Justin Wong should not have been on Team USA

I never thought I’d see the day.

This competitive fighting game scene is getting bigger and bigger. Before we know it, we are going to have Evil Genious and Cross Counter Jerseys selling for 100+ dollars, tourneys in NFL-sized stadiums, million-dollar endorsements and TV deals.

Maybe it’s because I was around when the best SF info was on alt…games.sf2, but the type of fanboy ranting from the OP is both surprising and sad.

You’re not wrong.

Also, anyone who says it’s stupid to care can fuck off.

take your own advice

why is this thread not deleted

Justin drops that combo 8.95% of the time so I’m not surprised.

Bad joke I know but this thread sucks and I’m bored.

I love the fact that the community has gotten to the point where we can bitch about who is on Team USA. I’m kinda sad that it had absorb so many fucking idiots in the process.

It wasn’t just dropping combos, it was dropping basic shit that you need to compete over and over. Did any of you actually watch Justin’s performance at Season’s Beatings? There was something like 6 FADC into Ultras dropped in that tournament and the 5v5 at crucial points and that obvious lack of preparation unfortunately carried over to Canada Cup. You just don’t see that kind of thing from top players. Justin’s super strong fundamentals carried him to top 8, but that shit’s not enough against the highest level of competition.

Justin’s getting paid to play Street Fighter, doesn’t even practice the game, and he still acts like he’s the shit. How can you respect that?

Do you think you can try better?

Do I think I could try harder than Justin? Yes, easily.

Monday morning quarterbacking, man. Can’t get behind it, especially in fighting games.

Why especially in fighting games?

Sounds like a pretty sweet racket to me.

I think it’s weird that people are actually emotionally invested in USA beating Japan at fighting games. It would be one thing if you were playing in the match yourself or you personally know someone who was, but beyond that it’s just a bunch of guys from the internet pushing buttons at each other.

Do you also think it’s weird that people are emotionally invested in some dudes running around throwing and/or hitting balls? It is weird in abstract terms, but makes perfect sense in a very real way. Justin Wong wants us to care about his performance in AE, and I do. Unfortunate for me that the team captain of a team that I am heavily emotionally invested in doesn’t care nearly enough.

dont want him on the team?

level up and take his spot

Yes.

What way is that?

Have you ever been in a major tournament? have you ever play a well known player face to face? You can be like desk and do some crazy ass combo in training mode and still drop easiest combos when under pressure. He doesn’t get paid to play this game. He get sponsor to go out to events which he would have to pay on his own. he’s doing very well in marvel which is the game that he made his name with anyway.

you’re a dumbass, even when justin drops combos he’s easily one of the strongest players i’ve ever faced

he earns the spot on the team, cause he’s still super good. in the end it doesn’t really matter if you drop combos because if your mindgames are strong, you’ll still get more openings

you’re just a stream monster scrub who doesn’t know wtf he is talking about

It’s good that you’re consistent. I’m not going to explain the concept of fandom to you, though.
