Chris on point to build meter w/ Dante (Jam Session) + Sent (Low Drones) has been amazing for me so far. The simple air magnum relaunch bnb’s ending in any sort of air gunfire or d.C otg mixups are great. With Dantes’s Jam Session covering vertical angles and Chris throwing grenades and spamming j.B or j.A Gunfire you get a sweet zoning plan vs. Sentinels or Tri-Jump characters as well. Very easy to take people to the corner, very easy to nab quick wins with stupid DHC’s after that.
I was just playing around with Chris a little bit today. I really like him and I think that if you give him two great assists he is pretty much unreachable. I was thinking Ironman’s Unibeam when full screen and Storm’s Whirlwind to push the opponent back out when he gets close. Just screwing around with this online, I was pissing some ppl off.
I think my secondary team will be Chris / Iron Man / Storm. Great synergy between the three.
I just started messing with Chris and as was said previously, he doesn’t really have an anti air option. So he will need an assist for that. This is why I don’t think Sentinel is the best assists for Chris. Good, but it seems to do something that Chris already does himself. Not only that, Chris does it better. Could just end up being overkill. Drones controls space in front of Chris. But Chris controls that space already on his own. They can just jump over everything and if Sentinel is already out, you can’t call another assist to cover the jump in. Also, if the opponent has a smaller character and is full screen, drones will just whiff. I don’t care if I use Sentinel or not, but if I use him, its gonna make sense. I’m not going to use him just because he’s Sentinel. This is theory fighting of course, but I’m trying out Chris (Gun Fire), Dante (Jam Session), Doom (Hidden Missiles). Chris on point for most matches, but if there is a Phoenix or Chun on the other team, I might put Dante in to snap in one of those and get them outta there asap. Chris’ Gun Fire and Doom’s Hidden Missiles should be great offensive assists for Dante. For everyone else though, I’d put Chris on point. Chris can cover the space in front of him, Dante’s Jam Session for anti air, and Doom’s missiles for lock down (and anti air at times) even if the opponent is small, full screen and ducking. Jam Session also helps in Chris’ otg combos and the timing easy. Just press down, c and the Dante assist all at the same time. I’m no expert and I’ll be messing with other combinations as well, but in theory, this team should work well.
I’m using X-23 with Chris and Haggar.
I’m not an expert by any means but I’ve been doing ok online with them. I use X-23’s cresent slice and Haggar’s larriet.
What assist do you guys use for Chris? I’m using the gun fire one just now.
Ive been using Chris on point with Tron w/ gustaff fire assist as an anti-air/general spam/pressure tool. Works pretty well. Gustaff fire assist seems to have some decent startup invincibility so it beats a lot of stuff if timed well. Still trying to decide on a third teammate, hopefully someone with better hyper combos than those two lol.
Ive mainly been trying to come up with some sort of game plan that involves copious amounts of flamethrower, for maximum trolling purposes.
I have been thinking bout running some tron bonne. It seems to work as a decent AA, its no jam session but it seems purty good. Plus, and Im theory fighting here, but the assists invincibility should be able to protect chris from other projectile spammers. If anyone could test that out for me it’ll be greatly appreciated.
Chris seems to be able to get around all projectiles in some way or another. Whether its out prioritizing them wit the Magnum or going prone to go under them, Chris seems to get around them all. I haven’t tested against everyone, but the few I have, there has always seem to be a way round projectiles.
Also, I’ve been told that Doom’s Hidden Missiles plus Chris’ flamethrower is like 30% chip damage if blocked. This is why I’m testing him out in my team.
chris can’t beat sentinel drone assist… the durability on those drones beats all of his stuff… so sad
magnum can come out and blast 2 drones and hit sent before the 3rd comes.
The projectile i have the most trouble against is Mag’s Disruptor. I know magnum has more priority but disruptor comes out so fast that it hits me before i can even fire the shot. Mag’s is like my Chris’ Kyptonite and i have no idea how to beat him especially when he has the drone assist with him
I’m pretty sure you have time to squeeze in a magnum in between two EMDs if you’re quick enough, or you can super jump magnum.
Your probably waiting too long or something, chris’s magnum destroys sents drones. Especially since they are so slow you can easily magnum that shit on reaction. The only issue sent gives me from long range is his spit, so I just super jump magnum/machine gun that shit a couple times to teach him not to try to long range me.
What I do is I use akuma’s tatsu assist to cover chris, it has priority points so EM disruptor won’t go through it, and while magnus is trying to disruptor through akuma, I feed him a delicious magnum shot. Since mags has such low health, you do this to him once or twice and I guarantee he won’t ever consider disruptoring from full screen again. I think sents drones might serve the same purpose for you but im not sure since i don’t use sent, just use an assist with some projectile priority to cover the slow start up of chris’s guns. On the flip side you could try jumping and firing, that works as well, and you could call out sents drones to make sure he doesn’t dash in. Finally I think we need to start using chris’s jump down :h: more often because it comes out very quick and has decent range. I don’t use it either but I think it can help him in the projectile wars.
Flamethrower is amazing for stopping a lot of air approaches. You can super cancel it into Sweep Combo on hit for some fun damage.
Though yeah things that are from directly above are annoying to deal with. But for the most part if you need to anti-air something, flamethrower is your best shot when Chris is on point.
I was messing with Hulks AA assist today and its pretty good at getting what gustaff fire and flamethrower cant. Only problem is not being predictable and spamming it because hulk is vulnerable after…
I’ve been running Wesk/Chris/Tron, and granted I play at a fairly low level but its working well and I can see some potential. Wesk and Chris go nicely for using Gunfire assist + Phantom move cross-ups and Tron’s gustaff fire really helps Chris deal with pressure heavy characters like Ammy and Zero. Hypers are a little weak, but if Tron lands a Gustaff hit right up close to Chris you can do a basic combo into a free Sweep Hyper, decent damage for nothing. Both Chris and Tron can chip chip chip. If the fight is nearing the end and the opponent has blown his x-factor, you can force him to start taking some wild chances.
I think Doom or Dorm might be better choices in the end, but I’m enjoying how those three are shaking out.
If that magneto has no LvL3 I usually just go prone and fire, works fairly well. Also if he decides to rush because I’m proning I can still call Haggar or Tron assist to cover me.
I want to base a team revolving around Chris, but not sure what would be the best of him. I’m thinking maybe about Chris and Tron. Not sure about the 3rd.
Well the way I built my team was I picked chris and a couple other people and I played against competent opponents, then I saw the strategies that gave me issues and searched for assists that dealt with said strategies for me. So just go play a couple games with chris/tron/some other character your interested in, and see how that works out for you and then you can continue building from there. I do think tron will help chris out, she works as both a get of me assist and a decent AA, so why not pick a meter dump for chris.
Chris + Dormammu seems pretty good. Chris does a good job as a battery and Dorm loves his meter, and his Purification assist helps keep people off of Chris.
Hey guys. I guess i could say chris is my main heh so the teams i usually put him in are my standard Chris, Dante with jam session, and Trish with peekaboo up. It seems people like to get nasty jump in and i can guard push people into Trish’s peekaboo for chip or they get caught up in it for an easy air combo. Dante’s Jam session is an all purpose move and is great for stopping jumpers and killing forward momentum.
Other teams are Chris, Iron man with his beam, and Trish. Use Hulk and Ryu. Try’s srk has invincibility frames at the start up and hulks anti air move is nice for chris and keeps him safe from jump in.
