Alright, guess it’s timed I chimed in with what happened BACK IN 2009!!! A lot of people are unaware, but Tournament Legacy used to go by another name, Active Gamers. They threw a tournament back in 2009 called Triple Threat which was a disaster. John Nelson should have been hung for what he did back then or at least stopped from ever making another tournament. I made a huge thread on SRK and basically shut Active Gamers down for good (with the help of all the posters in the thread). I had John Nelson calling me out on streams telling me that I didn’t know what I was talking about even though I’m a huge veteran in the community. looking back on what I said a few pages back about complaining to sponsors and shit about top players going to this tournament was definitely a line I did not mean to cross, yet I did do so. I made a mistake, which happens all the time in life.
The fact that top players like Fanatiq are being told (by other top players no less) not to come in the thread and post is somewhat interesting, I think. It makes me want to think that somewhere, somebody at TL is hopefully watching this thread. Some tournaments are great (Evo and CEO are two great examples that come to mind here), and some tournaments have problems (Revelations would fit into this category with all that happened, especially with the KOF tourney effectively walking out after the pot couldn’t be guaranteed).
In conclusion, people do make mistakes; and Nelson here has had more than his fair share of mistakes and fuckups. I think it’s now obvious he needs to not be the TO for any more SoCal tournaments.
tl;dr version: I’ve never been to these tournaments (I lived in Norcal once upon a time), but it’s obvious Nelson has issues and he needs to step away as the TO and let someone competent run Revelations going forward.
You know I remain quiet in a lot of things on the FGC, I am a huge lurker. But after this I will say I will never say I am part of this community again. While it does seem that John nelson has been at fault for some things, he is not the only one. For some people to be so one sided in this argument is silly. One must always look at both sides of the discussion. But the split I have seen between casuals and pros has left me knowing this. The FGC is nothing, it does not exist, and Fanatiq say what you want to people but by not even giving your side of why you disagree with all of this, you have lost all credibility to me. you went right to insulting people and putting down others. If you left some cryptic message for people to figure it out, you are an idiot, and I hope you get your stream shut down for all the times you use “nig” in any way, shape, or form. I did plan on going to my first tournament next month in Ohio after 16 years of casual play. Now that is not going to happen because honestly if I go I would be afraid of; A) not being welcomed at all, B) dealing with some BS like not getting money or screwed overall for being new, and C) meeting someone like you or FChamp who can say they are sorry for something yet never mean it. This is not a community this is a cluster fuck of disappointment and I found myself defending the FGC to friend after friend for years and anymore I don’t see how I can do it. This is my only post I may ever make on these forums, and while some troll will come along to make me seem like some butt-hurt fan-boy I no longer care this community is dead and I hope the pot money goes away from all tournaments to humble these these “pros” that think the average fan means less than some blind troll who makes joke after joke at the expense of others.
Goodbye FGC maybe one day you will get your shit straight, but anymore I really doubt it.
All im sayin is, If i were to come into a thread, then call people by name, and say that they’re posting inaccuracies/half truths… what have you. I would be prepared to post why their posts were inaccurate, with some sort of supporting evidence. To say that the thread is unworthy or your response, kinda falls flat when you take the time to call people by name and say that they’re not telling the truth.

Yes, out of context. I did not call you a coward, nor did I say you were afraid to speak your mind. There is a sizable difference between saying your actions could be construed as cowardly and calling you a coward. Besides, the entire line you addressed me with had NOTHING to do with what I said. You just took that one word and ran with it.
For a thread you don’t think is worth taking seriously, you have managed to talk about it multiple times on stream, tweet about it repeatedly, and post nearly double-digit times in it. You have made comments about people being biased, accused people of lying, said their facts are wrong or that there are flaws in their statements. That’s a lot of effort for something you’re apparently dismissing. Why not go the extra foot and actually explain what you’re talking about? You have spent a lot of time and words contributing absolutely nothing, all while indignant that it’s not worth your time and words.
I don’t have a problem with you not wanting to talk about it. I have a problem with you pretending like you don’t want to talk about it while half-assed talking about it constantly. If you have a light to shine on the subject, shine it. If you have issues with what other people said, point them out. Do you mean that Season’s Beatings will be your first tournament? Trust me the people that play there/organize that event are NOTHING like Fchamp, Fanatiq and the other shady stay at home raffle “pros”.
The SB guys volunteer a lot of their time to give their players a good time, and in case you haven’t noticed, the FGC, from all regions, are very generous when it comes to charity drives, and I heard the man behind Seasons Beatings gives a lot to charity even outside FGC events.
A few bad apples like FChamp and Fanatiq does not mean the rest of the community is like that.
Sometimes though, sponsors does need to be called out though. While yes, major sponsors have not sponsored Revelations by sending teams(MadCatz comes to mind), this so called blackout on this thread by top players is interesting indeed.
We, the lower level players, look up to top players for their playstyle and the top players should look to us to fund the pots that they win. But pretending that a problem doesn’t exist is career suicide.
Apparently, Justin Wong and Filipino Champ wants, and deserves at this point, to be thrown under the bus for affiliating with TL/JN.
That’s just not fair. How are Fanatiq and F. Champ shady? What have they done to you that warrants being called out in that manner? They are just players, and play for money. That is NOT wrong. In fact, that’s how this website started! We’re all competitive players and we want to get good enough to win cash at tournaments. And the raffles weren’t bad, either. If you bought into it, and you didn’t win, you knew the risks unless you are a complete fucking idiot and, judging by your post, I believe you are.
There is a difference between selling out and being above what you are doing for others. 6 months ago I started working for a company and I knew the stuff they were doing wasn’t really sustainable. It was shady under-handed stuff but never illegal. but at my core it bugged me. I compromised for my family. My opinions and moral convictions will not ever feed my family, pay the rent for them to live in and keep the lights on for them to enjoy life. That company went against everything I believed in the tech world, they were a bane but my family was more important than my values. True to form I ended up getting laid off because, like I said, what they were doing was not sustainable.
So when I read about players supporting tournament, I give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps Justin Wong is taking care of the grandma he loves so dearly. F.champ has made it very well known he is super close to his grandma and she had some serious health issues and I can see him using money he wins for her too. Some of these players are playing for a livelihood to help support themselves and others that they care for. This isn’t to say that the decision is always noble, because you also have the flip side of that where there are players that just care for delf and where the and how the paper comes to them is irrelevant and on rare occasions you have those who robin hood it. They see sharks like JN who want to pimp the game but get pimped themselves.
I’m confident after reading what the important people within our community have said, it’s a safe bet the dude is just a shyster. Enough reputable people are yelling fire then it’s a safe assumption there just maybe something going on. For me it took confirmation from gootecks and Wolfkrone to have me shut the stream off. I saw replays of the just nonsense that was NOS girls with Fanatiq (working his hand). At the end of the day it’s about choosing a side, is about showing what your intentions are, just say that A) you do it becuase it’s your job and you need it, B) You are working the game to your advantage ala Robin Hood Style or C) You really don’t give a shit and it’s all about paper. I don’t need John Nelson to eat so for me it’s an easy decision, fuck 'em.
As for the players it may hurt, sorry guys. When you sleep with a child you gotta realize sometimes you may just wake up with pee in the bed. We are a collective and the stuff this guy does affects the sustainability of the FGC, he was ousted by one community and somehow slipped into ours because we didn’t know better. All this has come to a head, this isn’t a sudden random explosion.
They are shady because they lie and twist the trust, simple as that.

It’s not that simple. You shouldn’t compromise integrity for money, and that is something that Justin Wong and Filipino Champ has shown that they did with their twitter flood advertising.
The only raffle I ever paid into was Gamecenter’s charity raffle. I didn’t mind the players raffling off things, though. It wasn’t my business. And they didn’t lie or twist anything. They aren’t even talking about it. A kindergartner knows the difference. Thanks for letting us know your grade-level.
How stupid are you? FChamp was clearly telling his stream monsters that Revelations was a great tournament and actively told them to sign up for it.
Fanatiq said the posts here from the thread starter, Wolfkrone and others were full of errors. When asked by RedRapper to point out those errors, Fanatiq prompty dodged him. That’s why FChamp and Fanatiq are shady.
I shouldn’t compromise my integrity if it means my family will go hungry? Eat nuts dufus! Doesn’t mean that I want to stay and continue to earn it but it it took me taking a dick in my mouth if it made sure my family was going to be well off? I’d do it in a second, NOT even a question. I’m really trying to veer away from the “you just don’t get it” angle but it’s true. I have a life that I love more than anything else, fuck my own integrity, my love out does all that. Doesn’t mean I want it to be the way forever, it’s short sighted. I knew I had to get out of that gig before the house of cards came down, told friends, family, etc… House fell before I had a chance to get out.
Personally, I’d prefer it if we’d drop the debate about the players. We’re trying to get answers from TL, or get TL out. I doubt Justin, Fanatiq, Champ, etc can do either. I just wanted to get player experiences since I did not watch Rev2012 and for all I know it could’ve been a good tournament. But I’m not gonna press the issue.
