Man, I haven’t touched Tekken since 3.
But ever since this was announced and from playing Soul Calibur 5, I want to pick up Jin again and his pops Kazyua.
I have question about the special step, I don’t understand the netural part for the motion. Is the motion just like the traditional SF shoryuken input or do you have to delay it.
there’s no delay its just getting the pattern down.
Ah ok.
Thank you for clearing that up.
not seen any laser scraper or his f+4 or 2,1 and a bunch of other signature moves, though e has some crouch dash stuff… then that projectile meh … atm I am really dissapointed but well not to long and we can all test him in march …
Personally I think Jin and Hwoarang are gonna be a good team. You have Projectile Traps alongside the Master of Mixups.
are CDs cancellable via hitting a different direction during the CD animation? just wondering
I think i might have Jin and Lili. Both of them have good mix ups and one of them can actual zone pretty well XD
I’m using Jin and Hwoarang like I said in the Hwoarang thread. They are both two of my fav characters and look like they could compliment each others game’s rather well.
I have to ask as I’m not sure if you use Jin’s Power stance or whatever to dodge/parry attack then hit the opponent does it count as a counter-hit? Can Jin combo off that? If so then O_O
If you’re talking about Mental Alertness, well tradionally in Tekken, he could combo off his MP follow up (Swaying Willow) though that move has always been horrible and you don’t get much of a combo. He could also combo off MK follow up (Right Sweep Kick) against big characters only. His LP,MP follow up (Swinging Fist Strikes) was great wall splat so in a sense a combo starter. Swinging Fist Strike was also a great dodge and attack move in Tekken since Mental Alertness makes you step back a bit.
Sorry I meant power stance but thank you as I didn’t think about mental awareness counter attacks until you gave me ideas. I wanted to know if power stance parries/dodges then attacks are automatically counter hits since it looks like it can eat a hit.
Jin is definitely going to be one of my mains, as he has a extremely brutal set of attacks, mix-ups, and even a few long range options. Jin will probably be a mid-tier character, if not a high-mid tier character.
Accordingly to my analysis, we can play some mind games and zone with Jin’s Penetrating Fist, controlling some space. If the player is passive-aggressive, they will probably do a little left and right movement and periodically stall the opponent with Penetrating Fist or Pokes. The opponent will try to jump-in - the player can jump to avoid the opponents attacks, anti-air, or block. A traditional link combo and/or target combo, and probably the Median Line Destruction or one of Jin’s target combos will be our best friend here. Those who pay attention the opponent moves will counter attack every chance they get - his Thrusting Uppercut/Right Roundhouse Uppercut provides a little extra damage from counter hits and juggle potential. The player should also try to use Mental Alertness and the appropriate follow up to keep the opponent guess while hurting them. Keep using the Penetrating Fist (distances appears to be influenced by which button you press)… While using the Penetrating Fist, the player is gonna have to do some estimating and carefully time when the opponent moves or attacks. This will probably be a basic strategy for patient/passive players: Control space with the Penetrating Fist and time the opponents dashes, back dashes, wave dash, jumps, and where they might end up after they execute their attacks. These players will end up saving some meter (while only using it for Supers or EX Power Stance/Median Line Destruction and then using a target combo (or a quick BnB) - which either lead to a knockdown, a tag-in, or a Super.
Special stepping and then using the close or medium Penetration Fist might help if your reaction time is decent. Yeah… Reaction time is going to be a recurring element with someone like Jin, should anyone main him on this game.
I am the type of player will enjoys aggressive game play. The players here who share the same sentiment will most likely try to take full advantage of Jin’s 6 hit target combo whenever the opponent gets too close. The Flare Kick, Thrusting Uppercut, will play a pivotal role after back dashing from a jump-in (waiting until the opponent is left open finishing their attacks and keeping safe from special that have start-up invulnerability). These players will most likely make very good use of Jin’s special step and they can either use one of Jin’s attacks during the special step or they stop moving and block in order to keep themselves safe and continue Jin’s onslaught. The Wave dash can go through most projectiles, so if… Sagat threw a Tiger Shot at Jin, while at a distance, Jin can carefully wave dash and then conduct a few BnB combos.
Or… The Jin player might not attack at all, because he could be expecting Sagat to utilize the Tiger Knee or the Tiger Uppercut to counteract them, but Jin’s special step would have already closed the gap between them and block the attack in time… And then the player juggles them for some more painful BnB’s and tag-ins. Maybe even a Cross Art.
There is a stance system that players can use too. So maybe after the player uses one or target combo’s - or if they want to close the distance with the special step (Lunging Roundhouse to Flare Kick might be a blessing if the opponent gets reckless), the players can stop their move, take one or two seconds to avoid or guard incoming attacks and then use the Mental Alertness to play more mind games and devastate the opponent if they mess up (counter hits will also be a blessing).
This game is just around the corner, along with 12 new DLC characters.
I am still a bit worried about Jin’s team placement…
Would Hwaorang be a good choice for real? What about others, like Ibuki, M.Bison, Yoshimitsu, or Lili… other characters in general?
Are their any theories revolving around appropriate partners, tag cancels, Pandora mode, or the timing his charge moves? And, what about the Gems? If a player should ever use them, how would you set up Jin?
Here’s some more Theory Fighter for you
Hworang will be a good character simply because Spacing Traps with someone’s who’s High/Low game is gonna be hard to detect, then yeah, it’ll be good.
With Ibuki, there will be a Vortex and Spacing traps going on.
Bison will have Vertical Air space control, and with Jin doing Horizontal, it’ll be even better.
I don’t know enough about Yoshi or Lili to say anything.
Theory Fighter… Glorious. I meant to speak about the entire roster for potential, not just the few characters that I’ve mentioned, among other things. Forget about it. Let’s NOT discuss Jin’s game play strategies! What a great idea!
Making teams for SFxT isn’t going to be as involved as something like Marvel. Your primary two concerns are going to be switch cancel combos/setups and covering each others’ bad match-ups. But honestly, it seems like you can really just go with whichever two characters you like best.
Later on, individuals who intend on playing SFxT will discuss their experiences with their tag cancels and their set ups when the game comes out. It might be too early to consider what is best for Jin. We are just going by what we have now to keep the discussion going…
I’m hoping Crackfiend can do a walkthrough for Jin as he looks like he has the tools and potential to become A tier.
Lol fuck you.
Anyway, I think it’s best to discuss set ups now. As opposed to later. Theory Fighter is better than ‘Lets wait and see’.
Also, Stilly hyped for Jin.
And you post this AFTER I commented on another post saying that people can just wait until the game is released to speak about Jin’s game play then. I also stated that we were going by what we have right now so that people will already be prepared of what moves to make before the game comes out. We have more than a few videos and his move set to discuss Jin’s game play, much like we’ve BEEN doing since this thread even started. (That also includes every other SFxT character thread - but you don’t seem to have a problem with THEM doing the same thing now do you?) If you wish to wait and see, then shut the fuck up and do so, and don’t post anymore comments until then! Have fun with your little “Theory Fighter” … if you think it is fun… or if it even exists… Everyone else on this thread will be playing actual fighting games, especially SFxT when it comes out!
Never seen someone so randomly hostile about speculation in a speculation thread… Calm down buddy, we’re all fwiends here
Jin looks okay, but I haven’t seen anything really stand out about him yet, or anything that makes me say “That’s really strong” and I’ve seen that for a lot of characters. I’m guessing he’s gonna be something like mid-tier but who knows. Hopefully the level up your game crew, or fingercramp or crackfiend do a vid over him soon.
