Have been experimenting with how they have changed the mechanic to break them as other peoples still work. As far as i can tell the characters now track and turn round during the invulnerable phase of wake up. Have experienced some very strange behavior as a result of this.
Setup FS into corner, Backdash, J mk. On Ryu for example in the left corner he will block the setup if blocked as a crossup. If you block regular he will simply walk into Abel without getting hit. For the most part though all the unblockable setups became very ambiguous fake cross ups so its not so bad.
Been playing with St Mp as an option to cover delayed wakeup as well as regular. It hardly gives you the most bang for buck but its a simple way to maintain pressure. Turns out some of the tried and tested setups cover everything.

The Mk roll setup times itself as long as you do not leave any frames spare when inputting. The Lk Roll setup requires a slight delay on the St mp to prevent the second hit whiffing on delay wake up.
Done correctly the first hit will hit meaty on regular wake up and the second will hit meaty on delayed wake up. Back dash attempts will get air reset (including chuns back dash) and as it is the second hit hitting so late you get about 4 years (maybe 5 years) to setup something as they land.
Obviously on block your -2 and due to the St mp hitting meaty on delayed you might even come out closer to even but that needs more testing.
First hit you can just cancel COD obviously. Second hit of St mp does not really combo into anything even if its meaty but you come out + frames on hit and can simply continue pressure.
I did try meaty jab with another normal OSed into it but they can simply throw/hit you out if they do delayed wakeup.
Also IIRC, if meaty second hit of st.mp gets a counter hit, you can combo into step kick. So this should blow up anyone pushing buttons after delayed wakeup
Not really sure myself. I prefer to use U1 for guaranteed damage against Gief. Maybe it’s to discourage meter building lariat? Gief with meter is mad scary nowadays…

No one’s really talked about how U2 is now more relevant due to red focus. Previously U2 was used in very rare situations, mostly because giving up the guaranteed damage of U1 made it a bit of a no brainer. Now that’s less of an issue since you can hit confirm into U2 after st.hp RFC, meaning U2 has more utility.
In saying that, I haven’t really picked U2 in forever, so I’m not sure which matches U2 is best for. Gief/Honda seem like viable choices.

anybody know exactly what got changed about far roundhouse? it does seem like a slightly better poke now, faster startup and apparently the hurtbox is different. seems to have very good reach
U2 is just really limited in raw uses when the parry was taken away. You cant even go through fireballs anymore. U2 used to rape any neutral jump, no it gets beat by any angled jump. U2 is pretty good anti air in some matches, but U1 just takes the cake since you can combo into it MUCH easier, with less meter, and fullscreen punishes fireballs. Just my opinion, I wish they gave him the parry while moving again. That shit still lost to two in ones, which made it horrible wake up, but it punished jumps so well.

I took a 3 year break from SF cuz it was so dry compared to marvel but have been basically forced to pick up SF again because marvel died in my local scene. too broken I guess.
s.rh is pretty dope now, it puts in work. reaches further than step kick, does good damage, advantage on hit. nice button to use vs. people who will dance in and out of f+mk range looking to counterpoke you
Ultra Abel most fun version of this character since vanilla altho I still miss the 220 damage fierce TT and 560 damage ultra
if u are geting st.hp to hit you would really prefer U1. CoD cancel is only 2 meters where as if u RFC into U2 it costs 3. U2 wasn’t meant to be used in a combo but i guess it looks cool.
also i just picked up the game for PC, (holy shit so many match ups now x_x) but st.rh is so dope. i play with a friend and started using that a lot more.
Yep, for sure. Just thinking about some match ups where U2 would have been preferred due to faster startup, so it can punish some things guaranteed that U1 can’t. Red focus means you aren’t giving up guaranteed damage of a step kick by picking U2 instead of U1 now.
