As a person who has a imo a good amount of experience with all those characters, here’s my two sents. Your team can work but there are few problems as well as perks.
Repulsar blast is an awesome anti-air. It however has to be called pre-emptively. But it stops even the mightiest and most irriating of dive kicks with correct timing. Its got startup. But as soon as they jump, you gotta call. Get the timing down and it can make it hard for people to get in on you. Also you can’t call it under frequent pressure.
Next. Chris has one problem. He can do almost nothing against an air based character. However, you have deadpool on your team. His happy trigger finger assist actually has some use here because of it’s angle so I would give that a try against super jump has opponents. You have to get used to the angle though.
I would set Chris’s assist to the machine gun. Landmine is a pretty ass assist in most case. His machine gun helps with zoning as it has good durability. Helps both characters.
Iron Man isn’t the best anchor. Chris or deadpool are better choices in my opinion.
I completely forgot about this post until I was notified. I realized this team wouldn’t worked quite awhile ago for many of the reasons you stated. The team I’m using is Iron Man/Deadpool/Sentinel. No Chris. So yeah you guys can disregard this post from now on, I realize that team wouldn’t work.
I am currently running Chris/Spencer/Taskmaster. I am having a VERY hard time with Spencer. He isn’t clicking with me. So, I was thinking about using Strider (Vajira), Shuma Gorath (Mystic Beam) or something else. Chris has Gun Fire and Taskmaster has Vertical Arrows for assist.
I find Magneto’s quick disruptah to really help me with Chris.
Stick with Task horizontal arrows. Spencer isn’t good for DHC in case Chris needs a break. Put Tasky second or have Spencer on point. That will help ya with Spencer.
I decided to stick with Chris/Iron Fist/Hulk. My problem now is deciding on a Hulk assist. I use Gamma Wave for combos, but they only work in the corner (to my knowledge). Are there any Chris/Hulk players out there that know how Chris can benefit from any of the Hulkster’s assists?
Maybe it’s me, but I’m LOVING Chris with Vergil’s Rapid Slash assist, as it’s great for dragging your opponent away from you, and you get to start up your guns and grenades. Also, I’ve decided to stick with Akuma’s Tatsu assist, I feel it’s quite useful for Chris.
Yeah, but Vajra still helps Chris cover some of that ambiguous space he can’t control. He can self OTG now, so he can take advantage of the (Hard?) Knockdown.
On an unrelated note, I love them Magnum into itself combos.
Frank with the shopping cart is my “Get the hell off of me.” assist. The startup of this assist forces those rushdowns to back off while I toss grenades.
Spencer with the Slant Grapple is my combo extender. With the right b&b I can do 960k easily though at the cost of two bars.
I actually called it that name, too, but then I realized none of them had any natural superpowers so I called them Team Everyman. And as for my Chris assist I chose his Boulder Punch to get Frank a 2nd snapshot in one combo.
The main problem is that Chris won’t have any “awesome neutral game spammable assist” like drones, disruptor, hidden missles, log trap, or anything of the sort.
I think the point of this team is to try to do as much damage and build as much meter as possible before he dies and vergil comes to play. You can also tag out Chris before he dies to utilize his machine gun assist which I think will go well with your team comp
I really like Chris/Storm (Whirlwind)/??? a lot right now. I am using Trish(Peekaboo) in the last slot currently, but I am experimenting with other options.
Whirlwind is an amazing assist for pushing back into fire grenades, opening space for Chris to move forward, and Storm can deal with people who try to fly/hover in the top corner.
Additionally you can do a THC with Chris/Storm off of nearly anything that will do devastating damage and melt any assist who gets caught in a fire grenade or magnumed. Chris gets full damage from his nades during hailstorm, and you can even do it in the corner into flamethrower for more.
The synergy is honestly astounding. I think Chris just has a thing for partnering with the African ladies.
Storm comes out and can use push and pull with a number of Chris assists for gimmicks. Pulling into land mines (or peekaboos for me), pushing and using gun fire. She can jump and do low air whirlwinds while Chris peppers ground level with gun fire. Use different jump/air dash/flight gimmicks to call Chris while she’s off screen, and then swoop in to pick up the confirm.
And finally Trish offers Peekaboo, which is another long term obstacle that you can pushblock or whirlwind enemies back into when giving ground, and if you end up THCing with her you get round harvest. Grenade/Hailstorm/Round harvest is pretty beastly on a THC as it basically hits anywhere on screen then locks down/does incredible chip damage.
Strongly recommend giving Storm a try with point Chris.
So, I need a character to cover Chris’s back against people who like to teleport behind me. Some can duck the lariet so that’s a no go. Who cover’s directly behind chris well because I find myself unable to fight vergils because if I get too gun happy I get stabbed in the back.
Hidden Missiles works in the sense that if they teleport behind you when Doom comes out, they’ll get hit by the missiles, or if they teleport while the missiles are in the air, they’ll get hit in the middle of their combo, so Missiles gives you a lot of gun time without worrying about getting stabbed in the back. Drones kind of works in the regard as well, but only for people teleporting behind you on the ground, not one like Dante’s, and even then it isn’t 100% reliable.
