Nah, we just had to shove the setups out the door. If only musicians were cool with the whole “not being the focal point of attention” thing.
I’m only going to be available Fridays and Saturdays for offline hookups for the next few weeks starting Monday. I’ll probably be on doing some training mode bullshit during afternoons/early evenings though, so if you want to do some local online matches hit me up.
Yo, about the Dose kicking people out: We’re not kicking anyone out. People are welcome to stay and chill, have some drinks, etc. We just needed to get those setups cleaned up and things rearranged because, within 30 mins after you guys took off, the bar was jammed up, to capacity, no free seats in front, or back. We get BUSY on live music nights.
Now, I worked to schedule the next tournament on a day we didn’t have an act. My boss decided to book AFTER I had already talked to her about the tournament. She was cool about us doing it, as long as we got shit packed up fast. That was the stipulation. In this case, since she liked the turnout, she’s letting me pick whatever date I want. So, I’m going for a clear schedule date so we may be able to keep a setup or two going after the tourney is over. It’s a POSSIBILITY, but I’m not making promises at this point.
No one HAS to leave when the tournies end, we just have to pack up setups. You are all fully welcome to become customers at our bar,
I don’t mean to brag, but I’m pretty much amazing at mixing drinks. Hit me up for one of the best buzzes of your life next tournament.
Ggs last night at Spottswood Coliseum. Sorry I left so early and abruptly. Jennie was having automotive issues to an extent. Had to pick her up from the gas station by our house because she did not feel safe driving home. She had just got back from her neurologist who decided that injecting her head with Novocain was a good idea to help her migraine issues. Yeah, kinda weird on the outset, but once I heard the full explanation, it all made sense. No worries, we both got home and our vehicles home safe just in time for me to have to walk right out the door to go to work Next time, Ill just drive her there myself.
It was cool to see Chachi and meet who I believe was Delamario(?) at Jspots. Awesome fun. I hear Jspots arcade screen got cracked, perhaps the tearing got very intense?
Im actually looking forward to seeing it this Saturday. Judging from the trailers Ive seen, it looks very promising. And yep, yours truly is a Trekkie! :bgrin:
Cool, I might try one.
Finally, Ive come to the realization that yes, I am a noob. at competitive fighting games. In light of that, Ive found a really good thread on the basics of SF4 here:
This is the kind of info Ive been searching for, for quite a while now. I understand its a good refresher of sorts for people who already know this stuff. If you know of any other info that would add to the noob thread, then please post it there. Us noobs need all the help we can getWe are only mere mortals in a land of giants and gods.
i didnt mount my speakers… one fell out and hit the screen- CRACK
buying a new one tonight hopefully
GGs- Delmari, good to meet you and youre welcome over anytime. i know you want revenge on my fuerte. how’d ya like my setup?
the usual fuck you to chachi for the rape clinic you put us through. i got one win on ya… the entire night… chachi only lost once. fuckface!! GGs none the less. also im glad you liked the new buttons.
GGs- luigi as always. your claw is getting way better. my guile is still tops. HA! yes that is a challenge
so ya… off to buy a new TV, a few sheets of plexi-glass, and mounting my speakers.
(never got around to doing this cuz i was too busy playing street fighter)
good to meet you all last night! J-I’ll be back to tackle fuerte whenever you’re ready! EX REKKA!!! everyone else who was there, nice to meet you and see you again. hit me up if anyone’s playin this weekend.
lol KC are you going to columbia tonight instead of STL?
Thats scary yo, but id do the same thing on the real. Secret training sessions only work if you work it though…If you guys need training u coulda just asked me, its simple-
Ben-ra- work on comboing after ex rush upper, ex overhead, work on getting c.lp,c.lp,c.lk headbutt xx ultra off of every random clp. Dont mash the clp, because then it chains, its ok to press it just do it so it links and u can combo off it. But dont press it till u see they walking towards you or something. Use chp as anti air.
Chachi- work on hitting clk, clp, dp xx ultra everytime. Work on fireball zoning and anti air game. Dont mash clp. Get links and corner combos down.
Dont be offended by the post above, i was just trying my hand at some money making mentoring :D. Seriously tho that would be my advice, practice that shit tonight esp if you in training.
GGs last night everyone, especially the flowchart mirrors. YEEEAAAAH
John- I guess you’re finally letting me keep boring ass Ryu to myself. I think Chun fits your style better though. We got most of our feedback out on the way to Westport, so I don’t have much to add. GGs, and thanks for being the DD last night.
Sean- Cammy is getting trickier, but you gotta work on staying solid when you get behind. Same goes for me as well.
Kong- I think I’m getting more comfortable with the Ryu-Chun matchup, it’s still hard work but at least I know I have tools that will keep me from getting picked clean. Clint said something about how you play Chun like you play Soul Calibur, that was when the light finally came on for me. Maybe I should pay him $20 for the advice. Speaking of which…
Clint- Thanks for the ride back, I owe you a pizza or something.
Shawn- GGs in Guilty Gear, your Testament has potential. I’m sure you’re tired of hearing that, but next time you’ll be beating me a lot more I bet.
Jesse, Chris- Shame on you for not coming out, you missed the Kong Show. You didn’t miss much from me, I was playing like ass all night.
Ben, Afro- Good luck in STL today, get that top 8. STL is too fraaay
Good shit everyone. Next time my ken won’t be so flowchart-y. Maybe next time I’ll find a button other than my FP button lol.
John- Giving me such a hard time at the chun mirrors lol. I forgot how low chun goes and I was using all the high pokes. I’ll have to keep that in mind next time. Good shit though.
Sean-I hate your ultras. Nuff said lol.
Drew- What Clint said is actually pretty true. I generally prefer a more poking and evasive type gameplay. I play Chun pretty similar to how I play my 2 SC characters. I was trying out a new play style last night and I’ve come to really like it but it needs little bit more refining. That cr.mk beats out a lot of my most used pokes and by the end of the night I was trying different ways on countering that poke. Don’t worry though, I just found some answers to that poke .
Delmari- Your real name is Robert right? Nice, reppin the Abel. Hopefully we see you more around.
Whoever didn’t come out last night, I better you see you next time.
Speaking of feedback, I really liked how we just went into training mode at the end and explain stuff and what not. I really do think we need to do that more often. Just take a step back and just talk about how we played and shit more.
Are there any arcades in KC with SFIV? I live an hour north of KC and I would love to make the trip to get some games in. Online is making me a terrible player and my RAGE for online play is ever growing.
