Interact is indeed a foot in the door. I have friends who have nothing but love for it and some who are looking for other jobs but I think that’s the way it is with all English teaching jobs. People either really hate it or really love it. Keys to success are connecting with the local English teaching community and getting out and about when you can. If you do so, it’s an AWESOME experience =)
Thanks Heart nana. Will be there this month!
I’ll be in Osaka.
I dont really like marvel but it’ll be cool to watch and interact etc
Im BBCS and SF4
I would like to try out KOF13 too
Crazy earthquake hit you guys. Stay safe Japan community!
All Japan community. Stay Strong!.. If we (Chile) Survived the same earthquake, you can too!..
Stay strong, Japan!
Thanks for the input, guys. That foot in the door is all I’m really looking for.
Hope every SRK member in Japan is doing okay. I still haven’t heard from friends in the Sendai region, so I hope that you and all your pals are safe and sound.
Stay safe everyone.
Signed,
Everybody
Definitely. SRK should post up an official shout out if they haven’t already, considering Capcom and many of our community fighting game brethren/icons are over there. Japan is not a relatively large place, they just got bodied by 8.9 earthquakes, tsunami aftermaths, and radioactive leaks. Hope peeps come out safe.
my japanesse bros stay STRONG keep ure head up…my prayers are with u guys…i got homies out there now… i cant even get ahold of them…fuck…fuck…
We’re all good in Kansai. Was in Kyoto/Osaka with no problems at all.
Thanks for the love guys =D
Everything is good down my way. I only felt a little bit of shaking to be honest. The stuff I’m seeing on the news now is crazy though. I feel really lucky right now. I used to be living in Iwate a few years ago. Thankfully it didn’t hit my previous area too hard either and everyone I know seems to be ok, maybe just without power.
Stay safe, guys. Time to bust out the chess set and RISK board.
I hope you guys are doing okay. It’s been almost 2 weeks since the hit how has everything been?
On the west side (from basically nagoya over) nothing has changed at all. I heard Tokyo and surrounding areas were peppered with earthquakes and had planned blackouts due to the lack of power in the region but everything seems to be getting better.
Wow, I really had to dig to find this thread.
Okay, so on my way back from Korea this year, I have a 17.5 hour layover in Japan. I get in at 1:20pm on the 1st of July, and my flight to Detroit takes off at 6:55am on the 2nd. Consequently, I also have to switch airports, from Narita to Haneda. Also, I’m on Delta, who is kind enough NOT to pay for lodging and transportation to Haneda.
May have someone that I can stay with overnight before I go to Haneda (NKI), although he has two other friends coming in over the summer, but he’s not sure if it’s the same time as me, so he has to see. But I’m thinking of using some of this time off to do a little sightseeing, as this will be the first time I’ve been IN Tokyo. I’ve been to Narita before, and airports are just airports, so I don’t want to just hang around Haneda for 15-14 hours waiting for my flight.
I’m going on a rough budget as it is, but I’m trying to hold back enough that I can have around 10000 Yen (and praying the exchange rate improves from either KRW or USD to JPY before the 1st). Will this be enough for one day in Tokyo? Naturally, I’ll be needing food. I’ll have something on my flight from Incheon, but I’ll be hungry later. Plus I do want to see some sights, and maybe hit up an arcade for AE. I may also be meeting up with another friend (Japanese) while I’m in Tokyo, but kind of similar to NKI’s situation, it’s a wait-and-see on whether schedules conflict.
So what can I do as far as sightseeing on the cheap? What are my cheapest options for riding the trains in Tokyo? And I know that ramen’s my cheapest solution for food, but is there anything else on the cheap, like sushi or donkatsu or such?
My only other concern is getting to Haneda on time. I don’t even want to think of how expensive a cab would be to the airport. But I don’t know what station NKI lives near yet, so once I know, I’ll either ask him or you guys. But if I can’t stay with him, I’ll likely head towards Haneda to sleep in the airport (benches ftl, but I can manage), so I also would need to know when trains stop running so I can get there before trains shut down.
How are most of the gaming centers/Arcades looking?
This thread is awfully quite recently. As for game centers I find them still to be pretty lively in some areas but it depends if they have the newest games or not. It has been dieing down as a whole though I believe. Hopefully with the arrival of TTT2, SFXT, TXSF it will pick back up again. When I go to places with SF4AE there is usually some people playing now wanting to try out Oni or E.Ryu but it’s not like it was when SF4 was released.
Just had my final Interac interview today in Spokane. Felt pretty good about it, and I think I nailed the video section. now just have to wait three weeks to see if I can finally go back to Japan.
