If you are in Toronto and can’t find any. Try this hobby store located at Sheppard and Kennedy, east of kennedy, on north side of the street. I forget what it’s called but they sell remote control cars and such. Just ask for silicone grease.
Here’s an option that I just picked up. $1.99 at The Home Depot:
Question: Has anyone here tried applying Silicone Grease where the Actuator rubs the Restrictor? I’m wondering if the JLF can get even slicker.
I just use Chap Stick.
Works quite well and it smells Cherrylicious too!
I detect a hint of sarcasm, but chap stick is a no-no. It’s petroleum based/
Some have reported using lip balm before.
The ChapStick brand.
I don’t think jeenyus1 being sarcastic.
I believe him.
No sarcasm.
I actually use it and it works fine. I haven’t read anything credible that says using petroleum based lubricants damages plastics. I think it’s an urban myth and I find it hard to believe seeing as how petroleum is a by product of plastic not to mention petroleum based products are usually always contained in plastic containers…
I think people are confusing the fact that petroleum jelly degrades latex, which is why it’s bad as a personal lubricant in protected sex.
Unless people are using plastic jimmy hats…
That’s exactly what I’m thinking.
Petroleum degrades latex, this is definitely a fact.
Petroleum degrading plastic, nuh uh.
i used chapstick on behalf of a post months ago recommending it. works as temporary fix. but now its supposedly a bad idea, but also…not? i dont know what to believe lol
I bought some Tamiya Anti-wear grease…Then I read it’s very thick but doesn’t thin out in a long time. Is this alright for lubricating a JLF?
EDIT: Lol it’s for remote-controlled toys’ gears and drive shafts. It did feel thick and stopped the JLF from deflecting, but it felt heavy and slower to move to neutral. I ended up buying a tube of silicon compound in an autoshop for a dollar…
Wil lithium grease work? Like Lucas xtra heavy duty grease?
Holy Google, Batman!
I was afraid to do a search about this but I can’t believe Google gave me this on “I’m Feeling Lucky!” on “joystick grease”.
I have a JLW that I don’t particularly care about. I’ll give the lip balm route a go and see if I get any adverse effects.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing actually.
can’t you just use paintball marker lube? i got some Hater Sauce lube for my smart parts ION and i was wondering if i can use it on my JLF and LS-32
Gurp my question was already answered, sorries >.<
Just used a small amount of mint Blistex on my rusty JLW washer and spring and what a difference it made!
I’m gonna post back after using it a bit over sometime to see if there’s any degradation but just on any of the plastics.
Time to lube my stick up lol/jk No homo
I seriously dont know how to do this, I need some process info. My joystick does not stay in neutral position when I play, and I think it is the reason it wont is because the original lubricant has gotten sticky. Preferably pictures to go along with the steps. Somebody told me I should check my wiring or something like that, but I highly doubt thats the problem… Also I thought chapstick is petroleum based also…
i use silicon spray for a quick fix,
and i have mechbox silicone grease, both used on my airsoft gun which has metal/plastic parts.
Only champs use cherry chapstick.
my quick conclusions
molycote44 (original seimitsu lubrication?) is better than shinestu (sanwa original lubrication)
on molycote44 joystick is quicker, has smaller resistance and nicer dynamics
I put molycote44 too all my stock sanwa panels (astro city panel, and SFIVTE sticks) and all act better for me.
