Justin Wong vs Alex Valle

You all have spoken! And, as usual, Omni makes sense in a way that I can grasp it.

First post edited.

Alpha 3 is out!!

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is in!!

don’t forget to throw in Tekken DR.

Also, throw in Street Fighter 4 in the parking lot as a potential tie breaker.

Somebody get Don King on the batphone.

Valle did it big back in the day and he is still really good. But wong is really on another level he dominating games left and right. And beating OG’s I don’t know how the man does it. But if this went down I’d have to put money on wong there is no game on that list I think he couldn’t win.

Sabin would have first hand knowledge here, but I’m pretty sure Valle has practiced more MvC2 than JWong practiced ST, A2 and A3 together. JWong wins his tourneys almost on mind gaming/reflexes/whatever alone. I highly doubt he practices those at all. Heck, on AlphaIsm he says that he does not even has CvS2 and 3rd Strike competition to practice. He has Marvel practice + top player skills and that’s it.

Valle played MvC2 pretty hardcore for a year or so, or maybe he did not but had the mind game/reflexes to win at it. Before losing to JWong, he was winning almost every SHGL and West Coast tourneys, over Duc and Ortiz.

I think this is a highly entertaining money match, but we simply cannot use it to judge who’s better simply because they play different games with different comp. And they will not practice for most games here unless the money match is huge, considering that Evo will probably have much bigger prizes on the line.

All that aside, I really like the idea above. Its not to decide who’s the undeniable best player, of course, but its fun and it will very likely be unpredictable and thrilling. If the players are up to it, this will be something fun for Evo.

I also really like how DogFace is trying to throw more life into the scene. I know some people dislike money matches, but sometimes (like in this thread) the money takes a small part in it. The rivalry is what makes things nice. EC vs WC is not that big of a rivalry nowadays, maybe because everybody is worrying about Japan in some games, but it is something that can stir the competition and maybe even attract a few undecided players to Evo as well.

This is a great idea. I’d make my 50 on Alex to 25 to each player instead. What do you guys think?

I’d like to get them each 100 to play each other like pro-athletes, and *then *let the side-betting commence!

I’d be willing to throw in on this as well. $20 a player.

So if you include Majestros $ thats already $65 guaranteed for Wong and Valle.

Shit. You made me want to pay for tickets.

Problem is that there is nothing in it for Justin or Alex. We have to make it interesting for THEM as much as we wanna make it interesting for us.

(I swear this is like Nadal vs. Federer where they made that one tennis court half grass and half clay.)

Okay, so what’s gonna happen is that people are gonna bet on this, right (why hide it? Vic bet on Valle in the first post… lol)? So let’s say you bet $10. If you win, supposedly you get $20 back, right? Why not make those who win their bet get 150% of their investment back? So the person who bet and won gets $15 instead. That last 50% goes to the winner of the match. So the winner gets $5.

That would give the players incentive to play and something to play for. It’ll cost them nothing to enter and have a potential to win some cash prizes. The more people who bet, now everyone can help give money to the players AND still have a chance of getting something back! It’ll be way more hella exciting for people to watch now because they are pretty much putting something at stake and helping out the cause. Basically, the viewers AND the players can’t lose.

That’s a good idea, but I’m not sure if most people will be willing to bet in those conditions. For each dollar, if you lose, you lose the whole dollar. If you win, you get 50 cents.

Just for the record, I’d bet on JWong OR Valle vs Daigo in a match like this. So many people believe Daigo is this untouchable magical player, but in truth I think JWong is much more regular than him, and Valle beat Daigo more times than Daigo beat Valle, I think, and they were not even playing Valle’s games. Daigo lost at ST (Daigo’s game), 3rd Strike (Daigo’s game), barely won A3 (both played it), and they never played A2 (lucky Daigo).

This could be nice as well, and Valle or Wong could beat Daigo at Marvel too. Maybe Daigo could have Darkstalkers or whatever to balance it out.

That shit would be epic. I’d like to see the old school US players show their mastery.

Well, I think it’s worth it to see if enough player will donate to pay for them to play.

I kinda like your idea James, but I wouldn’t bet 100 thinking I’d only get 50 profit. Especially not in Vegas.

But if ten or so people chip in like ten dollas each, then Alex and Justin can get (and this is just a throw out minimum) 100 dolars each to play. Of course there may be more. SRKers might just be *paying *to see this dream match happen.

And that’s not to mention Alex/Justin betting on themselves.

And what’s in it for them? Look at Rocky 6 - ROCKY BALBOA. This could be their most glorious match. And a chance to show the not just the fighting game community, but to prove to themselves that they are the greatest Street Fighter player in the world. Years from now people will talk about this match online or after the arcade closes, and be able to answer the question: Who had the greatest Legacy? Calipower or Marvelous?

To the people who insisted we get Marvel, that is pretty exciting. Can an older underdog surprise the World Champion, and show the world that he can outsmart Justin Wong? Is that even possible? Can we say Balboa vs Mason Dixon!?

so much anger in here

I’ll kick down $20 for each of them if this goes down. This could be epic…

Are you serious, Alex Valle over Justin in those 5 games?

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

Justin and I just talked about this at mwc and I like him over Alex $100 4/7 for every game, and If Im really hype the ante may go up another 100 per game.

we will wait on Alex to accept if so, consider this shit POPPIN.

yo lets bet this shit. Im down to play mr.og in these 5 games. I’ll put up a 100 right now and I know alot more ppl would back me on this

lol this is a stark contrast compared to the mvc1 thread which got closed. fucking kaillera warriors refusing to come out from their keyboards lol.

I’d probably end up sidebetting on Justin, Alex is a great player and I think he can def beat Justin, but you know…gotta show some EC love lol. but it could go either way. I think Justin is better though imo.

Instead of a MM, how about we make this more like a prize fight.

lets say both jwong and valle are guaranteed X dollars, but the winner gets an additional 2X dollars, plus some sort of title.

if this happens i have $100 on justin wong

Golden.
