txts when i have my impromptu hookups

Kong- where you been at man? you came to a few of my hookups and disappeared! i know we are NO challenge for you but your skill makes us better! Also we could have used someone to take chachi off the sticks last week… fukken chachi

You always do the hook ups when I’m busy that night .

anyone who has played against me knows that my main is El Fuerte. i can pull off the RSF Loop in training mode but have TONS of trouble even finding places to start it up in actual matches. especially against shotos… fukken chachi

anyone else playing El Fuerte? am i the only one.

my other main, random, is doing well but i like Fuerte better
