It isn’t closing actually, they are relocating as far as the owner says.
So I’m very curious about both Yun and Yang, but don’t understand the characters fully so was hoping you guys could help me out.
From what I understand, despite being twins they play quite differently from one another, Yun being more of a rushdown/mix-up heavy character while Yang plays more like Fei Long, capitalizing off of others mistakes, not to mention he also has Mantis (coughrekka), a similar overhead, and other similarities to Fei.
Would this be an accurate statement? Because if Yang is really that similar to Fei, I’d rather just continue with Fei over switching to him, and then try out Yun.
Also, who is more execution-heavy? Yun or Yang?
There is actually nothing that makes Yang similar to Fei aside from him having a rekka and a command grab. Yang is actually more about mixups and being reactive but I’m sure you can rush shit down with Yang as it was possible in SF3, Yun of course is about rushing down and mixing up but most of his combos will be the same.
Yun and Yang both have some execution required but I’d say Yun has more execution for his combos but nothing on the level of C.Viper. Most of their combos as said by many are easy, aside from Seiei Enbu and Genei Jin combos which just take practice.
So whereas Fei plays mostly through patience and reacting to your opponent until you get them in the corner, where you begin to depend on your amazing corner pressure to keep them there, Yang is more about mixups and getting in on your opponent, but also less rushdown heavy than Yun?
So he’d be kind of a middle ground between the two?
pretty much, but it all depends on what you end your combos with. Yang has outstanding corner pressure especially if you know what do in Seiei Enbu to stay on your opponent. At this point Seiei Enbu is much more dangerous than Genei Jin. What Yun excels is being able to throw down a ton of pressure because of have a faster divekick, and Genei Jin. But Yang has great pressure too with his own divekick, and ambiguous cross ups if you end your combos into his roll kick it’ll put him at the perfect position, or if you do his jump cancel mix ups.
Yang can be defensive and offensive. Yun’s will most likely always be Offensive. Yun can’t really be on the defensive because he doesn’t have the ground control Yang has, and his DP isn’t able to be made safe.
what is it!
Yang’s frame data and Yuns…
Yang’s st Lp is a 4 frame… but… on hit… +8…
saddening news is Yang’s DP . LK looks to be 5 frame start.
EX being 4 frame. But at least we can FADC so not too bad.
U1 I believe is an 8 frame start up
U2 is a 4 frame start up but the rolling animation will go on for 32 frames.
So I wonder how easier it will be do combo that off a st lp
thank you for letting me know what it is
I miss Yang already. Is there by any chance someone might be able to translate the AE mook for Yang?
CTF is still around didn’t they just relocate to Brooklyn?
well it’s not exactly the new cf and its not open to the public yet till april, as he still has some renovations to be made. i can go since i know Henry but I’ve been too busy with life so i don’t really have the time. if he has another private opening next week i’ll see if i can go.
if someone could translate the frame data that would be awesome.
Some notes after discussing the data with jimmy:
- EX slashes = almost completely useless, they barely do any more stun or damage. the best thing is it’s 7 frames instead of 8 frames like regular slashes.
- s.strong -> low forward is a 1-frame link
- command grab -> launch is a 1 frame link
- close fierce xx slashes does more damage than s.strong xx slashes [backwards from 3s]
- close fierce xx ex senkyutai does 25 points than close fierce xx rh senkyutai, not worth it unless someone is going to die
- jab -> ultra 1 is possible, 1 frame but it didn’t seem that difficult when I was fooling around with it
- each senkyutai does 5 more points than each other [rh does 5 more than forward, forward does 5 more than short], EX is a different story though
- short senkyutai is 5 frames, easily safe-jumpable
- 1st jab slash is -2, 2nd is -5, 3rd is -8 [seems like an incredibly small negative for going through with all 3 of them]
- fierce palm = +2 on block, strong = -5 on block, EX = -10 on block
mostly it. there’s probably some more important info, but as of now that’s all I really cared to ask about.
got to play Yang again at the next level. guard crush is coming back on the 30th. I might be using Yang in tourney.
Yang’s U2 doesn’t seem to do more damage than his U1 but i would use it against characters like viper,Akuma, blanka, and maybe yun since they have to jump at some point. Especially Viper.
Btw this saturday i’ll be going to the break to play some more Yang. So while i am there what do you want me to experiment with?
U1 does noticeably more damage than U2, even with animation. The other thing about U2 is that it’s anti fireball [though, it’s actually not even -that- great] at it, and you can connect it off of senkyutai fadc.
The only matches I’d use it for would be against characters that can pressure you, like rufus, yun etc, or blanka to at least give some sort of threat to blocked ball.
I don’t see a reason to use it against viper unless you just can’t seem to get her off of you… but with low short that shouldn’t be as difficult.
Aww so you can’t do a dash up U1 from a blocked ball or even Dash, HP Mantis FADC U1?
u2 has no invincibility so against viper is not a good idea. besides you have ex teleport to get out of bk pressure.
Burn Kick is registered as a projectile which is probably why they would suggest U2, so it could be used to stuff it.
