Just Rolling With It: Yang General Discussion Thread

Can anyone provide me with general info on the dive kick? Perhaps a guide to the frame advantage of it from different jump angles? Thanks.

Just found this again yesterday. Two seconds in google. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you!!! I am guessing you want to use RH Dive kick when further away and LK Dive kick when closer?

Yes HK for longer distances and MK or LK for closer ranges. The spacing is something that you’ll learn by playing and trying them out.

MK version is the least used for me but it’s actually quite good for catching fireballs since the angle is better than with HK version since it’ll hit lower giving you more frame advantage. It’s also the one to use after a MK rollkick.

If you go training mode, LK covers half a square, MK covers one square and HK covers one and a half square distance.

I normally uses the MK version when I’m jumping forward and the HK version when I’m neutral jumping. Easier to gauge the distance.

I find myself using this method much of the time as well. And LK divekick is usually reserved for crossups/fake cross/sometimes to catch crouch tech(depends on the character i am fighting and their particular hurtbox), for me anyway.

Brothers… all hope is now lost: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/may/24/street-fighter-4-update-balance-change-requests-japan-part-5-m-bison-yun-el-fuerte-vega-blanka/

“We had figured Yun for a character we needed to buff quite a bit, but we’ll take a good look at the current battle stats and strategies before making our final adjustments for him.”

“Ayano noted that it’s hard to just up Yang’s power, like a lot of people are asking for, because of his position as a skill-based speed-type character.”

…or at least my faith in Capcom.

Lol…i wouldn’t be surprised if they buffed yun and kept yang roughly the same.

The guy whose comment they picked for yun didn’t even ask for buffs lol, just mentioned that ultra 2 is pretty useless.

I guess they picked that comment honestly because they thought it was surprising to them and wanted to answer it… It just seems they’re completely out of touch with how the actual players feel about the game.

We are screwed

Damn. I knew yang dive was ass, but that chart really put things into perspective.

I really hope this character get the buffs he deserved. I may have betrayed the yang brotherhood in favor of yun, but i still love to watch this character.

I really don’t think the frame data on it is even that bad. It’s meant to be a footsie-tool and not a pressure tool. The hitboxes on them are a joke though. These are actually the AE versions and they’re supposed to have even bigger hurt-boxes now.

I hope they change back st.LK to 3 frame. It’s damm important !

is there a youtube link for this? im interested in the yangs and onis

Should be all on this channel.

I don’t remember if I saw Yangs when I watched it live but this video starts up straight with Ojisan-boy.

Only Ojisan’s team is on stream. The rest is off stream matches

Yeah, I actually remember that Ojisan’s match against that Cammy, but I don’t remember seeing any other Yangs there. Especially not as good players as Ojisan if there were any.

Hey guys relatively new to Yang but been playing SF4 since it came out, love it. My mains have been in order Guile, Chun, and Fei. I love Fei, but honestly Yang blows them all out of the water in terms of fun. This character is freakin insane! He’s got so many different ways to play, whether you’re dive kicking or dashing around or throwin out palms or doin rolling dp’s or just pressuring with lows to safe mantis slash confirms. He’s got like so many different useful techniques.

I’m honestly kind of worried because ppl seem to be sayin he’s weak. I mean I’ve only been playing him for a week but I literally experiment with everything and I just don’t think he’s that weak. But then again the pros also experiment with everything and they say he’s just mid-tier I think. But honestly, this character is about 10 times more complex than Fei so I’m not sure if even the pros can get a good grasp on his balance.

When you fight good Sagats
Or the grapplers
Then you would feel the pain

Yang will have a difficult time especially against Zangief and Honda in my opinion as they have high health high damage and Yang can’t really get close to them especially Zangief. One mistake and you’ll get hit by a SPD and all the efforts go down the drain.
