I’m kind of skeptic of using Strider last, but Level 3 X-Factor Ouruboros is pretty nasty. Anyway, I strongly suggest you use a character who can OTG by themselves and can combo after, like Dante, Doctor Doom, and Wesker, assuming that you’ll be using Strider’s Gamma Assist ‘Vajra’, which causes a hard knockdown on jumping opponents. Vajra into OTG combo was really successful at last nights’s UMvC3 tourney that Level Up streamed, and Dante, Doctor Doom, and Wesker are all powerful characters. Out of the three, Dante interests me the most, but I have trouble pulling off his combos online. Doctor Doom and Wesker’s combos are a bit easier, but its ultimately up to you.

I am using a team right now of Captain America (a,shield slash) / Iron Fist (y,flying kick assist) / and Chris Redfield (b,gunshot) and I love it! I still have a ton to work out and discover, but these characters are all super fun to play, have high damage output, and can DHC back and forth pretty well. Chris’s gunshot assist seems to work very well for both Captain and Iron Fist, I like to think of it as dooms beam assist that keeps people grounded. For captain, the assist comes out very fast, so if I am at the right range and do a cartwheel, it can be very difficult to block. It also helps to play a zoning game with shield slash and gunshot assist. It works great for Iron Fist as a tool to wave dash behind, or flying kick behind to close the distance. It also keeps opponents grounded which is extremely important for iron fist. When I finally get in someone’s face with iron fist, I will do a M, H, forward H. If it connects, I continue into rekkas. If it doesn’t, the forward H can be jump cancelled. So I jump, call out Chris gunshot assist, and then can go for a crossup j.H, an empty jump into c.H, or a throw attempt. When I have captain on point, I can just throw out iron fists assist, and if I see that it hits it’s pretty much a free hyper charging star. For example of damage output, captains BnB combo ending with hyper charging star, dhc into iron fists vertical dragon hyper does around 1 million damage. Both of Iron Fist’s hypers can be cancelled into Chris’s sweep hyper with proper juggling now. Chris as anchor isn’t ideal, but he can do a lot of chip damage in XF, and you can definitely do worse. And as I said, all of these characters are just fun to play as well that have very unique combos! If only I could figure out my colors! Damn Iron Fist costumes… What do you think?

Has anyone else been running Chris with Dormammu second? I’ve been using this team and I love it. Sweep Combo > Stalking Flare gives Dorm 3 free charges, plus his purification assist is awesome for controlling air space for Chris. As for anchor, I haven’t found a solid choice yet, but I’m sure there are multiple people that can fill that role. Maybe Strider?

to get full juggle from grenade super into flame thrower into sweep combo from RR pendulum assist i usually do c.M,H,f.H,S sj.M,H,S land j.M gunfire,S sj. M,M,H,S land call pendulum, j. magnum, throw medium grenade, grenade super, forward dash flame thrower, sweep combo.

Yeah, I’ve been running that duo too, and it is pretty sweet. Chris’s BnB into Stalking Flare also gets me around a million damage. I should probably start using those charges though. I run Sentinel as anchor because his drones are great for Chris’s zoning and it really helps against in coming characters, and it’s also good for Dormammu’s teleport mix-ups. They travel real slow so you can teleport right when it’s about to hit them. Only problem is that Sentinel is pretty free to some characters.

I never considered using Sentinel. It just too good to be fair XD. After hitting the lab I decided that I love Strider enough to put him on my team.Only problem is that I lose a good lockdown assist. So, I’ve been looking at running Team BFF: Chris (Gun Fire)/ Strider (Vajra)/ Doom (Plasma Beam) today. I just can’t seem to decide. On one hand the chris to dorm combo is godlike, on the other hand Chris can’t get in if I put Strider on anchor.

There are still people who consider Sentinel unfair? Holy shit.

Sentinel’s pretty much become my go-to anchor character at this point. His drones are just too solid, so honestly, if I was to play Strider, it’d be Chris/Strider/Sentinel, haha. Drones might be one of the best lockdown assists in the game, since it kind of forces you to block until they’re all gone, but if you don’t like the character, then you shouldn’t play him. Just don’t rule him out too soon. I hope you find a team that fits your playstyle though, I’m going through a bit of a character crisis myself.

I meant the assist, I know the big guy has been fair since the patch in vanilla XD. I guess I shouldn’t rule him out until I try him. I’ll try him out tomorrow. Sorry about the misunderstanding. =/

I want to test that team of Chris/Dormammu/Strider. I’ve been running Wesker/Dormammu/Doom, but I mess up Doom combos online (mostly there for assist) and although Wesker is easy to use, I keep freaking treat him like he’s a zoner and I’m not used to rushing down characters myself a lot.

I know I’m not the only guy here who pair Chris with the Mayor, Here’s what I got for Chris’ assists helping Haggar on point for OTG followups. Y’all already know I suck so do feel free to test and confirm.

Assist A Boulder Punch (Chris swings twice this is his H version of Boulder Punch)

After throw:

works both in and out of corner. requires tight timing for pipe to hit. Pipe of course will ground bounce, dash in and S

If not Chris’ second punch will send them flying. opponent is knocked down about two dashes away. I don’t know if Haggar can wave dash over.


**After air throw: **
Call assist first upon landing. very very easy in the corner. I reccomend a dash as you call the assist when not in corner, then dash again to get the M S jump m h air pipe S OTG for 371,100 damage.


After sky high back drop:

453,900 damage 454,400 in the corner. target gets hit by OTG, assist hit 1, Pipe, Assist hit 2 if you do it fast.

Delay your pipe hit in the corner, and you will get a ground bounce, dash in S etc, you’ll break 500k easy. timing is strict.

outside of corner assist hit 2 will send them flying. so just hit the pipe cancel and start dashing over.

**After pile driver: same as sky high back drop. **

after air combo ending in qcf+S: same as above. 531,900 damage with air pipe m s m h qcf+S OTG, assist, pipe assist hit 2

after air combo ending in S: air pipe, m s jump m h air pipe S call assist, walk forward, OTG, assist hit 1 assist hit 2 pipe dash otg 577,600

Assist B Gun Fire (Chris shows up and shoots a sub machine gun)

After throw: if messed up they will pop out in between bullets and pipe. very easy otherwise. The usual, call assist at end of throw.

After air throw: timing is stict. delay pipe a bit to hit close to end of gun fire to get the ground bounce.

After sky high back drop: couldnt get it.

After pile driver: nope.

after ending air combo with qcf+S: nope

after ending air combo with S: 568,100 air pipe, m s jump m h air pipe S, dash and call assist, walk forward, OTG, pipe dash otg. timing to get that last pipe in is strict otherwise they pop out and can block the otg since bullets will hit after pipe.

Assist Y (Grenade Toss) Chris dumps a land mine in front,

After throw: very easy to get the ground bounce, dash in S etc. if whiffed they can’t visibly see the mine and are forced to block if in corner.

After air throw: Piano dash then assist, otg immediatly, then pipe for ground bounce. dash in S etc.

After sky high back drop: nope.

After pile driver: nope.

after ending air combo with qcf+S: nope.

after ending air combo with S: 571,600 in the corner or ending in the corner only. Air Pipe M S jump M H Air Pipe S land dash+call assist, otg, assist hits, pipe hits otg.

Been running Chris/Joe/Haggar since vanilla but have switched out Haggar for strider.

After experimenting with a few assists I have to agree with you that strider seems to be to the new go to assist for chris. I’ve been having trouble following up the otg H with the magnum after the end of a standard bnb (vanilla) for chris, maybe too much hit stun?

My new BnB with chris is pretty straight forward with decent damage:

Timing:
When in corner you have to delay the grenade super slighly after the M grenade. Can be followed with Flame thrower + sweep combo
When mid screen you do not have to delay the grenade super after the M grenade. Can be followed up with Magnum + lvl 3

So I’m trying to come up with a secondary team for ultimate, and I definitely want Chris on it. Problem is I have a hard time finding teammates that work well with him. Now that ultimates been out a week, what do people think about Chris/Nova/Strange? Strong? Weak? Any suggestions are welcome.

Chris needs:

A) a get off me assist.

Chris benefits from… (optional IMO)
A) beam/projectile assists
B) a harrasment assist so he can chip.

Chris does not need:
A) meter
B) otg assist

Does this even exist anymore? If so, who has one?

I heavily enjoy playing Chris (Gun Fire)/Doom (Plasma Beam)/Strider (Vajra).

Non-mindless Haggar lariat.

Pre-emptive jam session, pre-emptive log trap, pre-emptive upwards shuma beam, peekaboo…

I suppose I should have phrased it as “stay away from me” instead of “get off me”

Chris needs a teleport.

This is my new team, although I put Doom on anchor. It’s phenomenal. Chris with Vajra assist is great and Plasma Beam really helps ramp up the chip. I can constantly get at least 800k off of any hit when he has Vajra assist to help extend the combo. Plus it’s very DHC friendly.

Is everyone unaminous that Strider(Vajra) is Chris’s best friend forever? Against characters such as sentinel you can almost troll in prone spamming gunshot and strider assist.

Does Chris have any other ridiculous assist synergies?

I’ve been having lots of success with Doom’s Plasma beam. Massive chip if you can tandem SMG>Plasma Beam, prone and Plasma Beam is pretty effective, good DHC options…
