Juri Arcade Edition Documented Changes

Got about 30 games in against two Yun and Yang players. It feels like the second I’m holding block I’ll lose, it’s too difficult and risky to try to get them off of you, especially Yun. I had some luck with rushing them down, but they have so many options that it’s hard to maintain offense. Really feels like a match where we just have to know them better than they know us.

Nah yun and yang arent braindead at all. I’ve dabbed with them both. Both take a good understanding of mind games and spacing. Its just…they’re strings are really long and safe. It would be like if Juri could c.lk, s.lk, s.mp, c.mp, lk pinwheel without too much frame disadvantage after lk pinwheel.

I personally think its a bad match. I’ve found a few ways to play it. Its just, when hes on top of you its a nightmare. So many ways to mix you up and naturally beats juri’s defensive options. I personally call it 7-3.

Just got home from work, looking for these unbeatable Yuns and Yangs everyone has been complaining about.

Ran into 2 Yuns, 3 Yangs so far around my level, haven’t lost yet -_-; The only one to beat me so far is Wolfkrone lulz~

Gotta say, I think the the speed buff and counter are going to be the most useful things that aren’t situational (i.e. corner fireball kick into ultra). While Juri is no speed demon, she feels faster on the ground.

With everything I’ve said, I think the match is really really hard, but I’m looking forward to finding answers to it. Unfortunately I think juri has a hard time vs anyone with a dive kick.

I think far mk is good at beating out divekicks, ive had some success with it, id imagine its good because it has 2 hitboxes so if one doesnt catch him the other might.

I’m having trouble with the timing of it because my fadc isn’t perfect. Does Fireball Store > FADC > Ultra work?

Haven’t used Ultra 2 since I became comfortable with FSE >.> No fear even against Grapplers XD

I have to say for me the only solution to stop a divekick yun / yang who’s already in your face is mashing ex pinwheel like most of the Japanese players do. Her standing jab is too short to stop divekick and crouching strong is too slow. To stop a incoming divekick (when they haven’t got in), standing forward is better than crouching strong. 60% of time it trades in Yang / Yun’s favor but it’s better than letting them on your face.

Well, Fireball store > Ultra 2 works anywhere on the screen on certain characters if you are close. Have to go to bed so I can’t try it on the whole cast. But it worked on:

If no one else does it, I’ll test the rest tomorrow afternoon. Not sure how hit-confirmable it is either. Right now I’m just hitting the store and ultra-ing. I think if I hit again before store the push back might be too much.

You can’t FADC fireball store.

The negative edge fireball store into U2 works but it takes time to build it into your muscle memory … I mean most of time you’d like to hold fireball for further pressure game and when you realize you can actually combo into U2 it’s already too late …

They changed the hitbox on J.mp, i cant believe, i used to be able to get it to crossup or hit regular in the corner depending on the timing i used for it in regular super. Tried it in ranked just now and it completely whiffed, took it to training mode, doesnt work, changed to regular super, works. Mother fucker…

edit: They changed the hitbox on J.Hk, i was able to replace the J.mp setups with J.hk, which also happens to do more damage, so thats all good.

j.MP and j.HK were probably changed because of unblockable jump-ins. It’s possible that other changes they made gave her more setups for it, and Juri in particular could do a lot with them because of FSE.

Also i found a good safe jump setup from watching Japanese Juri Play:

Forward Throw in the corner > Forrward Dash > Fireball Store > Neutral Jump Hk

It works on the twins and makes their Dp’s whiff. Makes 4 frame reversals whiff but doesnt work on some characters wakeups because of their smaller hitbox on wakeup, for example it also works on Adon but doesnt work on Fei.

They mentioned that in the Dev blog now that i remember, not sure if unblockable nerfs were across the board, Its only for J.mp though, unblockable J.Hk/J.Lk/J.Mk all still work but where J.mp was removed it seems J.hk is a good replacement.

You mean Juri has unblockables with j.LK, j.MK, and j.HK? I thought it was just j.MP and maybe j.HP.

Anything that can crossup can potentially be unblockable, the way they work is that your jumpin attack will hit them one way if they arent guarding (IE blocking the wrong way) and hit them the other way if they are guarding (because when they take guard stance they change their hitbox). So long as a move can crossup theres probably a way to get it to be unblockable against at least a few characters.
