Jill fell out of a window. The Chris Redfield Teammates discussion thread

i personally use chris(gunfire)/haggar(lariat)/zero(ryujin or shippuga) and it works very well…haggar is a no brainer for chris and depending on your playstyle with chris either zero assist is good…but i only use them to finish or extend combos…depending on the assist i choose

Chris (grenade) / Shuma (Mystic Ray) / Taskmaster (Horizontal)

Working pretty nicely. Shuma anti airs and taskmaster helps keep the chip damage up while Chris recovers from guns.

Running chris/ Shuma/ ???

need help deciding on a third. I’ve been using deadpool since he’s pretty good with shuma but I’m not sure if I should keep him in here. I think taskmaster might work as well, if not better, with shuma.

Also, I’m not sure what assist I should be using on chris. I’ve been using rock punch but have been considering gunfire.

I run Taskmaster (vert arrow)/Haggar (lariat)/ Chris (gunfire)

my chris is pretty weak right now. But I’m slowly removing bad habits (trying to use L)

my big thing now is his assist.
Taskmaster’s vert arrow helps control space
Haggar’s Lariat is obvious.
Chris’ gunfire not so much. Outside of free chip damage after a knockdown, doesn’t help haggar get in as it pushes back and is rather slow.

My goal is mostly defensive, Taskmaster on point being annoying with arrows, or getting in combos to tag in Haggar for air pipe relaunch to build more meter for Task’s otg air arrows.

Depending on the situation Chris hard tags in.

Would landmine assist be better here?

Or would Chris on point be better here to have Taskmaster help Haggar get in and control space with vert arrows, which also helps keep opponents grounded for Chris to hand out some chili fritos?

In general, Taskmaster is a better on point characters than Chris, and can deal with pretty much all of the cast on start.

Regarding your team, I say Vertical arrows is the best suitable assist, since it aids Chris in controlling space and helps Haggar to keep the opponent on the ground and reduce their air mobility. Of course Haggar will always have his lariat assist (unless some new stuff is discovered).

As for chris, gun fire may work in similar fashion to most beam attacks, where you are given a small gap where the opponent is stuck on blockstun for you to advance (so both Haggar and Taskmaster have small chance of closing in), and still does mad chip damage. Also, should you close the gap, you can call the gun fire assist in between a blockstring to counter advance guard and dash in once again.

Chris mine assist does not benefit rushdown characters much unless you snapback / waiting for the next character, and even then it is not that great of preasue tool. Its more setting traps (duh :P) for keepaway characters / team.

I see. I’ll try using gunfire during block strings

I’ve switched from Spider-Man to Doom. Spidey’s assists suck too much, although I love maximum spider. Doom is a great complement.

Chris: Grenade
Trish: Peekaboo
Doom: Rocks

Also, Doom is a really fun character, so I’m all the more motivated to get better with him. Also, I’ll be experimenting with him at the point as well, because he seems more versatile.

My team:

Chris - Gunfire
Taskmaster - H. Shot
Haggar - Lariat

I put Taskmaster in second slot because it gives me a safer DHC, and then when Chris goes down I will usually try to tag in Haggar and keep Task on anchor.

I’m really enjoying the chemistry between Task and Chris. Task’s H. Shot helps me in two primary ways:

1)Magnum, assist, magnum. Double the damage, and if you tack on another two magnums after, will yield 100k extra damage. This also provides chris with cover.

2)I found out this combo that I have been using:

c.M, H, f.H, A1, L.BP, c.M, H, f.H, S, MMHS, machinegun otg, H, S, MMHS

This combo carries them across the screen, and corners them from anywhere. Once in the corner you can add on whatever combo-ender you use. I use c.H, Lariat, M.Grenade, Grenade launcher, Flamethrower, Sweep Combo. 955 k, 0.5 net total bar.

Now the thing I like about this combo is that the starting ground string is my hit confirm. If the initial c.M is blocked. I stop at L.BP. After the L.BP connects Task’s arrows will push them away from you. At this point I throw out machine gun. The follow-up machine gun will stuff ALL supers without invincibility and jump attempts as it frame traps their activation frames.

I can see this string working with other projectile assists as well as long as there is no knockdown or it pushes them too far away. Experiment with your team!

In my opinion Chris and Shuma have very good synergy. I like to use Shuma mystic ray assist when they try to super jump over Chris’s zoning; they will block it but you have options afterwords: air throw attempt if they are really high, dash beneath them for a “cross-under attempt”, H Grenade into M Gunfire for chip, or just run up to them flamethrower for chip or throw attempt.

Grenade launcher DHCs into hyper mystic smash VERY well. I usually get over 700k for naked super into DHC. This is very nice for punishing assists like Tron or Haggar. This DHC combo does a TON of chip and requires precises advancing guard to reduce that chip.

Shuma is very much helped by Chris gunfire assist. Most obviously to help him get in. Then once you are in a nasty reset occurs. End your Shuma combos high in the air mystic smash, you land before they do, call gunfire assist run up to them and either low attack or instant air L mystic smash - both lead to big combo and then into the reset again. Obviously they can 50/50 block this but at least the assist keeps AG off the table and it is not hard to cross-up with air mystic smash, making this a good “ghetto vortex”.

Third character for this team is up to you. Task seems like it would be awesome since lvl 3 xfactor task scares me and horizontal arrows should help in chris combos after throws.

I personally use Arthur as the third because I like the slowness of his daggers, his level 3 factor is good and I think he helps Shuma slightly more than Chris. I consider this to be “team chip” and it is a lot of fun to play, though I do very well online it would obviously be hard to make this team work in a tournament setting where all you will see is Magneto Dante Wesker and Ammy.

My current team consists of:

Wesker (Jaguar Kick)/Dante (Jam Session)/Chris (Gun Fire). Thoughts?

Planning on changing to Chris/Dante/Shuma-Gorath once/if the PSN ever goes live again.

I pair my sub par Chris with Zero(Shipuuga) and Doom(rocks) both are able to let chris combo after gun otg, doom rocks makes flamethrower into sweep combo much easier also :).

Definitely. Plus Doom’s long-range L air photon, plus Chris’s gun fire assist, Doom lands, plasma beam works very, very well, too. I’m sure I’m driving opponents nuts, 'cuz I also use Trish’s peekaboo. It doesn’t hurt how great Chris is at build meter for Doom and Trish. Too bad I’m still borderline scrubby at this game. I just have a good team with some good strategy.

Team may not suit the purpose of zoning a lot with Chris but they do make some great synergy when it comes to combos

Running with

Chris - Gunfire
Spencer - Wire Grapple :uf:
Sent - Sentinel Force (Bomb) or Wesker - Samurai Edge (Lower Shot)

I’ve been messing around with :h: grenade toss to flame thrower. Once they are in stun I call Wesker assist and hit them with a :s: overhead which is fine and dandy, buuuuuuuuuuut without some sort of beam assist, this team feels very vulnerable.

I’d like to ditch Spencer, but his assist into a clean Grenade Launcher combo to Sweep Combo seems too nice to drop.

Should I ditch Wesker?

I’m running your team Funkque exactly, but i have mine instead of Gunfire on Chris. Both Chris and Spencer will benefit more from Sents assist over Weskers imo.

I’ve been messing with Chris/Hulk, Chris builds mad nice meter for Hulk (who lacks nice meter building ability) and you can combo into air series then otg -> relaunch into TAC into Hulk -> OTG super

And Ryu to fulfill my lack of Ken//spam lvl3 xf shinku^^

I feel like I’m still not maximizing potential with assists, but I just can’t bring myself to add in someone I can’t stand just for their assist

So far I’m very confortable with Chris and Dante. I use Dante to hit my opponent after I OTG them with :d::h: right after a BnB. The question is, since the character is “stuck” in Dante’s Jam Session, if I try to Sweep Combo them it’ll obviously miss. How can I keep the opponent from not “lifting up” because of Jam Session? Idk if I made my question clear…

Use flame thrower first. If you want them to drop slightly, just do the hyper a tiny bit after you end the flame thrower.

Yep, I have just found out that with the Flamethrower. I just need to practice to time the Sweep Combo correctly in order for it to hit.

^If you’re juggling with flamethrower well in range of Sweep, keep holding C with the flamethrower, then do the motion for SC and use your A and B buttons so you cancel instead of waiting for Chris to put his flamer away. If you’re not juggling well hyper after like Mordie said.

My current team is Chris (Grenade Toss)/Ryu (Tatsu)/Deadpool (Quickwork). I play keepaway with Chris’ free-jectiles whilst building meter for Ryu. Then I either safely hard tag, DHC or exchange combo Ryu in. Deadpool as anchor because i <3 him and his pretty basic. Chris and Deadpool don’t have the best synergy since both of their main OTG’s use ground bounce, and Chris’ Sweep Combo uses a ground bounce (though I might check out the juggle, I think you put a land mine down or something if you’ve used a ground bounce?).

Deadpool’s Quick Work was one of the few assists I found juggles OTG Grenade launcher after BNB so all hits connect. It’s also a pretty good ‘get-off-me’ assist when people are tri-jumping Chris since it’s pretty fast. Also Ryu air Tatsu/F+B and Deadpool’s quick work for unblockable setup off knockdown. If I open someone up in the corner, I can use Grenade Toss Assist to keep juggling with Ryu who was no OTG. As much as I love Deadpool, my team could be heaps better with someone like Dormammu who I reckon Dark Hole could juggle OTG Grenade Launcher. I think I’ll stick with Deadpool for now. Opinions?
