Motherfucking rising fang. I went into online player matches today with the sole purpose of stepping up my keepaway game. Rising fang covers that exact space that chris doesn’t. Granted, we’re not talking about particularly fierce competition, but when I was on my game, I was untouchable. Every time they superjump to get out of rising fang just fire grenade or wavedash out of there or bust out the flamethrower depending on the matchup.
Vajra has the benefit of hitting anywhere, but if the opponent is moving it can easily just miss and rising fang pushed the opponent clear across the screen even if blocked. Try to stick to mid-screen (where Chris is at his best anyway), and you’re good to go.
Does anyone have any advice for a team I’m working on?
Chris(gunshot) / Capt. America (shield slash) / Doom (hidden missiles).
I’m having a lot of trouble against teleports. Besides that, I just have to work on my overall game with those guys. I played Doom in Vanilla, so I’m already used to him, but I barely played Chris and I didn’t play C. America at all in Vanilla. But that’s just something I can work on myself.
Anyway, would you recommend that I replace someone (except Chris) on my team for another character? At this point, the Captain doesn’t really contribute to the team that well, but that just may be because I have him as a secondary (when I should put him on point). I guess I’m sort of rambling at this point.
Edit: On second thought, it may be a better idea to have Captain America on point with Chris in the middle.
I’m totally new to Marvel but I’m using Chris/Trish/Ryu, Trish with the peekaboo for anti air and Ryu for tatsu to help get in when needed. It’s mostly a zoning team. Also I want to know if theres a better anchor for my team if anybody knows?
NICE! this team has everything for these characters…vajra for frank and chris’s bad matchups, machinegun assist for roll/teleport crossups, shopping cart because its shopping cart, and BLONDE HAIR. somebody break out the surf boards oh, and blue and yellow swag for those of you who enjoy color coordinated beatdowns.
Chris has taken the role of Primary Assist and Anchor on my team, in Vanillia he was always my Point character but not this time around.
I run Rocket Raccoon(Y)/Frank West(A)/Chris(B)
The team pretty much works together well in whatever order, but its usually best when its put this way. RR uses Chris’ gunfire assist to back up his teleports, and when he gets to 2 meters he can do Rock ‘n’ Roll into a whiffed Survival Techniques to snapshot for instant level 4 frank. When Frank is on point and RR is either swapped out or dead, Chris’ Gunfire helps him level up to at least 3 faster, and RR’s pendulum can be used in conjunction with Snapshot to continue the combo. Frank and RR can also rotate supers, Survival Techniques into Mad Hopper, Hard Tag, snapshot, repeat.
Chris is pretty much saved for last because he’s my personal best character, hes got an assist that helps both Frank and RR, he can combo on his own now, and he chips like a madman in Level 3 X-Factor
Chris has several bad matchup that can exploit his weaknesses. While he can deal absurd chip and great damage with XF3 when you consider that many will try to have people like Wesker on Anchor you gotta be careful.
I’d say in this team Ammy or a leveled up Frank would be best as Anchor. But by all means. If the opposing team anchor is suitable for Chris, he can definitely do it.
So, after finally finding a suitable anchor in Dormammu, I’ve been looking for a solid second for my team. Went with Frank for a bit when UMvC3 came out cause I love his character, and I mained him in TvC. But…I dunno, he doesn’t feel right for my team. Anyways, I’m trying out Trish right now, and I was wondering if she sounds like she’d fit on either a Chris(point) or She-Hulk(point) team. Basically, just cruising around for opinions on how it sounds.
With Chris being able to cancel flamethrower with launcher who thinks that he’ll be a good character to get combos for Frank?
Just do a basic BnB combo, then do jumping Magnum H for ground bounce into Flamethrower, cancel it into S and immediately TAC into Frank for at least Level 3. And if you don’t feel like doing TAC you can always do Sweep combo and DHC into tools of survival just as the opponent falls during the missed ground bounce, they’ll stay on the ground long enough that you can recover from the whiffed super into a camera shot.
A bit of synergy between Chris and Taskmaster that I’m not sure if anyone’s mentioned: If you’re ending a combo with knife super in the corner, you can DHC into Taskmaster’s up arrows and get another arrow super afterwards, either a TK diagonal super or dash up TK vertical super. May be a good choice if your third character doesn’t have very strong DHC options like Wesker (or if your third character is dead). Just a thing I wanted to add considering how much people seem to love the Chris/Task combo.
