Giant monsters? Fuck that shit. It’s all about the giant women.
Oh yeah - we ABSOLUTELY need to include a 50-woman type.
Here’s the plain truth - I messed up by launching the Kickstarter campaign on July 3rd. Almost all press folks have been taking a 5-day weekend, so we’re missing out on press almost entirely for the first 5-6 days of the campaign. That’s bad, because if 10,000 people visit after a week, and see that donations are low from the first week - that strongly influences them to not give themselves.
The BEST way to combat this is to get folks to just donate $1. Seriously - if 20 of you on shoryuken put yourselves down for $1 that does great things for our donation trend - because # of donors is more important than total $$. If you have any interest in this project at all, put yourself down for a small pledge.
And if we miss our finding goal - you lose nothing! (Because Kickstarter doesn’t actually charge anyone any money until the goal has been met with pledges.) Your small pledge totally helps us out. I can’t be more plain & honest than that.
50? Pff.
I don’t think I should talk about this anymore because this is gonna get in the way of me making my fighting game.
Did you donate your $1 towards seeing giant women fighting monsters? Giant. Muscular. Woman. In 3D.
Did you design Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee? I have some damn fine memories of that game. Donating without a doubt.
I’m already making a giant woman fighting game with all the good shit that I want. So no.
Try to message Keits to see if we can run this on the front page. Though you’ll still have to wait since it’s EVO and EVO news takes precedence…
That would be excellent. I’d love to get the fighting game community involved in the design of the game. I went to the opening of the local Shoryuken club this evening - it’s just 2 blocks from Sunstone Games’s offices! I can see some great cross-pollination potential…
Yeah, he did, and it’s much of the same team that worked on Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee and its sequels Godzilla: Save the Earth and Godzilla: Unleashed
You guys really should have tried to get on the EVO Indie Showcase.
This is a long shot but if you need concept art, I’d love to try my hand at it. Maybe sort of like a freelance type deal? I could do a few pieces free of charge or something then if you like what you see, I’d be willing to work for peanuts. I’ve got a couple pieces I can post up in here when I get back to my computer.

I give this project my full support. Destroy All Monsters surprised me, but it’s definitely one of my favorite 4-player brawlers.
Actually, I would be very happy to get some sweet original monster concept art if you had anything essentially ready to go. Our art director is doing some conventions this week and next, so he’s been a bit hard to coordinate with. I don’t want to mislead you by implying that we have a job opening - but if you wanted to contribute I would totally take a look at your stuff. Samples can be sent to simon.strange at sunstone.co
If anyone on this thread is local to the Eugene area - I’m going to head down to the Shoryuken lounge again this afternoon for a few hours. Catch me and we’ll throw down!
Totally wish I had the money to back it enough to provide voice acting.
I feel like this game would benefit highly from Norio Wakamoto and Macho Man Randy Savage impressions.
Heh, yeah that would be neat if you could choose between American or Japanese announcer voices.
The fact that you can choose character-specific Japanese or English voice-overs in SF4 and SFxT is pretty awesome.
I always thought the announcer voice in Godzilla: Unleashed was terrible - I’d gladly try something different if at all possible.
If you do have this character please include “Death by Snu Snu”, its a finishing move that could bring in 10x the amount of pledges. Actually, it even sounds like the perfect name for a monster/finishing move. “Snu Snu”
I would also like to contribute, by chance that I get to work with neoblood and a guy who made awesome godzilla games. It would be an honor. For free or for whatever, you have my money now take my art. Also you mentioned something about pledging 5 dollars to be on the design team?
Indeed - just use the backing page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/14214732/kaiju-combat
This also allows you to e-mail the dev team privately.
Good, I wasn’t the only one who thought that. Always thought it sounded too old/off. Destroy All Monsters Melee probably had the best announcer.
