Justin Wong and gootecks to be interviewed live on eSports show tonight

regarding the validity of her accomplishments… the site suggests shes in the top 100 in GH3, while in fact shes ranked on scorehero as #1080 or so… add to that scores by users that dont use the site and you end up with her being maybe in the top 3000 in the world which is attainable easily by casual play … not 80h / week lol

hey just wanted to say thanks to everyone who tuned in, hope people enjoyed it. We will have the VOD of the episode up tomorrow morning and I will post it here for people to watch.

I will post some replies in this thread soon, but as a Quake player for 9-10 years and seen the birth of competitive gaming from as far back as Thresh, there are other games that can be just as exciting as Street Fighter, but I see SF’s community as special as well. I think Quake, Street Fighter, StarCraft and Counter-Strike are together in the top tier echelon with everything else below it.

Nice interviews, i enjoyed it.

Very nice show. Really liked the enthusiasm about taking SFIV to mainstream or bust.

But damnit, Dan sucks. No way Rose is worse.

Everyone wants to be the next Thresh driving a fucking ferrari.

I hate this woman. Everything about her is shallow play for money and attention.

It is extremely disappointing that a well-respected member of the community like Gootecks would have anything to do with her.

Then again…

All these motherfuckers say they want to “grow the scene” and “go mainstream.”

What they REALLY mean is that they want corporate sponsorships and to get rich. I’m starting to think that, outside of a few rare top pros such as Jason Cole, nobody really gives a fuck about “the community.”

Jesus christ… where did she say that? I think I hate her now too.

Fucking tool.

I’m stoked for when she signs up here. The thread will be fucking hilarious.

shes already signed up here. She made a huge post about herself and how shes a pro gamer that is going to fuck everyone up eventually haha

Long-winded post about how serious she is. Also, she’s selling her GH stuff.

Link, oh please link!

My Tyson’s boxing glove wants to have a small chat with this pampered brat and her flowchart Ken’s face.

She uses Sagat. Very poorly I might add.

So she’s got big dreams? Whatever – can’t see a reason to hate. It’s a bit naif but who cares, so are all big dreams. I wish her luck and hope to learn something from her game someday in the future assuming it levels up.

And she’s kinda cute. She could cosplay C. Viper without even trying too hard.

She’s trying to sell power of the vagina… I ain’t buyin that shit doe…

She says in her profile that she’s entered tourneys for calibur and made it to “State Finals” for SC2, but as someone that’s been in that scene and been around that long, I can honestly say I have never heard of her in my life until now.

It’ll be interesting to see what really comes of her “seriously” taking up SF4 and seeing if she can handle the amount of loseing it takes to get good.

I’m all for supporting someone who’d like to play better (especially since I’m not tournament caliber myself) but when someone goes into the largest fighting game forum on the net talking about how she is going to play SF for hours a day and become the best girl in SF, she’s asking to be ridiculed.

Haha, best post by far

Just wanted to say thank you personally to everyone who tuned in tonight. My only regret was not having more time to answer questions from the audience. THE GOOD NEWS IS… I’ve already spoken to both individuals and they’d love to come back for a big Q&A over many different topics.

I took alot away from this show. I already had a massive amount of respect towards Justin (as a player and icon) and Gootecks (as a player and community enthusiast). If you haven’t figured it out, I get a hard on for people who’ve got the passion for their games… the passion that gets you off your ass and take initiative. Both these fellows have it. My respect level has risen even more.

I hope that the SF4 community will take some of the major discussion points near the end of the show away from this and continue to analyze them in your community, the same way we did tonight. I was rather surprised to hear Ryan’s thoughts on some of the “team” aspects just like many of you in this thread. I also think the discussion of exposure and how the FPS/RTS/etc communities seem to rely on it, and it’s never been a solid offering from fighting game events.

I simply cannot wait to have these two on again for a big Q&A session. The phones were actually quite obnoxious (as in alot of callers), but we just ran out of time

Thanks again to everyone, and I hope we can continue to cover these issues as I feel like the fighting game communities need just as much exposure and coverage.

We’ll have the full VOD & MP3 available tomorrow.

Ugh she actually wants sponsors just to help her sit on her ass practicing, why the fuck does she think she’s that special, none of the other pros had to be carried like that.

Please…NO :shake:

StarSlay3r needs to die in a fire, she thinks she can just come in here and be the best. People who have been playing for 2-3 years still aren’t even close to Gootecks or Edma. It’s really annoying to see her gloat about how Gootecks is helping her out. Then she talks about people who have 500+ hours and 1000 games played. Bitch please, I have over 1000 hours and easily 5000 games played and I’m still nowhere near any of the top players.
