So I’ve been running Chris/Haggar/Ammy for a while now and I"ve gotten a great liking to it. Though recently I swapped the positions of Haggar and Ammy.
Although the formula for this game is Point/Assist/Anchor, I’m doing Point/Anchor/Assist instead where I can always have my Haggar Assist and then just use Level 2 X-Factor with Ammy.
Positives having Chris/Ammy/Haggar over Chris/Haggar/Ammy
When Chris dies, Haggar doesn’t loose all his red life he’s gained from his assists
DHC into Okami Shuffle instead of Haggar’s specials which aren’t as good
Crossover Combinations will include GL and Okami Shuffle instead of GL and Body Press, basically the Crossover Combination will actually connect.
Ammy will have an assist
Level 2 X-Factor for Ammy is only 10% lower in power, so it hardly makes a difference, I’d rather have my Haggar assist over that.
When Chris dies, Ammy will come in and put up a fight instead of Haggar getting bodied for free.
If Ammy dies, Haggar should have full life left and can make a last ditch effort if the opponent doesn’t have my health left.
Negatives
Ammy loses 5 seconds of X-Factor
Ammy loses 10% power in X-Factor
The team works really nicely because it takes down rush down tactics pretty easily and Chris can “bring the pain” once he gets his combos started. Both Double lariat and Cold Star can be used as combo extenders (combo into the corner, cr. H into lariat assist, Grenade Toss M, GL, Cold Star Assist + Flamethrower (for the shortest amount of time) into another grenade toss M into GL, finally followed up with Flamethrower into Sweep Combo.
Cold Star can also be used during the wake up after a combo, during then you can deal all sorts of chip damage with air Shotgun followed by Gunfire M or Flamethrower. Continue the pressure and then call out the Haggar Assist to cause even more chaos.
The main downsides to this team though is that teams can run away from them so easily. Due to Chris’s blind spot characters like Wesker, Trish, Taskmaster, ect can simply out zone him and render him useless, they can also bait the Haggar Assist for a Happy Birthday. If you bring Ammy you better not get hit because if she does its over since they’ll use X-Factor just to get rid of her. Leaving Chris and Haggar to a keep away game where they’ll never be able to catch them.
I get what you’re saying, but I think putting Haggar last instead of Ammy is extremely detrimental. Amaterasu, with the exception of Phoenix (a HUGE exception) is probably the single most self sufficient character in the whole game. She doesn’t need the Haggar assist at all, where as he would benefit immensely from the Cold Star assist. In fact, I think in alot of situations where Haggar’s lariat would blow people up Amaterasu’s hitbox is small enough that she would avoid the attack anyway. As far as Ammy X-factor is concerned, I wouldn’t even take that into account at all. She has without a doubt the worst X factor in the game. The difference between her X2 and X3 is negligable and really shouldn’t be considered when deciding where to place her. IMHO she should either be first because she’s one of the best in the game or last because she’s one of the best in the game and can also help out with the assist, but in your situation I see no reason the chose Haggar as anchor over her.
i have a current team of chris, haggar, and akuma in that order. i used to have haggar last but switched it around and have become more successful with my team.
the major reason why i have haggar second and not last is to protect my last character from the incoming mixup. haggar can do it by getting mixed up himself and absorb the damage without dying or avoid the mixup and bring in the last character somehow. most incoming characters can continuously mixed up in the air and on the ground, haggar can only be mixed up in the air because he can safely land and lariat into xfc.
here’s an example of what i mean: chris dies, haggar comes in gets mixed up, somehow is able to avoid the air mixup, gets mixed up again while he’s on the ground, haggar lariats, get’s a hit, hit confirm into xfc, fH, s, air combo, body splash super, dhc into 3rd character. that combo kills any full health character in the game, is very easy to hit confirm and execute and can also potientially give a happy birthday. and i also still get to use the haggar assist even if he came in with low health.
So I’ve been messing with Haggar’s Pipe assist with Chris on point…
if you are close enough to the wall or have them cornered and land a Magnum I call Haggar’s Pipe, do a OTG pistol shot, Pipe ground bounces and I magnum Again.
I tried doing Boulder Punches to Level 3, but I don’t think it works. anyone have any better ideas in this situation? It’s laughably easy damage and even easier to do.
Need some help. My 2nd team as it stands now is Skrull/Chris/Spencer. They are my 3 favorite chars to play as, I have fun with them and their synergy is decent at best. I’ve been in the process of learning DOOM and I was going to try to sub him for Spencer (since Spencer is on my main team). But now after seeing all the synergy that Chris/Spencer/DOOM have I am torn. I’m really bad with DOOM right now but I plan on getting him down before Ultimate. Does anyone have a Skrull/Chris team that can give me tips.
I mainly do the Chris BnB
st. > st.:h: > f.:h: > :s: > > > :h: > :s: > jump Gun Fire > :f:+:h: > :s: > > > :h: > :s: > :d:+:h: > :a1: >:b:+:h: > Sweep Combo [686,000] with Inferno DHC [828,600]
Also usually DHC Inferno into Grenade Launcher in the corner.
Thats really all I got between the two.
After typing this out I realize DOOM makes more sense. But still, can I see what you guys have cooked up.
I’m gonna go ahead and claim Hawkeye/Chris/Ghost Rider as my day 1 team in Ultimate. Hawkeye looks amazing on point and GR looks great as an anchor. I hate dropping Task but Hawkeye’s projectiles are much faster and more durable, and that punish hyper is too good. Maybe I’ll sub Task in at some points, I feel like I’ll miss his counter in some matchups.
i watched the iplaywinner ultimate norcal vs capcom stream last night and i’d have to say nearly all the new characters look impressive and hawkeye looks like an amazing zoner. unlike chris he can control both air space and ground space very well. comboing into poison arrows will force the opponent to make mistakes. his snipe you anywhere/anytime arrows has got to be one of the best gtfo supers in the game! his assists also look very good in tandem with chris on point. i’d say he’s a very good choice as a teammate.
and with dhc glitch gone and x factor, especially level 1, being less powerful, chris’s high life will matter and gtfo assists won’t be as necessary allowing you to have 3 good characters.
Great thread guys! I’m new to SRK, so this is my first post.
My team has pretty much always been: Chris B / XXX / Spencer A with the XXX position usually being held by S.Gorath A.
I choose Spencer’s horizontal grapple for three main reasons: 1.) You can convert a throw or close hard knockdown into a relaunch combo, sweep combo, or flamethrower / landmine mixup from almost anywhere on the screen. 2.) If you are actually getting out-zoned, you can try to pull your opponent in for a mixup. 3.) Angled grapple can work similarly, but catches them inconsistently after a cr.H gun.
I would put Spencer second, because their DHC options are pretty good, but I like him way better as an anchor. Plus, I prefer to zone and build meter with Chris to make people get reckless…
Shuma’s ray assist does a ridiculously good job of covering all of the places that Chris can’t (the entire top half of the screen), and allows you to get grenades out with little risk. It also works pretty well as a GTFO move if they start closing the gap. Since it briefly keeps them airborne, you can sometimes dash in for a free combo or throw mixup for when they land.
Has anyone else fooled around with Chris in the second slot? I’ve been tinkering with the idea and on paper he seems viable if backed up with lariat. His lvl 2 X-factor is very strong. With it he can kill any character fast, he can self combo off both his grabs, and chip levels are really high.
I like him fine in that spot when backed up with the right assist, although when given an option I usually DHC him in to keep my Task alive for chipping/THC shenanigans.
Honestly, it depends on anchor and if your point character benefits from Chris’ assists at all. Chris in second with lariat means Hagger is Anchor. no bueno.
I was considering running spencer, chris, doom. But i like doom too much to anchor him. i want him out with an assist behind him. Using spencer assist with doom after a kill creates a lot of nasty mixups. I don’t like running spencer first because i feel like i gotta go in with him. I can’t just chip away full screen with Spencer like i can with Chris or Doom.
I run Chris, Doom, Spencer. Chris + Missiles is better than Doom + SMG.
Sounds like a plan. but my team being Chris Haggar Tasky I’m not comfy with him or Haggar as the Anchor… we’ll see. I’ll give it a shot.
on Second thought That wont work. I prefer having Chris or Tasky on point with Haggar backing them up. if I get something in a combo I look for an opportunity to get Haggar in for free easy damage and go in from there. I think Chris is better on second only with certain people as anchor. his Landmine is usable (imo) and Gun Fire getting sped up is a good thing too.
Edit: only real problem I have is matchups with chars that blow up both Chris and Haggar (Fuck you Trish. Fuck you.)
I’ve been having Chris in the second slot typically with gunfire.
The main thing if you want to DHC into him is to have some sort of super that covers him…in my case during Amaterasu’s okami shuffle super, I DHC after the ice segment so the lightning will cover him a bit as he gets the homing grenade into the air.
Too many times have I not placed okami shuffle well and people with fast mobile characters or characters right next to me, would grab Chris timing it up so the second homing grenade wouldn’t hit them.
If you do get him in, as we all know, he’s a great battery.
-He has access to LVL 2 X-Factor
-Builds Meter
-Don’t have to worry about him being out-anchored against the likes of Magneto, Akuma, Viper, Phoenix, etc.
Also, from what I’ve played at UMVC3 Norcal vs Capcom…I’d place Hawkeye at anchor. He benefits A LOT from meter and x-factor. I was talking to F.Champ about some of the things Hawkeye can do with bar and x-factor vs. any character (particularly Phoenix) and Hawkeye can punish with 400k easily on the screen with:
Golden Arrow >> X-Factor >> Golden Arrow. That is GUARANTEED 400k…although I’m quite unsure because I think golden arrow may do 250k damage.
Hawkeye has 5 bars? You push block the opponent and they whiff their third normal? You punish with golden arrow.
Very good character overall and definitely from what I’ve seen and played…very easy to be good with. And he has a She-Hulk esque slide!!! Dammmn.
I’ve also been considering this and I did also ponder his lvl 3 xfactor punish abilities, very deadly. I haven’t even played the game yet and I’m planning this shit out in my head haha
I’m thinking Hawkeye on point because I’m so used to starting Task in vanilla and I have a specific combo in mind that I’m hoping will work once I test it out on release day.
In Maximillian’s video on Nemesis he said that Nemmy’s launcher slam assist has 1 hit of Hyper Armor and it comes out quick which means it would be a good assist choice for Chris. On the flip sidehowever it causes a ground bounce so you won’t be able to combo into the Sweep combo afterwards.
Im having a hard time figuring it out. Maybe you guys can help me out.
This is my team now.
She-Hulk
Chris
Trish/Morrigan
My alternate team is
Chris
China Li
Deadpool
But more on my main team i think i have equal success overall between Shehulk and Chris…
If I run She-Hulk on point I have Gunfire on assist… which does a half decent job covering me…
If I use Chris on point I have She-Hulk with the AA assist which helps a lot. My problem is with Morrigan/Trish… I get herp derped on by xf3 Akumas and Weskers. I can’t tell you HOW MANY LOSSES I have where i dominated the ENTIRE match then a herp derp Sentinel Akuma or Wesker especially Akuma though( he is the worst ) beats… who should I use in my third spot you think?..
I just can’t seem to close out matches with my main team… it’s so annoying and I really don’t want to resort to using Wesker Akuma or Sentinel myself… I so don’t want to do that?
