The article that THAT article references says they are non-playable characters via google translate. Probably menu announcers.
No idea wtf.

they are NPCs. no big deal
speed wagon is too moe to be playable.
Is it still a PS3 exclusive?
Yessir. Apparently Japan doesn’t care about 360 at all. I remember Metal Gear Rising getting full out cancelled on 360 (in Japan only, of course).
I might have to pick up a PS3 just for this game then.

I better be seeing this panel in game
excellent stuff, pete!
some other things I noticed:
Bruno appears to techroll after the blazing fists/clash with Jousuke. I’m not sure if an ukemi/techroll has been mentioned before, but I think we can probably assume it’s there for most knockdowns to prevent you from being taunted and OTGed. of course there are probably hard knockdowns as well, but if you notice more than a few times during the match, characters would stay on the ground for an extended period of time leading me to believe it’s a universal mechanic.
also something to note: at the end of Bruno vs. Jousuke, when Bruno gets KO’d, there are little blue sparks that fly off of him. these are the same sparks that we saw back in the trailer featuring Jousuke’s hair-insult mode, which we know grants him super armor. Bruno was in the middle of a (presumably, as he appears to be chaining L>M>) standing hard attack, so we can infer that prepared mode grants super armor (at least) while doing normals. I can’t wait for more footage!
also something I almost forgot, it looks like DIO’s air muda is a launcher. with that range and speed, that is some scary stuff~
Awesome!
Well, it looks like “post Green Baby” Pucci is the default, ehh? I’m going to guess his original look is a customization you can toggle.
At first I only saw Stairway to Heaven as his stand, but at a second glance you can see Whitesnake and C-Moon kinda squished in with the aforementioned. So hype to see how they make all 3 of Pucci’s stands work in the middle of a match.
And still surprisingly hype for PB Dio. I wonder what his Style button will function as? Maybe make his normals freeze opponents?
Oh man, too hype right now. Now if only we had Valentine confirmed we’d have ourselves a JoJo villain complete set!
indeed. the fact that the roster has been stated as 30+ characters means we’re not practically getting more than 35. with PB DIO and Pucci, we’re at 31.
any last guesses? I would assume Funny and possibly Weather; he could use a similar model to Pucci. they actually already have him as a stage hazard in the prison courtyard so maybe that means he’s out by default but who knows.
I’m really glad the leak list wasn’t true. it had wayyyyy too many characters on it; with the roster what it is, I think they can still possibly keep it not completely broken even with all the crazy abilities.
Nothing has deconfirmed the leaked list yet dude, I think its way too early to assume 45 characters would be horrible balance. We’ve seen so little of the gameplay, so at the moment I’ll take whoever they can throw at us. I think so far we’ve seen at least 1 minor character and minor villain per part so Diego Brando seems like a shoe in for Steel Ball Run and not getting Weather Report and FF would see odd in a game with someone as obscure as Akira Otoishi or unpopular as ACDC. Also despite Weather Report being a stage hazard, Dio Brando is also a stage hazard along with the Senator in the car in the Cairo stage. Koichi is also in the background of the Kira mansion but is also playable, likewise Cars is in the battle Tendency stage with Lisa Lisa as commentator similar to the manga. I assume when you chose that character they no longer appear in the background, similar to how Tron Bonne in MvC3 is in one stage background but is also a playable character.
I’m wondering now if we’ll see any other stages from part 6 and part 1, maybe the Joestar Manor for Part 1, not sure about Stone Ocean since I still haven’t finished it yet.
I highly doubt they would advertise their character roster as having “over 30 characters!” if there were more than 40. this is just simple advertising. also at the rate we’ve been shown characters, they’re on track to reveal 3-4 more and that’s it.
I can see the remaining dudes being Valentine, Diego, FF, Anasui and Weather Report.
I’m still holding out for Old Joseph though. And despite his Nazi status, Stroheim would be a fun character as well.
They’ve been revealing 2-3 characters every two weeks lately, that would make for 8-10 at the most, which is what I’m hoping for, but of course I already like the roster we have. Only character I would say I’m dying for is Dino Diego Brando, the best Dio.
I agree, I liked Diego alot more than Dio. I hate to say but Dio never really cut it for me, I found his motivation for being a badguy kinda lame.
But did you read pt.7 before pt. 6, bro? I remember you saying earlier you were still reading Stone Ocean.
yea…I skipped 5 and 6 because my friend REALLY wanted me to read SBR, since I heard it more or less works stand alone I did. I wish I read them all in order, but basically my jojo experience was this:
Part 3, 4, 1, 2, 7, 5, 6
Mostly because I started with the VIZ US release of part 3 and just went to part 4 seemed natural at the the time. I went back to 1 and 2 again on friend recommendation and found 3 a bit more rewarding in retrospect because of it. I’m now on the last two books of Stone Ocean (just about to start C-Moon chapters) and I’m really loving it though that shit is so crazy…every Stand is so surreal. It’s like in part 6 Araki was on a quest to top himself in terms of bizarreness. Anyway I’m a day or so from being able to proclaim I’ve read all parts 1-7, while I don’t like “skipping parts” I don’t necessarily have issue with people doing them out of order if they don’t mind spoilers (which unfortunate for me most of part 5 and 6 were spoiled before I read them anyway)
Part 7 has become my favorite part so I hope it gets more love in the form of stages or characters. Really like Stone Ocean too, it would bother me if a super short story arc like Part 2 got FIVE characters and 6 and 7 didn’t get at least 5 or 6 each. This game has Akira Otoishi and ACDC who are not popular at all (even Hol Horse isn’t very popular in japan), I’ve been thinking that CC2 is holding out on giving us more “fan favorite” characters [details=Spoiler](like Vanilla Ice, Iggy, Stroheim, Lisa Lisa, Yukako, Wekapipo, Soundman, Trish, Risotto Nero, Ghiacchio, Ciccolatta/Secco)[/details] for a sequel or we may see some crazy batch of announcements in the near future before release. Perhaps they may go the DLC route too, apparently Naruto recently got some DLC, but its clear they’re trying really hard to give fans the JoJo game they’ve all been waiting for so I’ve stayed pretty optimistic about equal representation for each arc.
Lol sweet man. Yeah I was first exposed to JoJo through the NA release of pt.3. I just assumed for the only part for the longest time. Wasn’t for a while did I know there was a lot more lol.
But jeah I really enjoyed pt.7 but my overall fav was pt.4. Its pacing seemed perfect and had a fun cast…it kinda reminded me of a TV show. Pts 2 and 3 are really close behind however.
I do hope they try to equalize the amount of reps. I get pt.3 getting the most reps since its “posterboy” status, but I’d be a little miffed if we didn’t see some more pt.6 dudes after Pucci.
Ultimately, still love the roster but jeah.
Though I agree in how awesome Diego is, I tend to disagree on the Dio thing (actually to be honest when I list favourite characters, I list both as one since I can’t pick a favourite of the two, it’s cheating, but I use the fact that they made the alternate Diego act more like the traditional one and gave him the world as an excuse).
Dio and Diego really had the same motivation IMO, ambition. Diego also has the desire to find his father, but since Dio managed to kill his father that really is a non-issue for him.
The only difference IMO is that Diego is far less sadistic than Dio, so you can buy the fact that he may be the the way he is because of his upbringing and sympathize with him more, while Dio goes far enough that his background really doesn’t excuse his actions, he probably that way because he was a sociopath.
Otherwise they act pretty similarly. Both were abused lower class children who tried to manipulate people in order to raise their station. Diego for the most part succeeded in what he set out to do, he kept winning races, and he managed to succeed in getting the wealth of the old lady he married. Dio would probably have ended up in the same situation as Diego (but a Lawyer instead of a racer) if he managed to get the money from the Joestars.
Unfortunately since Johnathan managed to stop him he was forced into a corner and used the stone mask. Suddenly Dio has a lot more power to back up his ambition, so his goals get bigger, and now he wants to control the world, because as far as he knows, no one outside Hamon users could really do anything to stop him (and he has a perfect counter for them anyway), so he could have conceivably done it. When he gets a stand, his power is raised further, and as a result his ambition is raised, so he makes the universe reset plan.
Diego pretty much does the same thing as Dio, as soon as he gets a stand his ambition starts to match his power,he tries to get the president to give him Manhattan for one. He just started doing it later because he didn’t have the means or the motivation to do so until then.
That’s actually a very good write up there man, I actually never though of it like that at all.
I dunno, for me personally I’m a guy who really believes in civility and etiquette, and it kinda rustled my jimmies to see Dio treating Jonathan SOOOOOO badly after his family took him in, treated him well and literally thought of him as a member of the family. I just didn’t like how despite how good Jonathan and George were to Dio, he still treated them both like crap (burning his dog alive, bro? Seriously?!).
I mean, lets face it, Jonathan is a nice guy. Even if Dio wasn’t next in line for the fortune, he still would’ve at least shared the wealth when papa Joestar died.
So basically, I didn’t like how Dio spit on the Joestar’s hospitality, lol. I know it’s lame but it’s kinda hardwired into me to do good by people who do good to you. Before I read pt. 1 thought he was cool villain though.
