John Nelson, Tournament Legacy, and Team HORI

And then RR doesn’t get paid?

OH!

Jesus Christ the amount of stream monster bullshit in this thread is fucking dumbfounding. If you haven’t experienced any of this first hand you really shouldn’t voice your opinion.

I just wanna dickride for a minute and say you did great on commentary considering the situation and lack of support from another commentator. Also, I hope you got $5/hr babysitting fee extra for Noah lol.

alright edited the OP:
linked to different people’s stories (let me know if i missed any big ones), added at the beginning to read the forum rules, asked posters not to attack guys like jwong, fanatiq, etc. for attending rev or tweeting about it, threw in andy’s post in the part where i tell my version of that story

I’d really like to know what your personal experience and opinion on all of this is, and to hear exactly what everyone else who’s experienced the 2011 Revelations is saying that’s incorrect. Not to try and call you out on just saying random things, but you’ve basically said people involved are wrong/misinformed, and haven’t said a word to back up these claims but simply, “This isn’t worth my time to elaborate on.” Every intelligent person in this thread looks at what you’ve said and should disregard it without question.

What you’re doing is the equivalent of walking into a group of people telling their stories/experiences telling people they’re wrong, and then walking out when they ask for an explanation. Just because it’s a topic on the internet doesn’t mean that it’s not equally as pointless/rude.

Seriously though, for the sake of intelligent discussion, tell us your side of the story. The trolls can make jokes, and the rest of us adults can go ahead and talk about the issue at hand.

obviously the top players won’t say much because they don’t want to talk badly about a tournament when that’s their source of income. Its stupid though to come on the thread and post that you’re not going to contribute anything useful

this is a good point. maybe i was too hasty to ask for these guys to talk about their experiences, never considered it =(

Honestly, I’d far rather listen to Noah on the mic than F.Champ yelling “PELICAN POOPTRICK” ad infinitum, Fanatiq with the NOS girls, or Maximilian And His Merry Band of Wacky Cosplayers.

I heard that enough times this weekend that now I go out of my way to kill any pelicans I encounter. Shit, they don’t even have to be pelicans. Fuck birds.

please enlighten us, oh wise one.

Believe me, if there was anything seriously bad at the tournament worth exposing that I saw, I would’ve done it already. I can’t comment on the KOF situation because I wasn’t around for it.

“Guaranteed” Is such a strong word. And by the looks of it all this guy sees in his mind is dollar signs, and his eyes wide open like $_$. Get this fool out of the FGC asap.

Yeah, it goes back to the payment method for the winners. If everyone has to fill out some form and wait a month for the check, that basically zips the mouth of all the top placers for a month to maximize their chances of getting paid the amount they’re owed.

You can clear up any misinformation in this thread. A lot of this isn’t prejudice, either. I’d figure many posters who came into this thread didn’t know what to expect, read the negatives, saw an entire community cancel its tournament along with stories in the past from other players, and no one really came to TL’s defense with conflicting information. This is your opportunity to set a few things straight if you want. Or don’t do it. Whatever.

EDIT: well at least KillerKai is talking about what he knows, so there’s that.

Just got off the phone with a source close to Level|Up who basically wanted to point out one thing regarding SCR 2010’s success that has already been stated but might’ve been lost in the thread (added this to the OP as well):
In terms of running the actual tournament, LU did the work. Scheduling, brackets, laying out the rules, what have you. As SCR2010 was the only tournament I attended that was run by TL (couldn’t attend Rev 2011 due to work), I can testify that:

  1. i considered it a successful tournament (think i said this before). I signed up for AE and BlazBlue
  2. I only saw Level|Up/FGC people around the floor. Valle running AE brackets. I think Xie did BlazBlue, although it was Dacidbro being tall and loud that called matches for the players. Jimmy Nguyen was on the house mic calling out general instructions for the tournament. Frank and AJ as always, were doing the stream.

I didn’t add this in the OP but the guy also wanted to say that for Rev 2011, LU was only involved in the streaming portion.

I respect that you at least came on the thread and are being honest. Obviously its silly to consider players as role models, but what you guys say or don’t say has a bigger impact than you might think

Mr. Fanatiq

Please tell your side of the story, bring the details and tell what story has something wrong, I told you on twitter that you need to speak and give out your reasons. What I saw was a “YOU’RE WRONG AND I’M NOT BECAUSE I’M RIGHT” and nothing else.

Also it is not only me asking for details, theres 40-50 people who posted here (being trolls or not) who want to know what is your side of the story.

Regards.

P.S. If you don’t well, it’s okay.

Sometimes it’s necessary. When major problems arise in the FGC, it’s better to address them rather than pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows and just ignore everything. Ignoring problems won’t make them go away. In fact, it’d probably make this situation worse by ignoring it rather than addressing it. The community does not need people that take advantage of it and never take responsibility for their actions.

So in 2011, me and John Nelson went to Red Robins, a restaurant in LA. He had the Royal red robin burger and I had a salad. Well everything was going fine until the very end. So he paid for the bill, which he promised me he would, but he didn’t tip the waitress.
