I saw everyone complaining before I bought the game but I didn’t even think about the possibility of not having voice chat, or making it impossible to message someone you just fought, unless I’m missing something? Also I’ve played 6 matches and everyone is horrible, what the hell? the games been out for ever now. Also is rank games possible? I got 5 bar settings on and it still lags
No voice chat and only basic messaging through the CFN platform before lounge matches. If you’re finding teleporty/laggy people there’s a function to blacklist them. The game only does a little bit better of a job than it did at launch actually finding 5 bar quality people. It screws up sometimes so blacklisting them is your only other option.
So I can’t add them to my friends list, and yea I was pretty heavy into sf4, just came back after finally trading my Xbox for a PS4, mainly for this game, tho I expected trash so I’m not super disappointed. I’ve always said Capcom is the stupidest game company out there but I didn’t think they would be dumb enough to add this horrible friend system or no voice chat, how the hell am I to learn?
If you just started then you won’t be placed yet. People in rookie are absolutely bottom of the barrel and you will have to fight your way through them to get anywhere.
Once you get to silver people start to land combos and stuff, once you get to gold they start to have some semblance of mind games. Once you get to platinum is where they start to try and put things together and develop some footsies… some.
Wow that’s just too much, thanks tho, and thank dime, I’m glad to know there’s still scrubs I thought the game would of boiled down to only the elite by now
That’s if you’re playing battle lounge, maybe. Generally there’s an easier way to do it if you’re in ranked/casual as there’s an immediate option to view their provile after the match is over. Click the square button or whatever it is and then just add to black list.
This game reminds you that no matter how “accessible” they make a game, people suck at fighting games. Think there was statistic that said 90 percent of the accounts are in bronze or lower. There’s only about a couple 100 people at the current highest rank “Master” and only about 3 or 4,000 people in some form of diamond. To put it in perspective, there’s 2 extra higher ranks that no one has reached yet. I’m sure some of those bronze/rookie accounts are dormant, but considering how big the current active base is still (and they I was still regularly getting matches in rookie/bronze) there must be a lot of people playing that just can’t get out of the cheap metals.
This game also puts a premium on stupidity though. Things like like hitconfirming 1 hit attacks instead of just being able to autopilot into your good stuff and go from there.
With urien, if I want a FULLY optimized st.mp I have to confirm all these things:
Spacing
Hit
Counter hit
Block
Block speed… confirming block is easy, but doing it fast is hard which makes staggering well very hard unless you guess the first block.
I’ve seen no player really able to do all these things well consistently, the CH confirm messes it all up. I can CH confirm as an example, but I have to be looking for it, and I have to either guess the CH and assume that the hit was a CH, or I have to actually react to CH, which is doable, but I lose the ability to regular confirm right there since regular confirm is into cr.mp and CH confirm is into cr.hp
It makes the basics extremely complicated. I don’t think that people are really terrible at fighting games, but a lot of what made them easier and funner at lower levels has been taken out or made exponentially harder in sf5.
There are people that find SFIV’s and other earlier SF game mechanics complicated as well, but have found ways to make things work in V. I hated a majority of the mechanics in SFIV, but it didn’t effect how high I ranked or how well I placed in events. You still have to be a good enough player to adapt to the meta. Otherwise top players would never get anywhere everytime a game changes. I’ve heard of people that have gotten to Super Plat who can’t even finish BNBs.
The general idea is that no matter how easy/hard/non conforming/traditional they make SF, there are just going to be a lot of people who aren’t adept enough at what you basically need to be good at one to get past the lower ranks or not go 0 and 2 at every event. It’s just a hard fact.
Yeah? Who? I find that very hard to believe. Unless you are equating “mechanics” to spacing… what you say here is demonstrably false. Nothing is mechanically complicated in sf2. Even 1 frame links aren’t complicated, they are just hard to do. Very hard. But complicated? Nope.
Now if you are talking about something like alpha 3 v infinites or cvs2 rc… you have a point, but your point is kinda lost as these aren’t mechanics, they are glitches. They weren’t meant to be in the game at all but surfaced because of bad testing procedures and lack of fighting game programming acumen.
And even still, they aren’t particularly complicated, they are just hard to do with regards to timing execution.
I think you are reaching. The only mechanic I remember that was purposely complicated was parry in sf3. And I’ve already stated what I think about that game. Sf5 is more of the same to me, in many ways. Complicated for complications sake, not because it makes a good fighting game.
-edit
Sf4 itself though is I think a good argument. But only with regards to that games eventual option select heavy nature. A nature that came about because of players trying to make wakeup more fair for the attacker so that other characters couldn’t just fadc or invincible move out all the time.
Sf5 basically says fuck your wakeup offense and makes you react to a move that has a 5 frame difference in timing and differing spacing.
ah shit i thought games were a means to escape harsh reality, thank god for ono bringing me back down to earth and showing me, game or not it doesnt mean its fun
I’ve been saying since launch how the online experience in general (menus, options, UI, UX, etc) is way worse than SFIV. And it didn’t get much better in this 1 and half year since.
I would be willing to accept the loss of FM if it meant no more “always connected” and better user experience like SFIV had.
Even just a character select screen before any match would be nice, actually.
All I can say is im really sorry you got this and…at least some of the new fighters look cool? And youve got mods if you play PC. I mean most of my mains are trash can tier (F.A.N.G, Juri), but I love ze Ed boy. hes fun times. will also check buy Q if that man EVER comes out.
