JR beat Tokido at EVO? O_o

IF my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle

I asked him this and he said he can do it, he just doesn’t like to.

DP will also hit from a greater range than jab or short.

i was just wondering. How long have you been playing fighting games? Have you played at EVO before? If so where did you get? played vs any professional world class players? because it looks pretty dumb to see someone flaming a well known player, who has been playing fighitng games professionally a long time. Look on you tube there are videos of Tokido vs JR from SBO 2002. Both players obviously know what they’re doing when it comes to fighting games. Both players messed up links/combos. JR did not maximize off HK. TOkido missed loads of cr.hk. What is there to say, probably wouldn’t of happened normally. But that’s what happens In a tournament with loads of pressure. And handling the pressure is half the game anyway. You can’t say the other player is worse than Tokido because TOkido missed all his executions because he was nervous/couldn’t adapt to lag (whatever). That sounds stupid.

but cr.mp has plenty of range

Plenty of range, but causes the Tatsu to whiff if you aren’t careful.

Cr. short has more range. It’s pretty much a guaranteed tatsu once it lands.

exactly my thoughts…BUT, he is GODLIKE though, so it’s ok if he says foolish things about well known PROVEN street fighter players who consistently place high.:wtf:
LOL.

That’s why I’ll finish it with a hadouken FADC sweep or cancel the mp into a hk tatsu. But I know what you are saying and I do die alittle on the inside each time it whiffs

it doesnt matter what your ideas are on how you should play akuma or this game

JR beat tokido

have dreams about it for the rest of your life

JR plays pretty solid and safe for the most part and has a solid understanding of the game. After that he takes some risk to win the game, because you simply can’t wait it out and play too safe against players of Tokido’s caliber. JR was never going to beat Tokido if he played his style of play, trying to win on a game of execution. Tokido simply is too good with spacing, his use of tools, etc. so JR has to play the way he does to win. JR may not have the same execution as Tokido (IMO he doesn’t really, but he’s still really damn good), but he’s smart for knowing how to win against a player that many people consider “better” than him.

And remember, this is a tournament. You do what it takes to win. This isn’t some casual friendly match or practice matches where you try different things to get better. When you go out there it’s just you and your opponent, and you do what it takes to win at that point. Sure, what JR did was abit random, and he got abit lucky. He’s the one who got the win though in the end though.

Yeah in retrospect it was seeing him getting jumped in alot one example is the floe match.Floe made some pretty brazen jump ins, repeatedly. I just intrepreted him as not adapting. If your letting people jump in repeatedly and you aren’t punishing your not adapting.

Do you mean Evo because JR hasn’t been to SBO.

Just stop talking. Many akuma players such as myself had more lenient pools than JR did and noone else made it out. I’m not the biggest JR fan but I’m not ignorant enough to not give credit where it is due. Stop talking out of your ass.

that’s what I meant… Why did I say sbo :looney:. And yeah, as RUGI said. I’m no JR fan either. In fact I’m no fanboi of any pro player. But you can’t be joining these forums 2009, and saying players who been playing SF professionally since friggin EVO 2002 or whatever - don’t know what they’re doing. Even though they’ve proved consistently that they do know what they doing…

Tokido was playing MAD loose in that game. His execution wasn’t to his usual standards.

And maybe it is something I am missing but what was with the cr.MK after LK Tatsu? Reset into sweep?

Props to JR though cos his Anti Airing was on point.

probably a missed plink, it happends to me sometimes

That’s what I thought… but he was doing it so regular. Maybe he wasn’t used to playing on PS3?

really? I haven’t looked at the matches yet, but either way. I don’t think he wanted to do cmk resets :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: just watched the matches, tokido messed lots of stuff up. those reset’s werent intended. but hey win is a win
