Vergil’s Rapid Slash puts the opponent at full screen, hit or block, so it’s helpful in that regard, but he isn’t safe after he attacks, so you’ll have to shoot a magnum or sub-machine gun towards the end. That’s all I can really think of. His Maximum Vergil does a hard knockdown which can DHC into Satellite Laser, although that’s not the most practical thing in the world.
Chris/hagger is a really good combo. Hagger protects that blindspot and is pretty easy to combo off of. I’ll make a video of it later when I get home.
Posted this in the Iron Man forums but I’d like your feedback as well.
Alright guys, I have a hypothetical team for you.
When Vanilla MvC3 Capcom came out, I wanted to use Chris/Deadpool/Iron Man, simply because they were my three favorite characters. I really didn’t know shit about team synergy and never really learned the game for whatever reason. I don’t know, maybe I was more invested in in Street Fighter at the time. Anyway I didn’t play Vanilla at all aside for some scrubby casuals, and started learning with Ultimate.
But here is the thing, tonight I found videos of an Iron Man winning with a very simple zoning strategy: he would shoot a Unibeam, and if it hit, cancel it into Iron Avenger, land, then dash up and do L Smart Bombs into a full combo (there was no HSD at this point because it was only a few hits off unibeam).
So I was wondering if that initial team would actually work in this game, the idea would be: Chris(unsure of Assist, Machine Gun or Grenade probably)/Deadpool(Quick Work) and Iron Man (Repulsar Blast).
Chris and Deadpool zone, do chip damage, and build a ton of damage. They both have solid hit confirms, and Repulsar would protect them as an anti air.
The team would be pure zoning, Chris and Deadpool would build up a ton of meter for Tony, the anchor, who could then do shitloads of damage off the Unibeam xx Iron Avenger, L Smart Bombs, combo. Honestly, I like IM better in this game because he is more zoning and less rushdown.
Let me know what you guys think of this team…its all theory right now, but I got really excited when I thought of it and will probably start messing with it tomorrow. If it doesn’t work, I’ll probably go back to Deadpool/Iron Man/Sentinel or Nemesis/Deadpool/Iron Man. I just want Deadpool and Iron Man on the same team since I’ve invested the most time with them, and they are the two characters in this game I like the best.
If you wanted to run a team with deadpool and iron man I’d do the deadpool/iron man/sentinel set up. Deadpool is actually really bad at gaining meter it’s maddening sometimes. I do think that deadpool quick work assist could do wonders for him but I’ll have to test it out later. if you’re going zoning I’d definately go repulsar if you are facing extreme rushdown. Unibeam is better for lockdown plus it’s great for mixups.
Speaking from experience chris and deadpool are a pretty good pair however is you have to put one on point you put chris because chris’s sub gun assist isn’t all that helpful for pool as he needs more of a beam for mixups, so I would use beam if you’re using chris.
Just my two cents.
Hello Guys,
I’m playing with Chris (Grenade Toss), Jill (Somersault) and Trish (Low Voltage).
I want to know, this team has good synergy?
Peekaboo looks good to cover chris, but low voltage seems best to cover Jill
For CrossOver Combination
seems that the Maximum Voltage is better than round in damage Harvest and mix up
I’m very confused by these choices someone give me a light please!
What do you guys think about Chris(Gun)/RR(Log)/Strider(Vajra)?
I’d pick peekaboo to cover Chris any day, especially if you’re going against anyone with a teleport.
That’s one good low health assist too many. I think you need to swap one of those guys out and I would have to say Rocket, unfortunately.
Chris/task/doom?
Can I get an opinion on Iron Fist (Rising Fang)/ Chris Redfield (Gun Fire)/ Hulk (Gamma Charge)? Do you think it works?
I’m also contemplating switching Iron Fist with Taskmaster and switching his position with Chris’
I’ve cover you both since you have similar team. Dede I’d say do the Taskmaster team since Chris doesn’t have much to offer over having him second than first.
So that leaves you guys with:
Chris/Task/Hulk
Chris/Task/Doom
Both good teams to me.
I’ve read Vajra is a good assist for Chris, so this is my team:
Chris (Gunfire)/Dante(Jam Session)/Strider Hiryu (Vajra).
A team thought for Chris which also sports a great anchor and Dante. It also has my two favorite characters in the game. Good/bad?
These very well may be the best two assits for Chris. Good.
I keep this team in my back pocket. It’s really solid, but Vajra has it’s limits. Certain characters with teleports or zip lines can avoid it easily, so it won’t solve all your problems, but it’s still really solid. I’d recommend it.
Man the Chris forums sure are dead. Anyway, I’ve concluded that chris, strider, sent is probably the best chris team. You get two really strong assists. The hard knockdown from vajra leads to decent damage from a distance, or a near kill combo if they are hit close to you. My favorite thing about this team however, is the fact that any touch from Chris anywhere on the screen leads to a ToD if you have one meter starting (even a grab/airgrab!). The new(ish) flamethrower buff means you can loop 2 grenade supers for over a million damage with drones and vajra! Doing the combo from a grab nets you around 940k.
I see. So Strider is worthwhile to learn after all. I’ll start to practice with him then.
Magneto (E-M Disruptor/Forcefield), Chris (Combo Punch), Sentinel (Drones)
The Only team in UMVC3 I feel the most comfortable with. With Mags I can mix-up and reset the opponent until their dead; Magneto can still do this despite his nerfs and tweaks. With Chris, all I want to do is push my enemies [or lead them] into countless grenade traps so that I can setup more traps or chip out a good portion of their health on defense or go in for the combo if they hit the grenade. Drones and E-M Disruptor do a good job of buying Chris enough time to setup additional grenades repectively. I’ll almost always leave Sentinel as the anchor most of the time.
I know that some one had mentioned something about teleporters and Chris. Just a heads up, not all teleporters are created equal you know. Dante is easy to predict if you pay attention to what he is doing. Strange, Phoenix, and Strider must be approached with caution due to how good they are but at the same time how weak they are being glass cannon type of characters and all. Wesker is trouble for the most part. But Vergil leaves me with my head in a state of cluelessness.
i’ve settled on a team of haggar lariat, chris machinegun, and doom hidden missiles in that order.
i think chris has to go second in ultimate just because of his vulnerability to immediate rushdown at the start of a match if placed first. against characters that can close in before the match even starts like wolverine there is literally nothing chris can do. and he just isn’t a good anchor without assists to place last.
i think haggar is now one of the best point characters in this game with the right assists. he isn’t free to the opening rush down and will almost always survive that first combo allowing chris to come in later and still have access to lariat.
haggar’s lariat is still one of the best assists fir chris in many ways. just having it available whether it gets used or not helps prevent rushdown and it is still one of the best combo extenders for chris.
dooms hidden missiles go great with chris zoning ability since it controls the screen for so long and cover areas chris cannot himself.
both assists allow chris time and space to establish his grenades and/or landmines!
Was messing around doing Random All’s with some friends and I got the following team:
Chris (Gun) / MODOK (Bomb) / Shuma (Ray)
At first I thought, dear god, but holy cow, the zoning capabilities and mix up opportunities you are offered depending on the situation are absurd. I didn’t know any combos so wasn’t winning much but the potential started coming out after a little bit of time in training mode with them. Chris’s zoning backed by Shuma and MODOK is crazy. Unless you have a teleport or flight, you can’t get in without eating ridiculous chip and Chris’s air throw is the perfect punishment tool for bad teleports. Plus, Shuma’s beam gets people out of the air where you can have a mine field waiting for them. For Vultures and Wolvie, switch to MODOK on point and he pretty much can completely beat all of them with flying beams since most vultures can only shoot downwards. Also, MODOK is the perfect counter to Wolvie since you fly away at the beginning of the match blow up any of his BFFs with Shuma Beam. Chris’s Grenade basically ends it as well but takes time to get down. Switching MODOK to Barrier if you want to rush down makes Shuma actually pretty scary since you can make any move safe for Shuma opening up command throws and the lock down provided by Chris’s gun isn’t too bad.
Was wondering what you guys/gals thought? I might invest the time to learn this team just because it is so ridiculous and fun at the same time.
not so sure about that shuma I’m not a fan of him in this game as I was in mvc2 (although his eye beam assist is pretty good) but MODOK I can respect anyone trying that character. I myself have tried MODOK out and in the future plan on having a team with him. The only thing about that character is the fact he is much different from almost every character in the game and if you wanna be good with him you really need to grind it out. It’s just depressing when I was trying to learn him and I just get pounded on by all the weskers with ease. Just watchin myself get beat on with no effort at all by my opponent can be very frustrating, but if you are strong enough to get through it and actually get good with him more power to you.
My current team is Chris(gun), Dorm(purification), Doom(missles). A total zoning lockdown and chip team. People get very frustrated vs me. The amount of rage quits and messages I get is obsurd. My 2nd team is Chris(gun), Doom(missles). Strider(vajra). With that team I will still zone with chris but I have a pretty sweet TAC combo with doom which people been seeing lately most notiblly first introduced by marlinpie but has been expanding to more dooms as of late and the vajra assist gives me the comfort to rush in with doom rather than stay full screen zoning since one hit from that assist equals a free combo for doom.
those are my teams right now, I’m goin to final round, hopefully I can do well, would love to make it out of pools but from word around there is gonna be almost every top known marvel player there even many west coast players. who knows though I’ll try my best.
Chris/Dormammu/Doom has always been a team I’ve wanted to experiment with. I just know that Dormammu with Hidden Missiles would be no joke, I just haven’t gotten around to messing with them yet. I’m also thinking of Chris/Doom/Sentinel. I think Chris with Hidden Missiles and Drones could be scary. Probably won’t be playing Marvel for a little while, but when I get back to it, training mode will be my home.
