Yes there are, we just aren’t as active in 2007 as we were in 2000-2005. 
lol i knew someone would respond to that comment…my bad… its’ the same way on smashboards… there are like 5 of us that respond…but the community is pretty big. Lot of times we just lack initiative to do tourneys and such tho…except for Saturday nites at my place…which is in kansas city btw (wonders where other people are from…).
Haha, I get together with people all the time. I wouldn’t mind playing you guys. It will be funny when I tell Melissa I’m going over to Dave and Jessicas to play fighters. I have quite a few different groups I play fighters with already. I didn’t know you guys were going to get a arcade cab though. That must be nice. Are you guys interested in Guilty Gear at all? I also post on Tekken Zaibatsu and there’s more people on there. I would say there’s about 10-12 people in the area that play Tekken other than me. If you guys wanted to do 2D any time soon, I would love to make an appearance on a Saturday night.

Relatively new (gulp) console gaming center right up the road from where I live. Could be a good spot to host local GG/SF tourneys if they let us bring PS2s…
Wow…that looks like a cool venue…wonder how long they’ll stay in business all those places seem to come and go like the seasons lol. Hopefully they’ll be around for a while seems like they’re open to hosting events too. 
and Josh: GG is probably the sweetest looking game I’ve seen…but I don’t own it lol. I’ve just seen it at the tournaments I’ve been to and it looks preeetty coool.

That was more directed towards SJ’s laughing at noobs posting in the Smash board. I’d like to think it’s because of guys posting they want to play/learn certain games and then never meet up in person (I know I’ve been guilty of that), and not because of any arrogance the established players may have.
It’s been kind of like that here as well with new posters as far as I know. Has anybody met up with Korporate Deathpool or Just Saul? I have yet to play those guys…
As far as hosting an event at the gaming center goes, I would hope they would be open to letting us bring our own shit, especially if we’re paying good money to rent the place out for one night. I wouldn’t mind signing a waiver or two to do so. Only other thing I would ask is that we would be able to adjust the resolution on the TVs (high-def flatscreens= hella lag).
yeah we’re really not that mean i just laugh cause most of them either never come and play, boast about how good they are come and play once…and then never show up again or they just come off as being innocently funny haha. It’s one of those things where getting into the game takes a lot of resolve, as I’m sure it does learning many fighting games but most people don’t stick around for a variety of reasons.
do a lot of 2d fighters suffer from the same lag from High Def screens too? I dont’ know much about that but many of the new gaming centers only feature fancy pants plasmas/hi def screens… one reason it’s hard to rent out a place like this for at least smash tourneys…didn’t know 2D fighters and the sort had that problem too…
BTW does anyone go to any of the neighboring universities or anything?

Omaha’s been better than us at something for a long time. 3S to name the most notable. But they’ve been better than us at GG pretty much since day one too.
