Joysticks & Jams Marvel vs Capcom 3 Tournament 500$ cash prize Sacramento CA June 4th

Nono thats why i said i believe you were coming i never said you were 100% or anything like that, and would never use your name to promote an event or anything like that, if you guys want i can ask them if they can lower the entry fee, what would be a good amount? let me know everyone, thanks

Also everyone please remember i am not the one trowing or doing this tourny i am just helping out more like a middle man, so any suggestions will be appreciate it

Or would you guys prefer to have a AE tourny instead of MVC3 but it would have to be on june 11th since ae dont come out till the 7th, let me know…

Your boy’s rules suck. There are plenty of players out there that don’t/can’t play stick.

Trust me i already told them and ask them about it, specially on the ps3 alot of good pad players, but you know ill tell them again not a problem at all

why don’t you use my name to hype up the shady tourney? THREECOUNTEMTHREEPEOPLEKNOWMEYOUJUSTLOSTTHREEOTHERPPLFORYOURSHADYTOURNEYLOLOLOl

Damn if you would play as good as you talk shit then you might have a chance to win…

[]Details about the prizes for 2nd and 3rd would help give this tournament some credibility. This is an absolute necessity.
[
]$25 seems a bit excessive for what might be a slice of pizza, a drink, and tournament entry. What does “food” entail?
[*]Do the setups have lag? (this is nowhere near as important as the first two, but an issue nonetheless)

For tournaments, it’s all in the details. Establishing yourself as a tournament organizer can take time, and you have to consider what everyone is saying - always. If the people are asking you about certain details - even if they’re completely rude about it - it is your responsibility as a tournament organizer (or friend of the organizer, as things are) to field these questions cordially. Even if you’re not organizing the tournament and you’re the “middleman,” then it is your responsibility to address these concerns since you’re posting in our forum. You must treat your potential player base as a business should treat a valued customer; after all, players are the things that make up tournaments, not venues. Players should be the reason why tournaments are held, not the other way around. If a business/venue benefits, that’s all fine and dandy; however, that should not be the sole motivation of a tournament.

**Tournaments are for the players; not the businesses/venues. **

My gut feeling is telling me this tournament is more likely than not something to avoid, but people deserve opportunities to explain their side of things and to try to reclaim some lost trust. Act as you see fit.

Maybe they serve alcohol at the place so you’re not allowed to come.

Rofl

You must not play marvel at a serious level or you would know that honzo is really good actually.

Oh and when this event happens make sure you tell your boy why the turn out wasn’t good!

But hey it’s all good after all you have so many people coming to this that we won’t matter.

This.

But yeah, I lawled too.

I just got off the phone with the venue and spoke to one of the managers. I explained that I am a local tournament organizer and conveyed some of our concerns. A five minute call and conversation with one of the managers, Chris, yielded the following information:

[LIST]
[]To his understanding, the entry fee will be $15. This purportedly gets you a single slice of pizza, a soda, and entry to the tournament.
[
]They (the venue) are NOT in direct charge of the tournament. From what I understood, there is a “group of guys” that are running the tournament. Details don’t seem to be concrete.
[]Chris sounded unsure of the guaranteed amount. He had this to say: “If they’re guaranteeing 500, then that’s what it is. Does it say that on the flyer?”
[
]Main guy running was not available for questions. When queried, Chris put me on hold (to ask who the main man running it is, as it seems he’s unsure himself about “who’s name I would use”), then returned to tell me that all queries sent through e-mail would generate better responses as he would be able to “give me much better answers because he can ask them about it too.” He then wrapped up the conversation and said that they were currently “strapped” at the moment, which I assume to mean they were busy. I gave him my name and contact information and ended the call.

Tournament details apparently aren’t concrete. They should’ve been worked out before this.

Also, it should not be this hard for players to obtain this information. This is the tournament organizer’s responsibility to post this information. I’m getting the feeling we’re being given the runaround here.

Awaiting whomever is in charge to respond.
