And all of this would be over if certain individuals actually bothered suck up their self-righteous pride to take a second and clear shit up.
It really isn’t very important in the grand scheme of things.
The Truth in Advertising: Can’t spell Revelations without Lies. http://ceogaming.org/blog/36-blog/173-revpost
I hope people are honest in their experiences this year good or bad. I felt the need to post my experiences with revelations in the past and just maybe provide some tips and pointers on how I feel people should treat others when it comes to “business” of putting on events. Have a Jebaileyful Day.
A respected endorser does indeed have power. They can most certainly tell someone to NOT do something and they would do it. All it takes is charisma and work ethic and the will to succeed.
Justin Wong did all of that in the Marvel community.
Sighs
Regardless, all of this is over, and we may never get answers.
And what if they didn’t think it was shitty?
It is all a matter of perspective. If they felt that they didn’t screw the community, then it is on their conscious. The facts remain though that TL couldn’t guarantee a $3k pot for KOF XIII, even though he advertised it as such. Taking that into consideration, how many other games would he have screwed over if, “there wasn’t enough people”. Keep in mind, Oscar brought in 40 from SoCal and Mexico to play in that tournament, and JN didn’t think that it was “enough” to warrant said pot.
If they didn’t think it was bad then that’s awesome. Who are we to say how they should think?
One last plea before I take off for the night: can we drop the subject of the players? I know I personally asked for them to give feedback, but at this point it’s not worth the effort. If they do want to share whatever they want to share, let it be on their terms. I don’t want them to feel like they were forced by the community or TL to say one thing or the other. I want it to 100% be what they feel is the right thing to do. If they feel the right thing is to stay out of it, that’s fine too. I know of plenty of other respectable and established FGC members who have told me cool story, but I don’t want to get involved.
And honestly, Fanatiq comes out and says his bit, and he immediately gets flamed by everyone. Regardless of what he said/didn’t say, he at least said something. After the reception he received, do you think any other player is going to come into this thread with an unbiased mind? Everyone just calm down, and read Jebailey’s blog post as it is a very informative piece not necessarily about TL, but about how to properly establish yourself in the community, run a great event, and just do business right.
Did you notice where KillerKai came in, said he didn’t really have any personal problems with the tournament, and nobody said anything about him or took issue with it? Don’t come in passive-aggressively insulting people, and people might be receptive to what you have to say.
So… any updates as to whether KOF players are getting their refunds?
Lets not forget that alot (at least some) of us on this thread also donate our hard earned money to some of these top players to simply continue entertaining us. Even if it’s $1 to help them with gas money. I’m not saying “big” names owe us anything, but it’s also a slap in the face when some of us LOST some hard earned money in the Active Gamers incident, and the “big” names we look up to basically shrug it off. On top of that, I’ve noticed alot of the “big” names also put us all into a huge group of “No name stream monsters” that basically get looked down upon. Most people who attended JN’s tournies in the past have all lost money in some way or another. Anyone remember waiting outside that gym for about 3-4 hours in ICE COLD weather? With frozen hands, I might as well have played in that tourny with my feet.
I guess those “big” names don’t care about helping the community they paved the way for (especially now that raffles were exposed as illegal). These past recent weeks have made me really regret donating to every “big” name I ever did. Most of them have all shown there true colors.
Man that is just sad, hearing about howmany players and companies got screwed over. What happened to Tatsu btw? Well anyways, can’t they/he be sued? Its probably a little different in the fighting game community but you shouldn’t be able to promise or write down a certain pot then last minute only give 10% or not give any revenues or w/e they promised Madcatz and such (Reading from the OP and AndyOCRs post) sounds weird.
Rev. 2012 was a mess, I first didn’t see why it was so hated but the info just stacks up. Edit: Read Redrappers post as well, what a douche.
Just to touch on ReveLAtions 2011, Mad Catz was not promised anything. However after talking to TWO sponsors of 2011’s event. Two of them mentioned to me that after the event they were asked for some percentage of their sales as payment to TL for being at the event. We weren’t asked for that… However, one of the reasons that they were asked for it was because some sponsors did not come through with the payment… However when both of these sponsors told me that they heard Mad Catz was one of the sponsors that didn’t pay up, that caught me by surprise. Especially when we paid on setup day of the event with a live check after donating over $5000 in prizes as well.
I just wanted to clear that up. I’ve remained very quiet about this but since money / Mad Catz was brought up I just wanted to say that the money thing is no issue to us. We don’t sponsor events to make money, we are there to support the community and it’s people.
I don’t think it is a coincidence that only 1 of the 8+ sponsors of ReveLAtions 2011 came back for their 2012 event.
BTW, sorry I didn’t reply to any PMs, it was a busy day at work.
Wait…seriously?
What in the fuck…
Wait…seriously?
What in the fuck…
We’re talking about this tournament right? Did all those names mentioned even came? Specicially iPeru, and Air Ryu

Are you serious? A lot of people do this all over Twitch for casters in general. People donate money, games, subscribe to their channel, watch their ads (most people who do this are VERY vocal about it and will lash out at you if you even mention an ad-blocker), general gifts (coffee, a t-shirt, a mug, whatever), etc.
There are some casters who’ve received so many games they don’t even know what to do with them all.

I THINK ITS TIME FOR THE LATE NIGHT SHOW WITH LIJOE TO GET THESE PEOPLE IN A CHAT TOGETHER!
Was only a matter of time. It’s not real FGC drama until Triforce starts interjecting.
yooooooo this shits getting real!
Who still gives a fuck about Triforce’s opinion? I can’t take him seriously after he fell apart on WSRK.
