Trish is fantastic on point. Trish can lay traps and chris can cover and on opportunities deal excellent damage.

Your solution is simple. If they give you that much trouble in xf3 DONT let them get to that point. Snap them the hell in and take them down early. This way you eliminate them before they go durp factor 3.

Learn how to burn their xfactor. Trish’s round harvest super is a prime example of this as well as her traps and flight.

My teams with Chris are:

Chris “a” type, Phoenix “b” type, and Storm “a” type

Chris “a” type, Doctor Doom “a” type, and Thor “a” type

These two teams help Chris out with building offensive momentum and buy him time to set up traps with grenades and landmine. I mostly try and fight my battles mid-screen, using j. pistol/shotgun, while keeping Chris in between or at least somewhere close to the grenade traps. This is how I bait for combos, minor chip-traps, and throws.

I really like how these teams play out for Chris, they help him build offensive momentum (something that really hurts him in MVC3, a lot), and they allow him to keep up the zoning in some unique kind of way.

This is just my opinion, what do you all (or at least the ones that want to respond) think?

Your second team sounds far better for momentum and allowing chris to maintain control.

Dude I literally switched my team around just as you said… God I live you dude!!! I literally went 45-8 lol I caught up my win ratio to past 50% wins and i’m also almost 6th lord! And I did it all without the use of tier whoring I just picked
my favorites characters!

I’m so thankful for your advice it’s exactly what I needed. I’m not a great player… Honestly don’t have time to be but for as sorry as I am of a player still I’m proud of my progress! :smiley: I’m keeping this team come Umvc3!

Awesome. I’m glad this lowly scrub who hasn’t played this game in months was able to help.

The only problem here is that Trish is likely also your best anchor here given Chris’ weakness vs jumpin and at 45 degree angle in front of him and she hulk with getting in.

Don’t forget about round harvest being a free raw tag out for her if she needs a break.

What assists do you use? I assume trap fir trish gunfire for chris and no clue on Shulk

After watching Rocket Raccoon’s trailer, I’m already entertaining the idea of fitting him into a team with Chris. They seem perfect for each other with a lot in common and possibly a lot of crazy synergy. RR can lay tons of different traps on the ground, and then you could add a Chris land mine assist on top of that? Yes.

Yes it does, imho Chris has the potential to be as good as Doctor Doom and Thor if played in the right hands and can near perfectly wipeout an entire team on point. I really enjoy using Phoenix as well. She can cut a lot of attacks out of your path using tk overdrive. Trying to figure out how to rush down with tk overdrive and mixing up enemies with M & H teleport is fun and pretty easy to learn. Which makes me wonder why most people just play runaway with her instead. Cowards.

I mained Chris for ever since the game first game out. And i pretty much experience with him and have done sick combos with this team.I will put a video of Chris Combos with my team!!!

And he has an anti-air assist too with that log trap, which Chris really needs. RR might find his way onto my team also.

I had a vision last night which involved a Chris combo with log trap assist extending it. I just hope it works when I try it in two weeks. RR is officially my anchor now…sorry Ghost Rider.

My new team is Chris(black color), Strider(black color), and RR in UMVC3. Imma see how it turns out with this team

a lot of us chris players think alike. rocket raccoon and chris it is for me too. with the inability to block in airdashes, pendulum assist into a chris combo will really hurt. man i have so many ideas for that pendulum assist i need this game now!

i do feel like i need a 3rd rushdown anchor for those comebacks if necessary. all of the new characters are much more interesting than the current cast so it will be a while until i find that anchor.

I’m thinking Frank West would be awesome now on a Chris team. If he’s on point and THCs after a combo with Chris he can drink then get a quick level up to maybe 3 or 4, then switch him out for anchor, you get the shopping cart assist which could easily extend Chris combos and if Frank comes back out you have some devastating weapons, a roll that could mix anyone up even with x factor, and a nice invincible (?) anti air hyper.
Same theory as Phoenix Wright, get the evidence, get into turnabout mode, and then make him anchor for that invincible assist. Every chris player loves an invincible assist!

Chris needs a gtfo. strider’s fucking dive kick assist helping a teleporter is really really bad. strider’s assist comes out and tracks and cant do shit but block and guess.

Haggar will hit strider out, but if the teleporter reads and ducks, he gets a happy birthday

(This reminds me: Should we make a new teammate thread for UMvC3 Chris? Or is this one fine? I kinda wanted to [eventually] get rid of all the vanilla related ones, though that may just be me; this is the least “offensive” of the remaining four, though.)

You might want to list the assist of Jill your talking about. I’m guessing it’s Arrow Kick, but yeah. Also, not to sound snobby, but that’s pretty standard damage for an assist-based combo ending in super considering how much Chris already hurts. I know you said it’s a BnB, though–I’m just not convinced Chris and Jill are that great together, if only because they’re both utterly unable to control the air.

Actually, pretty much all the Resident Evil characters have trouble with people are super jump height.

I thought that Drinking causes you to vomit no matter what. Has it been confirmed that he indeed doesn’t suffer from the affects of Drinking if he switches out before his internal timer up is? Because that otherwise seems like a pretty horrible idea.

Vajira is going to be problematic for pretty much everyone, though, especially with a teleporter using it. I’d argue that Chris has a better answer to it than most since, due to knowing where Strider is going, it seems like it should be easier to get him to fall on a Land Mine (provided you block and/or get hit while crouching) or Incendiary Grenade (provided you just launched the grenade or jump over a pool of flame).

It’s going to be annoying, but Chris seems like he has answers. It also helps that Chris already needs anti-air assists, so it’s more a problem of being “Happy Birthday”'d like always rather than Vajira itself for him–you shouldn’t be getting predictable with super-jump :d: + :h: into Machine Gun or Magnum anyway.

Actually, do we know how low Vajira hits? I haven’t been keeping up with Strider at all. However, it just occurred to me that perhaps Prone Position can avoid it entirely considering how low the ground Chris gets?

Tagging Frank out after drinking gives him time to ‘sober up’ and bypass vomiting even if tagged back in or snapped in as far as I know.

I have Chris / Haggar / Doom right now and while Haggar helps, you have to be really smart about using it… Haggar is so much more easily punished in Ultimate, Chris is going to need to figure out how to cover himself more independently. Oh and I like that Chris can call assists while prone, so good. Prone shot + missiles lol

(Oh, I see. That Frank West thread is kinda a mess, so I couldn’t tell in the brief time I looked at it.)

You’ve always been able to call assists during Prone Position–and I’m not saying that you said you couldn’t in vanilla; I just want to be clear.

Still, it’s good to know that it already seems to have a use, even if missiles are…missiles.
