I think the only major thing Mista had was his knee looped removed, and the damage on his projectile was changed(?)
Kakyion I think stayed the same, but benefited from TK’ing being brought back to the game.
I feel like since they patched out his super easy loops off hard knockdown in 1.02 people have mostly ditched Fatty. I mean, I’m getting this soley from watching matches on Nico/youtube. It sucks because I don’t own him yet and was curious as to how he fares in 1.03.
Vanilla Ice and Anasui should be coming up anytime right now.
apparently not, according to jp players. I see them place him in the A and B tiers in the BBS. I’m not exactly sure why hahah. I believe being able to act more efficiently in the air lets him setup “pass pass pass!” opportunities. I assume it’s also the same with having a cancellable 2H now. I’ll see if I can dig stuff out of the Mista thread itself.
Ok, Ice has some neat tools, but I can’t play like I was planning on playing him…
Let me play around with him for a bit and I’ll break down what he can do. The timer on the stand mode though is a real bummer, because it seems to be the only way he can fly around…
I’ll update as I play around more, but this is what I’ve found:
In SOff mode, you can hit 22, then L, M or H. Then you follow up with L, M, H. The first part of the command makes Ice send Cream into the ground as a ball. Follow up immediately with the second button press, and the second input makes Cream come back up and do an attack in a direction.
The balls are unblockable, and both going in the ground and out from it, the ball hits OTG. This would be great if you could do something immediately after landing an atack, but again, whether you hit or not, this will leave Ice posing and leaving a ton of recovery, which makes you wait before you can enter any more inputs. You CAN puttsun during this recovery so thats where combo potential may appear. This is probably where some of the more interesting mechanics will come in (but also make him work a little like Akira if you’re going to play the long distance game). He can kind of grief from a distance.
Down forward H in SOff is Ice’s OTG attack. It’s the same Kick he used against iggy. It hits like 7 times, and its great after any knock down. Only does like 13~ damage total
HHA is a throw. He gets into a ball, travels forward a little bit toward the enemy with his hand out, and if hits, he throws. It doesn’t seem to be able to be comboed into.
GHA can be comboed into (thanks patch 1.03), and it’s unblockable if it hits. It comes in from middle back of the stage and flies toward the stage at kind of a weird elliptical shape. It looks like it might be designed to catch people in the corner who like to jump away.
When in stand mode ON, nothing is combo-able. Each button makes him wrap up in the ball and then each press of the button does something different. All instances of this ball hitting the enemy is unblockable, and while the ball is active, you are invincible. I passed through some GHA/HHA attacks without getting hit.
If this SOn ball hits, its unblockable and a free knockdown, but if the enemy is too close to range, they can and will recover in time to be able to hit you so watch your ranges. The unblockable property is probably why his stand mode has a bar. You also CAN’T puttsun any recovery during the stand ball, so tough…
It also seems REALLY easy to sidestep or possibly SD, so I’m unsure of how usable it will be. It also doesn’t do a ton of damage, and when whether you hit or not, Ice stands in place for a bit to look around and make sure he hit something, so if you hit you have no opportunity it seems like to capitalize on follow up damage.
You can still run forward in this mode. Ice has a forward run in both modes.
His meter is only good enough for 3-4 balls… Thankfully it restores quickly.
Ice can input Forward and S after doing his 236 special (which is a high hitting shoryuken, looks kind of like Dans from street fighter), and this will get him some life back (the move is called “DIO SAMA”). You can also do 214 special which calls Cream out, and he’ll perform a special chop move which scores a knock down and can also be followed up with a forward stand dio sama blood suck.
Also, while you’re sucking blood, YOU DON’T GET STAND METER back. It freezes in place, so you can’t abuse getting life back and running the timer during the animation to get some cream bar back.
a command throw that launches high into the air for follow ups no need for puttsun. has long range
a dp that has Diver Down enter the opponent and ends in knockdown next you
214 has diver down do a ground pound that leaves a bounce trap similar to Echoes but it only affects the opponent. can easily follow up with J.M into whatever. Charging the move launches them higher
Stand On
Another command throw in which diver down enters opponent. Ends in knockdown far away. short rang grab
214 Diver Down dives into ground and comes up with move that varies with strength
L is a low M is a high that causes a ground bounce H is standard oraora fists. H version hits behind if close enough. H version is the only one that combos
All versions can be Stand Rushed
214 in the air is an overhead swipe that can be stand rushed. Causes ground bounce
Lvl 1 is comboable
Lvl 2 DD dives into the ground but comes up with an unblockable that goes into cinematic
6M is an overhead. doesn’t combo when canceled
For Ice, his 22A attacks hit OTG for both parts of the move. Also, all his attacks in Stand On are invincible from the start and for the whole duration he’s in the ball. His 3H kick barrage OTG also builds decent meter if you follow up hard knockdowns regularly with it.
I’m really on the fence about how I feel with Ice. I want to use his Stand On, but he seems… just bad with it. You’re too open. It’d be effective against a person who goes after you alot, but if someone is playing keepaway (like they should) or stylish dodging and side stepping appropriately, then he’s laughably easy to avoid. I’m not very happy atm. I hope some better players than me devise some good tech with him. I was waiting to main the guy, and I already foresee a lot of problems that might hold him back.
Just ordered another 1000 Yen card for the new guys. Can’t wait for it to clear. That half off deal is going on for a while, right? If I’m lucky I’ll be able to scoop up a third character. The only question is, do I hold off even longer for Baoh’s release, or buy Fatty along with Ana and Vanice? Ooh, decisions.
so when Ice’s 22A hits otg for the second hit (M variation), will it still launch them in the air? could you do somethhing like… (enemy in hard knockdown), 22M>PC 3H and then have the second hit of the 22M hit them up from the ground? shit would be hype.
