Japan "Tougeki SBO 2" Qualifier Results - As they happen

I SECOND THIS MOTION

EDIT: Here’s a question. Is “Deshiken” KFG? I seem to recall that being what the kanji in his name means.

Thanks,
Josh.

sorry i’ve been real busy lately. i’ll update it soon.

yeah deshiken is also known as KFG.

Isnt that the green Ken that owned up Mester in coopcup1??

yep thats him alright.

btw first post has been updated. thanks rock for the latest results.

Hows that Urien website coming along?

Jive Out!

Can I be on it? Pwetty please:p

That should be for us. (One bomb ass US team)

Go Jima go!

seems like there are a lot of players who have quit??? or don’t plan on attending SBO2

like onanism, daigo, nitto, meta, etc

Onanism still plays 3s, he won a Sportsland tourney just recently. Maybe he just didn’t feel like travelling to try to get one of the last spots or something. Or maybe he’s part of the staff.

I think Daigo entered some of the qualifiers but didn’t win. I don’t know about Nitto and Meta. But it’s not like they can just enter one tournament and qualify straight away anyway, remember it took Daigo and Tokido’s teams like 7 tries to make it last year (and they had pretty solid teams too).

Thats a real scary thought. Mothafuckas in Japan are that good? INSANE:eek:

billykane, who did daigo team up with?

wow, according the results page, a lot of the players tried out to qualify, even tho there teams arent that great they have atleast one really good player on there. nitto, tokido, meta, onanism, ryo chin, tk, yukino, danna, ochibi and fureji. wow… only one spot left, so i guess most of them will not make it for sbo

daigo played with nitto and raoh last year

YAY!!! KO/Boss/Nuki qual’d :).

JP

Onanism teamed up with Meta’s Ken and a Sean player.

I have never seen a Japanese Sean in tourneys…

So how are the brackets determined?

random drawing?

one thing i always liked about japan 3s plays, is that you can always count on a wide variety of chars used.

And why is that? they must play the game enough to know that its just much tougher to win with low tiers… so why is their mentality so different? do they just like to be unique or perhaps mastering a lowtier character will really get “respect” from fellow players… I am pretty sure they all have enough skills to use Yun, Ken, Chun and such…

maybe they play as twelve necro q and remy for themselves and not to get recognition from others.

Pure Americanish SRK mentality. im not trying to diss ya. Skillwise/logicwise. But you seem overly perplexed at the japanese using remy/elena/ibuki etc at a high stakes tourny. The possible reasons that u mentioned above are certainly true for some people of course, but just because ken/yun/chun are “overall” better characters doesnt mean that they are the best usable characters to everyone. Maybe they dont like the idea of centering their whole gameplan on landing lw.fwdxxsa2. Or lw.strngxxsa3. Maybe they dont like playing a character who really sucks aside from his unblockables. Or maybe they dont like dealing damage thru long, canned combos.

Maybe they like seeing sum1 helpless in the corner, eating charge partition’ed LOV’s one after another. Heck, maybe one of em is gay and thinks Q is sexy. Whatever their reasons, why cant someone have more success playing Ibuki then with chun? Its definitely harder work, but if your the type who gets bored to death with Chun’s (imho) simple options or whatnot, wouldnt it be worse if i played ken in a tourny?

Chikyu LIKES playing 12 the way he does. he’s proficient at it, and maybe thats how his mind works. but in the end, you’re right. it IS harder work, and thats why the top 3 place higher in MOST(not all) tournys than the rest of the cast. Since winning with them is less stressful, its only natural for the majority of scrubs and experts alike to choose to use em. But, there are always those who think differently and have different tastes etc , and thus choosing to play a lower tiered character doesnt mean they take winning the game less seriously.
