Faust’s new shit is cool, but Eddie… :wow:
uh, the first 24 years of my life.
3s is still teh home of the O.NE, but it’s all about AC right now since its the only new arcade game we got at Family Fun Center. Marvel was apart of the “territory” back in '99/2002/2004-ish but that’s because they get tired of playing noobs in that and @ FFC they never kept the sticks working…like it is for 3s. so, the main O-players always play at either Simon or Jamars cribassuming. if we still had the people that were really good still playin marvel, we’d still participate in it, but meh… the only guy i know that still plays Marvel in Omaha is guy from Long Beach named Melvin, but that’s a whole other story…
was’nt aware of that but i dont doubt it, lol.
well then i guess i should be able to hang with yaw, lol.
i feel that Omaha has stepped up big time in regards of Guilty, but i dont pay too much attention to the 3s scene due to the fact that i could never get serious about playin that game. other than that, yea, AC is where it’s at in the O.
Hmmm, maybe you could hook up with Dan or someone else from St Joe and come down to play…
Also, yeah, Omaha planned out a tourney some time ago, then started changing details because of the owner of FFC, then totally changed the date after several people had purchased nonrefundable plane tickets. Showed no respect for players willing to come into town, thus they will likely never get a tourney past the local level again, ever.
Yeah um fuck Eddie. Like he needed to be any better.
Been playing GG like a fiend lately, and if anyone wants to play (not just GG) I may be able to actually host a game night sometime in the next month.
I might be able to host games next Tuesday or Wednesday, on the condition that I’m able to secure a lawnmower by then. Can’t believe the one I have now crapped out after only a year. Living room is a lot nicer now though. Same shit in it, but the floors have been refinished, and everything has been rearranged to give the impression that I actually have my shit together.
never even heard about that one, lol, wow. funny but i seriously dont doubt that this happend. i’ve heard shyt about when Japan players came to Omaha, got props, but got them quickly taken away due to a certain person started trash talking the players which is a big no-no. respect can be hard to come by from a few of the players. i dont think they do it intentionally but i’ve noticed that shyt from time to time, mainly from Simon, YooYoung. if they feel that they’re better than you then you get no respect, and if you happen to be better than them while they felt at the time you were a scrub, oh, then they get mad! then that’s when hear all the complaints like, “oh, this button is fucked up” or “i have’nt been playin this game that much for such-n-such reason”. yea, so nothin new there:lol:.
Plus, a lot of the bullshyt is coming from the owner of FFC. that’s what killed the whole tourney scene especially with repairs, new games, and lack of advertisement for the monthly tourneys back in early '00 years.
yea, but that’s why most of them do a lot of traveling to Chi-Town. they get a lot of love there from the Chi-players and plus that general area is where evo north is held so… they qualify like every year that they enter. must be doin somethin right.
now as to never having any outside local area tourneys ever again, that’s sayin way too much. a lot of the cats from Colorado and Iowa (Klaige) still hit up Omaha from time to time. just never anything extremly big for tourneys unless it’s some Unreal/WoW/ect. bullshyt. sorry, not into shooters

And then go to the carnage tab… Zero deaths! That was silly.
Something about sniping gets under my skin. Even when I won or placed high in a snipers-only match, I still felt worn out by the whole ordeal. I think my ADD flares up when I play FPS, since I like to keep shit close to mid range and run around like crazy…
i live in st. joe…play mvc2 and 3rd strike mostly though… not skilled enough for gg
don’t consider myself a redneck me and a couple friends play on weekends usually
ls, chachi, jimmy
i gave in and bought halo 3… i couldn’t resist…too much to do in that game to not buy it…you guys can own me at it because i’m pretty much a newb at halo
Who’s ready to play me in GGXX:Accent Core? Sorry Drew, I forgot I had some stuff to do today. We’ll play next week.
It’s cool, I’ll have Halo to keep me busy until then.
Thanks to some “special project” at work, I can make myself available for any casual gathering on Friday or Saturday this month, preferably for those involving Accent Core. I want to show you the progress I’ve made in the last few weeks (if any).
i’ll be the judge of that, lol.
when i’m not too busy working @ Triumph, then i mite need to set up a gamming nite.
sounds good…just let me know
This feels really weird. I have been a member of smashboards.com (the equivalent of a smash bros forum like this one) for almost three years and n00bs come into our KC board all the time…and I just kinda laugh… However:
My crew and I who are a mostly Smash Bros tournament based crew have been starting to branch out and really learn some other games. I’m mostly interested in Street Fighter III Third Strike. My bf and I built an arcade cabinet and installed Mame so we have a lot of those kinds of 2D fighters…I just find this one the most fun.
Just for future reference is there a place where you guys meet in KC? (Or just at places like powerplay in Shawnee or someones house?-I used to live in Shawnee but we’re out in Kansas City now). WE meet every Saturday it’d be cool to get a mix of fighting games going at some point in time… maybe even get a mini fighter tournament scene going in KC. Who knows!
Well this was a lengthy introduction.
Peace
Well, I will ask this first, define built an arcade cabinet. Competition sticks? Dimensions? Pics?
As far as 3rd Strike goes, I would be major novice level, meaning I could really only do basic SF shit on it. However I would guarantee that I can beat people who have just started playing.
If you want higher level comp past that point though, I don’t know what to tell you.
I don’t think KC’s 2D fighting scene has the luxury of turning away new players. I would love to see more people come out of the woodwork for 3S and GG, even if they are beginners at the game. Can’t say the same for Marvel though- I tried getting into it but I was a little too far behind. Plus I couldn’t combo to save my life. I still play it from time to time, but I won’t be getting Christmas cards from good Marvel players anytime soon…
I haven’t played 3S against anyone other than a couple of Xbox Live scrubs in a long time, but I wouldn’t mind dusting it off at the next gaming get together (where/whenever that may be). I used to play it all the time, but I think I’ve fallen off by the wayside in that game since I’m more interested in playing Guilty Gear and Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
There are 3 dedicated 3S players in KC that I know about that aren’t necessarily textbook, but will take it to you if you’re not careful. Only problems are A) only one of them posts here, and only in the Xbox Live forum, and B) they only want to play on Xbox because they’re too used to playing on that damn Controller S pad. I can’t do shit on one of those, but to each their own I guess.
by built i mean… we purchased an old Power Instinct original arcade machine. Gutted it, installed a new monitor, purchased a computer for it, installed MAME (multiple arcade machine emulator) which houses emulators for snes, nes, sega and then a HUGE list of old arcade games and bought an X-arcade pad (2 person w/ 8 buttons each) for it…however upon realizing the shitty quality x-arcades joysticks we re-installed the higher quality power instinct controller joysticks. We’re still in the process of repainting it…
You said you’re not sure about how many Third Strike players there are, what do you guys play?
And MvC is pretty cool (We have that on there too)… SF III3S seems a little more balanced I guess? Iunno… thats just what my bf thinks and really I don’t know the difference yet cause I’m super n00b lol…and Street Fighter was the first fighting game I played when I was a kid so I guess it’s got a little nostalgia bonus (at least w/ characters) in there haha

Nice looking cab. So I’m assuming you get together at Dave’s place for Smash. My girlfriend is best friends with his girlfriend. We were going to come over last Saturday since we were going to hang with Jessica and Dave, but we were busy. I don’t think Dave is that interested in other 3D games, and I don’t know who else could host. I play GGXX:Accent Core, MK2 & MK3, Tekken 5:DR, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and a little bit of Marvel vs Capcom 2. If you guys want to play any of those, I’m down for that. By the way, I’m Josh (Melissa’s BF) if you want to ask Dave who I am just for reference.
LOLLOL Josh? haha
This is Jesi. I was reading your post and was like “wtf…there aren’t any girls that are best friends w/ me that would have any connection to this… OH”
Man there aren’t a whole lot of people on these boards are there lol
Yeah you guys should totally come over sometime. I’m interested in getting a whole game/fight league kinda thing going. I think it would be kick ass if we could do a Mini Evo Type thing… I went to evo north had a lot of fun.
And as of late Dave has been interested in some of these 2D’s since we got the cabinet.
As far as those games we listed we have Street Fighter II turbo, MK1, 2, & 3 and just MvC1… the other ones are a little to new to be on that thing. But I wouldn’t mind hosting something some time it’s just that even tho there are people here that come for smash that are interested in other games…
we’re all terribly n00by haha (well not all of us there are a few that are okay) not to mention we only have 1 cabinet not an arcade and as much as we’d like to get another…no room :(. we have other gaming systems tho Well we’ll see maybe i’ll come to an event you all have some time.
peace
