Hm, does anyone want to have a city Tournement in KC between 9/3- 9/6? 3vs3.
St. Lo? St. Joseph? Columbia? Omaha? And everyone else in between 
Trance, someone else just brought up the idea about MVC2 tourney, and you’re right, I can’t really have the word “evo” in the title of the tournament without having an MVC2 tourney. If enought people show interest in MVC2, I’ll be happy to try and make it happen. The cabinet here for MVC2 isn’t too bad, just not much room for 2 people. Plus, since Evo have MVC2 on console, I’ll try to have MVC2 on console if it gets enough interest.
What do you guys think about having the tournament next weekend? August 5th? Would you guys show up then?

Heh, you know Adrian and I are down with that. It’s finding another “city” to stand against us that would be the problem. Haven’t heard anything from the St Joe crew in a motherfucking while, and St Louis, well I don’t believe that they are competetive in MvC2 any longer, though I could be mistaken.
Omaha is 3rd Strike only pretty much, and as everyone know we don’t have a 3rd Strike machine here in KC, barring random hole in the wall places.
It would definitely be VERY interesting IMO if we could do this and also convince PP management to hook the MvC2 machine up to the projector so everyone can really see what is going on when peeps are playing.
It would be nice if we could rent out the PP banquet hall to have a tournament in. It’s just a matter of wheeling in the MvC2 cab into the hall, as well as finding people to donate TVs, PS2s (for the other games of course), and arcade boards. Maybe even an SNES or two so we can get a TMNT Tournament Fighter tourney going.
Something tells me the owner won’t go for it unless he gets a decent cut, but it never hurts to ask.

The stuff you are thinkin about is what I’ve always wanted to do but it’s just way too expensive, its hard to do all that stuff and still have prizemoney. I want to be able to eventually get to that point and have a really reputable tournament here, like have it in a nice place with 15 or so TV’s and a BYOC area and shit, but I still have to get a good feel for tournements.
The thing I’m looking for here is attendance, I want to see a lot of people here, and maybe, if we get good response, I’ll try to rent someplace out or something, but thats far ahead, I gotta keep concentrated on this tourney.

I talked with Chas (the Owner) about this back when PP first opened and he said it wouldn’t be a problem, he’d even do this for free so as long as we got a decent crowd and made sure people would eat there (like in the Buffet and at TCBY) as well as all got cards (which they’d need anyway) to play games. We could have any games we wanted/needed wheeled in the room for our exclusive use.
Now, with that said, keep in mind this was a year and four months ago, so it is entirely possible he will have ‘selective’ memory on this verbal agreement and this may not be the case. However, Chas has remained cool pretty much the entire time so I think something nice could be worked out here.
BUT, this all leads back to the primary problems, and is why I never took him up on this offer to begin with.
- We have ONLY MvC2. And, while Chas is cool, the game people aren’t and don’t seem to care anymore.
- Even MvC2’s interest is severly waning. Leaving Chaz and Myself as the only two locally who even care remotely about it.
- Sure, I’d be down for throwing other tournaments on consoles… But then this begs the question of why even have it at PowerPlay at all? Just for MvC2? That’s not something most people would want to do considering it won’t be technically free to have the tournament.

Yeah they’re back up and running, and I’m pretty sure they have all the same games as before, so they should have 3s.
yep its going now… they moved from the mall…didn’t know if you knew that or not…they have 3rd strike , mvc2 and gg xx slash(i think thats the one)… though the button configuration is crazy
