Just bought SF5... WTF?

i think the reason you cant communicate with players is due to the fact the game cross platforms.
if it was ps4 or pc only…obviously steam chat etc etc would work but you gotta create a CFN.
CFN=multi-platform account.

Aren’t friends and voice chat built into PSN? Serious question since I don’t have a PS4. The game on Steam has no way to add friends in-game. You have to get their Steam ID number from their account, use a 3rd party site to find their Steam profile, add them without them having any clue who are unless your Steam name matches your CFN name, and then wait and hope they accept.

Yeah you can friend them on PSN and PS4 has a party chat setting so you can just chill, talk, and play and have nothing to worry about. It all depends if you’re playing on PS4, the person you wanna talk to has to have a PS4 account. If the person is a steam user, then you can’t. Both users must be Playstation users. But to answer your question, yes PSN allows voice chat.

That’s almost like saying people with iPhones can’t communicate with people who are using a Galaxy because they are cross platform.

IE., complete and utter bullshit.

The reason you can’t communicate is because the game was made by a bunch of autists that think having no communication is better than “bad” communication.

There’s not much you can do about “5 bars” not being “real” 5 bars matches : Capcom can’t fix people’s connections for them (aka stop them from using WiFi for online games).

You’ll have much better odds if you use the “5 only” and “ask” (confirmation window) filters, since you’ll have basically 2 ping checks instead of one, meaning that any opponent that bypasses your “5 only” filter will be checked again at confirmation window : if you see anyone below 5, just push “no”that’s a wifi user

Proceed to blacklist them or better yet, use PeerBlock …

NRS added recently a WiFi icon for Injustice 2 … we need a WiFi filter in all fighting games … no amount of “netcodes” can fix WiFi BS : packets loss / random lag spikes and connection hiccups / no full duplex (WiFi can’t send and receive at the same time, unlike a wired connection)

And of course … A huge % of PS4 players use WiFi nowadays … Go figure … Braindead “new generation” ?

SFV online works extremely well when you face a wired opponent from your region though …

lol

I don’t really see the point of telling the player that his opponent is on wifi if you can’t choose to deny or filter a match based on that. Also, even if you could deny them, it wouldn’t have that much of an impact to discourage them from staying on wifi since so many players are on wifi and they’ll likely accept matches from each other. More likely us wired users will have trouble finding matches without resorting to playing wifi users. 'Shit is fucked.

Or after you play them you can just go to their profile, hit triangle, and blacklist them

You’re being a little dramatic aren’t you dude? The games not THAT fucking bad. It’s fun to play online when you get a good connection, which for me is often. But I’m on 300down 50up wired.

What is worse is people having the option to run from a rematch, and Sony allowing message blocking. They get to act like jackasses and run, then hide. It is infuriating.

Kinda gave up on online matches myself… I have a 100MB connection and only playing with 5 bars opponents and it always seems to lag. And when I do actually get a decent match… Players don’t wanna rematch cuz they’re afraid of losing points.

Did you try resetting your WiFi router and disabling channel 6?
