John Nelson, Tournament Legacy, and Team HORI

I wonder how much money FChamp and Wong got from TL for pimping out Revelations so much.

I wonder if either of them can straight faced deny that they got paid.

Gonna be on wakeupSRK with Keits, Skisonic & Fanatiq at www.twitch.tv/keits around 6:30 pacific talking about everything, see you there guys

I’ll be watching for sure.

Even though some of this stuff seems so deep that it should be discussed in IRL at like a big conference table or some shit. Were every individual that is truley involved can get there point across and reason with out any miss-assumptions or understandings or interference’s from people that are not truly involved. However, thread is just fine… love it. Just some deep shit.

You don’t go to tournaments.
You don’t go to ranbats.
You don’t go to play at your local friends house.

So your opinion truely means nothing and I mean NOTHING. Not because you just sit home all day but because you have the audicity to judge another player within the community, when you do not participate in any community events or even add true value. In fact, this statement goes out to >70% of you who are sitting here gibber jabbering about your opinions or conspiracy you thought of sitting alone in a corner.

You’re like a parasite, all you do is take from the community and add NO VALUE. You can hate fchamp all fucking day but he streams his gameplay which teaches the community better technology, he actually host tournaments at his house (such as Fraud Free Friday and now starting thurs tournament). Which is a safe enviorment where people can come to play and learn new stuff. He goes to ranbats and actually gives people advice on their gameplay. So before you judge next time, maybe you should take a look in the mirror.

This is exactly why I stay out of every fucking forum except my local-thread in NorCal.

You can’t argue with logic so you resort to baseless personal attacks. You think that’s a good way to sweep FChamp’s shady actions under the rug? LOL think again.

You assume a lot about me and > 70% of the posters here. You try to depict FChamp as some sort of good guy, but we don’t have to assume anything regarding FChamp. None of the >70% of posters you are insulting have ever done what FChamp did, such as:

-Called Tokido a faggot behind his back after Tokido gave him some friendly advice
-Disrespecting other players at Evo, everyone saw it on stream.
-Hurting Dios X’s feelings at Curly Moustache.
-Being rude to Julio after Julio beat him at NCR 2011
-Making a scene at Canada Cup when he was blocking a judge’s view of BlazBlue finals. Instead of just moving away when asked to, FChamp decided to be rude with the judge.

I didn’t even bring up these actions of Fchamp in my prior posts, but considering how YOU resort to baseless personal attacks, I’m only pointing out these facts as a counterpoint to your biased depiction of FChamp.

^Prime example of what the thread shouldn’t be about

Going over some stuff, cooling down, and talking to people, I don’t blame Wong, Champ, and others to much for stuff. I still really really REALLY dissagree with the fact that shit was promoted so heavily and feel that a lot of this stuff is being swept under the rug but as long as people are knowedlable about how shady Nelson is this thread has done it’s job. A witch hunt on players is not what this should be about.

I hate fchamp

-Lando

Lord_Raptor is right. This thread is morphing into an I hate Fchamp thread. Lets try to stick to the topic and hand.

As I see it, regardless of how shady you think John Nelson is, the only thing that should matter is the tournament. I think no one is giving ReveLAtions the credit it deserves because they have a problem with John Nelson. I can understand having strong feeling towards him, but if the tournament is run well and people get paid out, what’s the problem? The people who went all seem to think their respective tournaments were ran really smoothly and well (mostly because Tournament Legacy hired people of the respective communities to run the tournaments so everything would be as legit as possible), the only thing that is left to see is if people get paid.

If the paychecks come, I don’t think there’s much you could complain about as far as ReveLAtions is concerned. If the paychecks don’t come, then you have reason to be angry at the event. However, one thing that makes me upset is that even if the paychecks DO come and everything is legit, people are still going to boycott TL events because they hold a grudge with John Nelson, which doesn’t really help anybody and gives everyone less events throughout the year. People talk about the KoF situation and people walking out, but there was only a rumor about the pot being lowered and there wasn’t even a chance for TL or anyone else really to verify how much the pot was because it just ended up getting canceled because of the walk out. It was a bad situation, but basically no one has any proof either way, and people are still going to hold it against them.

I’m not saying I fully support everything Tournament Legacy has done, is currently doing, will do in the future, but no one is even giving them a chance to do good in the community. ReveLAtions could have been the best tournament in the world and people would still complain about John Nelson, Tournament Legacy, and the people involved. Sure some things went wrong and other things could have been better, but I don’t think the tournament itself was bad, the people who went and stayed seemed to have a lot of fun, there were some great matches, and the venue was pretty great in my opinion. Maybe I’m the only one who saw it, and maybe I’m going to get flamed for saying it, but it looked like Tournament Legacy was really trying and really putting in effort to do right by the community for every game they ran, they really wanted to have a great event, but there was just setback after setback that ensured that people were going to be complaining about something, even things TL had no chance of controlling.

Mike ross said sfxt was the best game ever. It wasn’t. I think he should be held accountable for the money I lost. Why did he lie?! Does complexity’s evil know no boundaries?

All to true. I can’t lie, I’m letting my own personal experience and things that have happened to my friends in the past cloud my judgment, but from what i’ve heard Revelations itself wasn’t a bad tournament and if people get paid in a timely manner I’m willing to take back alot of he things I’ve said. But there is always going to be that doubt in my mind and I’m always going to wonder fi the KoF community hadn’t dropped out would the SFxT Tournament and the KOF Tournament kept their pots?

And people bitching about the stuff Fanatiq and other said about the NOS girls really need to let that shit go. Not even important at all.

Take your feelings and cry somewhere else. My statement wasn’t that FChamp was a nice guy or the bully who called you a faggot behind your back. All I stated is that he supports the community and helps it drive forward by his actions (such as streaming, local tournaments and giving advice). I’m not assuming anything, i’ve been apart of this community since 2003 and actually originated from ComboVideos.com (Probably a site you’ve never heard of in your life).

I don’t agree with the witch hunt, but “just doing my job” is a flimsy justification. No other player should care about that.

Well I’m going to be honest, this is just a rumor, but it’s something I heard, SFxT singles were going to be straight up cancelled because not enough players showed up in general, but because people complained about it they decided to keep running it. That being said, I don’t think anyone can or will ever know what happened to the pots for those games, but to automatically assume the worst isn’t exactly fair to anyone, even to John Nelson and I don’t care who says what about that statement.

I am glad someone on the “other side” is trying to be chill. I think this kind of ties into “why didn’t you post this sooner, why wait until Rev2012” complaint, which is true. When I posted the original post the SFxT thing was still up in the air and KoF walkout didn’t even happen. Rev2012 was not a disaster yet, but it just pushed me personally over the edge. So I can see people are putting a bit too much into it. Which is also why I said if someone (such as yourself) had a good time at Rev2012 or at least didn’t have a problem with it (like FChamp), that’s cool and please provide that opinion. Doesn’t mean I’ll forgive JN for what he did in the past but you know, the fairest way is to gather as much information as possible.

From what it seems most of the issues are behind the scenes, or talking about TL’s business practices. Which, unfortunately, we’ll probably never get specific details about due to NDA, contracts, etc. Like literally, all we had is what MarkMan said earlier: “only 1/8 of the sponsors last year returned”. Could’ve been for any reason, could’ve been 100% they hated TL’s business practices. siigh

That’s all perfectly reasonable, but as I said earlier, even if you have a problem with John Nelson, which is perfectly fine and I understand, as long as the tournaments he runs are done well or at least decent enough and everyone gets paid, what’s the problem? Personally I think the tournament was run well enough, I know Hit Box was having a good time (when we weren’t worried about drama and a clear bias against the event), the people there seemed to have fun, all that remains to be seen is whether or not the paychecks come, and if they do ReveLAtions will have officially been a good tournament, which makes me sad that if it does happen it won’t even matter because of personal vendettas with John Nelson.

Ryan said on WSRK that his experience was awesome and had a good time, but he shouldn’t have promoted RevLA so heavily and researched better before promoting…

In the case for KOF no one got paid because it was cancelled. The Answer specifically mentioned he couldn’t even get a verbal confirmation from John Nelson that there would be a $3k pot so they bailed out. So no, at the absolute minimum 1 tournament was NOT run well at all.

Can anyone know what happened with T6? Lack of results page makes figuring things out a complete clusterfuck.

That wasn’t the fault of the tournament though, TheAnswer and everyone else walked out and didn’t even give the tournament a chance. Can’t run a game without players and there’s no saying what would have happened if KoF actually ran. It’s not like TL ran everything 8 hours late or something.
