Look at these original monster concepts by Matt Frank! I’d be okay if all the monsters were original if they’re up to this quality:

$100 donation now gets you all Kaiju Combat games, design team log-in, HD wallpaper, and a Logtiech gamepad:
Pretty good deal that.
If anyone is at Comic Con or G-Fest, we’ve got posters to give out…
I’m also going to be posting a few of these bad-boys at the local Shoryuken Lounge.
Will there be any way to get those posters after this weekend?
I can’t say no to giant monsters. And now I’m wondering where I put my copy of the Save The Earth
Lol oh shit, you’re from Eugene? i’ll be at the league downtown later today so maybe we can get a few games in. Me and a few friends actually started playing War of the Monsters lately and doing money-matches in that game. Its not the same but hey its still giant creatures going at it >.>
Also, there’s another local here that worked on the Godzilla unleashed game, whats with this city and Godzilla dudes?
There we go, did my part for the Kickstarter. Good luck!
Nice!
Now, with all this new-found kaiju hype with Pacific Rim and Godzilla being announced at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s prime time to get people behind this project!
Tell your buddies about this and get them to donate! Only 330k left to go!
I wasn’t down there today, but I’ll be down tomorrow afternoon for a bit. I have three Chinese exchange students staying with me this week, and I bet they’d love to hang out down there…
Pipeworks developed all the Godzilla games - I used to work for them (still contract with them not infrequently) so Eugene is actually pretty much Godzilla central. In fact, Eugene has one of the largest development populations in the country. Odd but true.
I’m a sucker for giant monsters with multiple heads and limbs(King Ghidorah is my favorite) and that 3 headed snake-turtle monster looks bananas.
You have my attention sir.
one question though, will this game be in the same format as those godzilla games or something new? I used to play destroy all monters Melee on my old gamecube and then save the earth on my Xbox, then I got unleashed on the Wii.
I guess you can say i’m a supporter of the series.
These characters better have some bitch’n Kaiju names like Kaizur or Prometheo or some shit.
and giant robots, cant have giant monsters without giant robots in this day and age.
Reading this reminds me of the other set of Tokusatsu-inspired news that made me giddy last week: EDF4 was (re-)confirmed by Sandlot (the original devs) and D3 last week. Few things make me feel more of a certified bad-ass than a series that basically pits one man (or woman) against incredible odds, like a huge-ass Kaiju that may have back-mounted laser cannons and etc.
Speaking of which, I wonder if D3 might be the kind of publisher you may want to hit up for projects like this. It sounds very much up their alley.
I love the godzilla games, I played’em all but the best monster combat game is

things like 5:27 are definitely welcome.
Maybe throw a little of that in there for variety and awesomeness
Though that really depends on the scale of your monsters, the ones in that game were king kong sized, big enough to easily climb buildings but not big enough to throw entire offices.
I personally liked climbing buildings…
@Pterodactyl - the game will be quite similar to Godzilla: Save the Earth, at least mechanically.
While I loved War of the Monsters for some elements - presentation, single-player campaign, great secrets, awesome aesthetics - I did NOT enjoy the moment-to-moment gamelpay. It was jut two simple combos, and the game quickly broke down to “who can get more health powerups while avoiding projectiles” - which made vs. matches stretch on FOREVER.
With that said - I’m absolutely looking into the possibility of using these characters in Kaiju Combat!
New direction for Kaiju Combat:
If you contribute any amount, you now get an exclusive HD wallpaper by Matt Frank whether the project meets its funding goal or not. Essentially a free HD wallpaper by Matt Frank, since no funds will be transferred if they don’t reach their goal (which at this point it likely won’t but that’s not stopping them)! They still need backers!
There will be a new Kickstarter in a few months with $100,000 goal. A few people who pay $500 through PayPal get to work with Matt Frank and Simon Strange on your original monster to be used to promote the game.
Also, the funds raised through PayPal will be used to create a website/forum/new video dedicated to Kaiju Combat.
I’d like to point out that we at VERY interested in getting members from the Fighting Game Community involved. I absolutely want Kaiju Combat to be a competitive-level fighting game, and getting fighting game veterans involved in the design process from the outset will be a big help.
i hope a super robot type would make it in the cast
I fucking love giant monsters. I will ceartaintly be keeping my eye on this. Competet*ve *or not who doesn’t enjoy kicking someones ass with a giant monster?
I think when you start releasing videos of the game is when the interest in it will start to grow, I can see them posted on the front page of SRK.
I certainly hope so. I have a bit of a boot-strapping problem right now - I can’t show any licensed monsters until I’ve paid the licensing fees… but I need to show my progress to help build interest… Argh!
We’re working on a plan. It will put us back about 2 months, but I suppose that’s a small(ish) price to pay.
How about any original characters you may have on hand? I mean, they may not be Godzilla or Gamera, but as long as you’re able to get your point across of where you’re going with this project, that should be suitable.
