You know what’s funny about being a great tournament? It’s 100% subjective. One man’s awesome tournament can be another’s shitty tournament. How can you blame someone for promoting a tournament? Do you yell at President Palmer whenever your All-State insurance doesn’t come through as expected? They can just be spokespeople and not the ones running it. Seriously, these are differences you should be able to spot when you hit five years of age.
Fanatiq cannot be compelled to talk, but it doesn’t make him shady. What it does is weaken the support for the tournament. FChamp probably doesn’t even care about talking about it. These are not “shady” dealings. It’s more “shady” for the guy in charge not to defend himself.
If people get the impression the FGC is just another maelstrom of hate, they don’t see how arguments are being solved in a civil way like it is here. A lot of people in this thread are trying their best to ignore the “entertaining” side of the problem. There’s enough room for discussion, but people affiliated with TL decide to be mute intentionally, just like the “popular” players who could easily help clear this up. How can we ever expect to see the other side of the story?
Like most of the other guys who were pretty elaborate on describing their experiences, I’m against all violence but will definitely support any actions being made to prevent these shady tournaments from happening again. Be it in the form of petitions or whatnot. Anything I can do from another continent.
But when you have no money, and I don’t mean gas money, I mean you have to make it to a hospital or shelter by 9 to get a bed for the night, I promise you will see things differently.
I’m not saying you’ll become a murderer, but you’ll turn an eye to the paper bag people pay you to not notice every now and then.
I can tell you right now if someone came up to me and said “advertise this not so great item on tv and have your mother’s medical bills paid and your father’s funeral bills properly settled” I wouldn’t hesitate.
He didn’t kill anyone, nor threaten their livelihood, it’s the same as when Tony Hawk promotes a shitty video game.
In the big scheme of things, it was a saturday you’ll never get back, that’s it.
Not saying what Fchamp and the others did something righteous, but if people are sheep enough to listen to some dude in his house playing video games to go out of their way JUST BECAUSE HE SAID SO deserve a little real world experience.
You obviously don’t get it. Wong and Champ twitter flooded a bad tournament, and you don’t think that they, and this goes for all of you too, shouldn’t be at least a bit responsible for it? Giving TL a bad rap is understandable, but no one should be giving those two a free pass just because of the fact they promoted a tournament that every game in it had some form of a bonus pot, hell, even the fact that Pokemon got a bigger bonus pot than Tekken(which gets more play than Pokemon) should have raised some sort of red flags to said top players.
All those two care about though was the bonus pots for AE and Marvel. Screw anything else. They need to do their homework before they promote.
Fanatiq is saying that others like KaoticDragon, Wolfkrone and RedRapper are making posts full of errors, when asked by Redrapper to point out those errors, Fanatiq simply dodged him, while the facts presented by KaoticDragon, Wolfkrone and RedRapper have been confirmed by AndyOCR and others. Fanatiq is full of shit and shady as hell.
FChamp is a good friend of Alex Valle, of course Fchamp would know the reasons why Level Up dissociated themselves from Tournament Legacy. Even Mike Ross and Gootecks knew better than to attend Revelations.
FChamp knew how corrupt Tournament Legacy was, yet he still actively told his stream monsters to attend revelations. That’s the actions of a shady man.
Eh, in my personal experience with Justin, he’s super nice. I can’t imagine him saying no if someone asked him to help promote their tourney, no matter the circumstances. Hard to fault someone for being that nice.
Also can anyone prove that T6 gets more play than Pokemon? I get that we’re in a FGC and it makes sense to say that on SRK, but I actually heavily doubt that there are more T6 players than Pokemon players.
Some people are starting to get ridiculous now. Just because aspects of a tournament end up being bad for some doesn’t mean they’re bad for everybody else. You can’t start yelling for people’s heads for promoting an event that had some problems because not everybody is going to experience those problems.
Chik-Fil-A employees don’t twitter flood their products either, the company does. Nor does their employees endorse the principles of the company, and have the option of endorsing their products to their friends.
Wong and Champ were twitter flooding a tournament that they clearly had a vested interest in. I won’t speculate at this point whether or not they were paid to endorse the tournament outside of their respective teams, but if they have, wouldn’t they be put into a position where they had to put on a happy face for the tournament, and when it goes south, they suddenly have their tongues cut out as to why they promoted the tournament in the first place?
We deserve answers, at the very least, from those two as to why they so heavily promoted that tournament the way they did.
The OP is right, the focus should be on getting some kind of resolution in regards to TL, whether JN steps up to give some answers or other players give their side of the story. At this rate shit will just get closed.
You don’t think Chik-Fil-A members don’t love how their benefits are setup, how they get Sunday off?
I had a gay friend who worked at CFA years before this shit happened and not once did he ever mention to any of us that they treated him poorly. You want to know why, because at the local level, CFA is a friendly establishment with only the best intentions, it just so happens to be run by an asshole.
Probably just like TL, a team full of people who love fighting games run by either a small group or one small asshole.
So please, don’t try to put some proverbial gun to endorser’s heads, nor the staff who work for TL, they are not your targets, they have no power.
I’m pretty easy to get along with in real life, so I speak from experience. Sometimes nice people do get taken advantage of, and with a wild card like JN, I don’t know what kind of trouble he could have gotten himself into. That is why I at least want answers.
This is getting ridiculous. People are demanding answers from players because they endorsed a major? And I’m pretty sure I saw someone compare this crap to the civil rights movement in the last couple pages.
