Jill fell out of a window. The Chris Redfield Teammates discussion thread

you’ll need a good two man team for Phoenix. Haggar provides good protection with lariat for Chris, who’s gunfire helps Haggar close in. Neither really needs meter and cover each others’ weaknesses.

they also build a lot of meter by dying so you don’t even have to be good with them.

i somehow feel like haggar and chris were meant to be together. the lariat assist protects him really well, chris’s otg abilities allows him to consistently combo after it hits, and the assist is fast enough to help chris combo after a throw. haggar has his weaknesses as na assist but chris can also protect him really well and can keep the opponent away long enough for haggar to heal. out of all the assists i’ve tried, haggar seems to be the one chris has to have. it improves him offensively and defensively so much more than it improves anyone else.

the third character can be practically anyone in the game as both chris’s and haggar’s assists work well with everyone.

Taskmaster’s Vertical shot assist. How good do you think it’ll be for Chris?

My team is Chris tron and phoenix. Tron’s assist is godlike, but i suck with her so much. Im thinking about switching in Sentinel or something. I won’t feel bad now that sentinel has the same health as spiderman…

I’d rather use the diagonal shot. Forces people to eat your chip. If they super jump over then dash under, then make them land on machine gun bullets. Also, you can shoot diagonal shot at incoming characters after snaps and KOs to put them in block stun and get your setups going (or try to rushdown/air throw).

Task and Chris go GREAT together.

La caja de jugo!!!

Thanks. I run Haggar on point. But this sounds delicious For forcing chip as I like my timeout wins just the same. Thanks.

Vertical shot brings the opponent straight down when it hits them, allowing chris to combo S into itself. It also covers an assload of space and interrupts the shit out of people in the air.

Its amazing, really.

Are there any other assist that work in a similar fashion? Not a big fan of taskmaster as a character.

I dont know any assist which hits from above as fast as Taskmaster, maybe Doom Hidden Missile?

Right now I’m running Chris/Magneto/Wesker. Chris is a dope battery character to build bars for Magnus, so I can combo into gravity squeeze. Magneto and Wesker are already a great team together (which I’m sure many people know about) so I don’t feel like I need to explain that at all.
I feel like chris does a decent job covering space horizontally so I went with magneto’s Hypergrav assist. Post combo if you put your opponent in the corner (easy with chris), call magneto and end your combo with chris’ low C bullet (to otg) the Hyper Grav actually forces your opponent to block or be grabbed into a second combo. They literally just flip out and then Hyper Grav is in their face. Kind of nice. If they block you still have enough time to either toss a mine or grenade, or pop out the flamethrower for chip if they can’t airdash. And if they pushblock that, then you’re back to zoning anyways. Win!
I use Wesker’s OTG bullet for Magneto mainly, though occaisionally I’ll call him for a low attack while I’m doing something else.

The point of chris on this team is to do as much damage and build as much bar as he can before I’m forced to use Magneto/Wesker or until he dies.

Right now I run

  1. Cap (shield slash)
  2. Chris (Boulder Punch)
  3. Zero (Shoryuken)

I start Cap on Point, use Zero to stop triangle jump ins and Chris to punish Wave Dashers. Once I land my first combo with cap its usually over for the guy in one bar. I string my favorite combo (the reason I use cap):
:d::l:,:d::m:,:d::h:,:qcf::h: into the jump follow off the return hit of the shield slash and string it out from there. I almost always end this into an air tag to Chris and play keep away with the life advantage.

I tried starting chris but the truth is, I much prefer to air tag him in after a punish from Cap, rather than trying to play keep away till the opponent makes a mistake. I figure he’s more likely to screw up if hes at the life disadvantage. I suppose I could start Zero and rush down but I just prefer Cap. Hes got a good mix of keep away and punish, though his rushdown game is lacking against players who know how to deal with cartwheel. But mostly I put him on point because his Combos are so damned pretty. Nothing puts a player on tilt faster than a full chained Cap combo. (Shield slash, Shield Slash, Shield Slash)

I run that for fun more than victory and I almost always anchor zero, because with a few bars in reserve he can desimate teams when X-Factored. Just Chain Shadow Mode and make em cry.

If I was building a team for competition I would probably drop Cap for Sentinel or Akuma. Both have amazing assists and Akuma makes hyper bars so damned dangerous. And well Big Papa Pump is always a clutch anchor, even with the life nerf.

My team:
Chris (gun fire)
Trish (hopscotch)
Deadpool (trigger happy)

Trigger happy allows chris to have some sort of anti-air. Also can be used for some of his combos. Hopscotch can be used to give the opponent another reason not to approach and also if i’m lucky, i could use the magnum or boulder punches to knock them in to it. Having chris on gun fire also allow both of my other characters to have a stronger long range game or used for pressure.

What do you think?

My team, for now:

Chris (gun fire)
Spider Man (Spider Sting or web ball, depending on the match up)
Trish (hopscotch or low voltage, depending on the matchup)

As a side note, you can link maximum spider into grenade launcher. The first hit misses but the vertical hit lands as the opponent falls. It looks cool! Also, I don’t know that I’d recommend Spidey unless you really like him, like me. His assists are inferior to a lot of others. He’s fun as hell, though. Much improved from MvC2.

This looks solid, though I don’t know Trish too well, so my only possible concern might be that she can’t use all that meter too effectively, mostly I see her as a battery. Tron or Hulk would really like the meter Chris builds when on point and serve a similar purpose as assists. Deadpool at anchor is ridiculous, and even with easy DHC trick setups I’m surprised more people don’t run him last. Great zoning and chipping game, teleports for clutch moments, all kinds of XFactorL3 craziness with his slide loops (which go off Bola loops, which in turn can be comboed off an OTG Katanarama->Chimichangas), and good normals with a funky jump for mixups when in close.

My team:

She-hulk AA, but I’m thinking of switching to her slide.
Chris Gunfire
Spencer slant shot

All characters have above average life I believe, each character can deal lots of damage in a lot of situations, and their assists complement each other.

I mean, this is a chris thread so I won’t go into my other characters tactics but here’s my plan for him on this team.

  1. Use his assist to help she-hulk approach.
  2. Provide cross ups for Spencer as assist to cover approaches.
  3. She-hulk builds meter for chris, so, that when he comes in he can deal 100% combos with two super meters (against a lot of characters this is true, but not all of them).
  4. Camp out to recover health for other characters.
  5. Take advantage of spencer assist to extend combos and combo off of grab with 99% consistency lol.
  6. Use she-hulk for anti-air
  7. Chris is for the DHC combo of she-hulk > chris > spencer, which kills most characters and I’m pretty sure kills all characters at level one x factor.

Some possible weaknesses:

  1. Spencer to Chris DHCs are weak and Chris to She-hulk DHCs are weak.
  2. She-hulk’s AA assist to help chris might be weakening spencer. That’s why I’m thinking of changing to ground. As I get better with chris I don’t need as much of a get off me assist. I just go for air grabs because mine usually lead to more damage.

Wow, no love for Ryu anti-air assist /w Chris on point~

his shoryuken as an assist is not invincible and gets stuffed by a lot of moves.

My team is now
Chris/Hulk/Taskmaster

I am pretty horrid with Taskmaster. But Chris and Hulk, his AA is SO Good, Hulk covers Chris, Chris covers Hulk with gunfire, and Taskmaster for H. shot if Chris is down. Grab into d+h + Hulk’s assist, they recover in the air > go for reset, 2 throws in a row. Unless if im in the corner, I’ll take the combo

BTW Ryu’s Shoryuken in the Chris throw gives you a full combo by the way. It doesn’t scale the damage

i think i’ve found my team. it’s akuma tatsu assist 2nd and haggar lariat assist 3rd.

chris deals a lot of damage but has a hard time getting a hit against good players. there are 4 reliable situations where chris can land a combo, off of a ground normal, off of any throw, off of a standing magnum, and off of a defensive assist.

not the best team to thc with but with this team i’ve discovered dual assist combos off of a throw for over 800k in damage, off of a ground normal for over a million in damage, off of a defensive lariat assist hit for over 800k in damage, and off of a standing magnum for over 900k in damage. with that much damage i can also save my xfactor for the other characters.

lariat is one of the best defensive assists in the game and chris will help akuma build a lot of meter making him even more dangerous. both assists are also good counter moves.
