Missing the point. Anything that exploits female sexuality here sells. You can still buy kiddy porn here, games that are based off rape and groping… and there are to many examples of to explain. Or get it to where you even care nor do i even intend to.
My point was that a game like this should/would sell just on the graphics itself. Dont need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out or a social anthropologist to understand why. TIJ.

I’m just curious to see if America can make a fighting game that Japanese top players can take seriously.
No arcade release = damned to niche. I doubt they’d play a foreign title even if it was perfect. Them just the breaks. Not sure why anyone cares about impressing Japan. I guess we still have little brother syndrome when the video game market has clearly moved on.
To CALL OF DUTY EXTREME MOUNTAIN DEW DRINK YOUR OWN PISS EDITION!?
They like hentai why not?
Well, they’re better at fighting games in general, both on making and playing, so that’s why a lot of people care, just like people from whatever country care about how their movies do in america as an example(a crappy example, I know).
Japan liking the game means more technology and the possibility of international competition. SFIV wouldn’t be half the game it is today for spectators without the international headbutting. I don’t see how it isn’t important. I can’t do anything about it in the end though. Let’s just hope that Reverge Labs finds a Japanese publisher willing to build an arcade scene for the game. More sales and money are never a bad thing.
Then we should be worried about international appeal overall. Japan isn’t the only one that can break down a game. Quite a few games have done well without Japan playing.
They were until Skullgirls came around.
Well, I used to play Guilty Gear, so…not yet for me… But regarding the fighting games of this gen I would agree for sure, hope they keep improving this game.
Yeah the more casual players are all “lol American Arcana” and taking screens of the upskirt shots too.
Long as they gave Mike that paypuh I don’t care what they do if they’re enjoying the game and it’s not hurting the competitive scene.
I firmly believe this game will be released in Japan eventually. No doubt about it.
Since Skullgirls is a fighting game with:
A) High-level fighting game mechanics.
B) An exotic setting and characters (Even more so for the japanese, since it’s western made).
C) A dev group willing to consistenly improve and expand the game and who also listens to their audience.
D) Great music composed by the goddess-like Michiru Yamane.
Man, I love the Rocket KnightAdventures, Contra: Hard Corps and CV: Sotn soundtracks.
E) Its characters are cute (Painwheel is the cutest! Peacock is pretty cool) or/and sexy (Parasoul/Valentine ohbaby.jpg). Fanservice alone can MOVE MOUNTAINS in Japan.
Just look at The IdolM@ster, Dream C Club, Arcana Hearts 3, etc. All released on 360 btw (Which is regarded as the gaijin console).
Even Cave dabbled into it with Muchi Muchi Pork, (which was released on 360 along with Ibara: Pink Sweets).and to some extent in Deathsmilesas well.
The combination of these factors make Skullgirls into the most likely western game to succeed there.
When the game gets released in Japan, it’ll:
A) Get into the land with the highest echelon of fighting game competition. Especially, if it gets released on japanese arcades besides consoles.
B) Receive additional very valuable feedback regarding tweaking, buffing/nerfing, etc which will come naturally from high level competition.
C) Expand its playerbase like no tomorrow for the years to come. Once the japanese players become fans of a game, they tend to play it for longer than most of us westerners.
D) The great influx of japanese players will fuel competition and thus improve further the skill level of players worldwide. It’ll gain more relevance in tournaments, both local and international.
E) Well, duh. Provide the devs and publishers with big profits.
And even if the worse possible case scenario were to happen and for some cosmic fuck up Japan were to dislike the game mechanics, then the fanservice alone (Which is higher than Arcana Heart, no small feat) would sell the game enough to make it profitable.
No way in hell Konami wasn’t thinking about the japanese market right from the start.
That said, I love Hitomi no Kioku.
The devs and publishers are probably planning to expand the character roster a tad more (so the character number resembles BlazBlue’s initial cast) before launching the game in Japan. A wise strategy indeed.
Besides another reason to wait a little would be the Accent Core Plus release on 360/PS3 .
The game won’t take off in Japan until the train stage gets introduced. Filia is an okay substitute for tentacle raped schoolgirls, but there’s no proper groping place yet (a church doesn’t qualify in Japan).
lol@this thread
i wonder if westaboos over in japland go “do america like our sfxt?”
Do you love this shit? Are you high right now? Do you ever get
nervous?
Are you single? I heard you fucked your girl, is it true?
You getting money? You think them niggas you with is with you?
Sorry just had to…
For scientific purposes.
This game is effectively Marvel 2 with everything the Japanese complained about stripped out, would be interesting to see if they are more accepting of it or just think “it’s Marvel 2” and walk away.
Not gonna affect whether I play the game or not but I like researching opinions so I know who to think is stupid.
or dismiss it like Arcana Heart (yeah those games get crap over there too)
Yeah I remember Fredia saying on Alagram that Arcana Heart was called a kusoru. I was like wow I guess Japan really on respects 4 games or something.
