JAPAN THREAD 2009: 3rd Strike!

Hello, SRK Japan!

I’m going to be living in Tokyo (attending Tokyo Gakugei Daigaku) starting Oct.1 until August of 2010… I hope to be able to meet up and play some games with you guys during my stay and make some SRK connections in the far east.

Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu! :lovin:

Does anybody know where I could take my xbox360 to get it repaired? My shit just got the red ring of death thing. I’m guessing in Akihabara they would have some sort of repair service

just go around akihabara and find some hole in the wall foreign shop to do it. they also sell R4DSs, do Wi chip mods, etc.

just lug your 360 around until you find a shop that will do it. some of them will even look at it with you there.

hope this helps

chris: ya long time no see man. sportsland does the 300 yen free play, but i havent been out in hella days cause my wife is pregnant again… I cant even play at home cause them damns sticks are too loud.

hope to see you around pm me with your keitai address and i will send you my contact profile thing.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I’ve searched online to no avail (mostly due to the lack of a good query to find out the answer), but how does one go about getting one of those ID cards for SFIV arcade machines? Thanks.

I got mine out of a machine near some SF4 cabinets… Shouldn’t be hard to miss if you see it.

Hey where is Shibuya Sportsland?

According to the Sportsland Shibuya thread, Shibuya ku, Utagawa cho 24-6.

from shibuya kaikan, just walk down the street towards condomania, and it should be on your right.

you will see some crane machines and a small ass stairwell by the entrance, goto b1.

if you get to condomania, you gone too far.

hope that helps, condomania has a big condom character sign, can;t miss it unless you look at your feet all day.

good store to get big boy size condoms too. fuck them 12 yo size kimono condoms…

i know exactly where you’re talkin about now. there’s that dope ass ramen spot underneath a giant green graffiti mural i always hit up when i’m in need of that grub.

get it while you can guys! i’m heading to the BK in shibuya tomorrow to get one… breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Also, I want to join the gaijin SF4 guild a lot of you guys are in… how would I go about doing that (if I’m allowed, that is.) If you want to look me up on the sf4 mobile site, my arcade tag is: SHIKEN

lol wtf is that whopper for real?

anyway to join the gaijin’s guild you need the password (which ive forgotten lol)… try askin azrael/reno or summin…

it has been a while since i seen something like that.

we need Carls Jr. out her pranto. I can kill for a double western bacon cheese burger.

sonics would be good too…

double western bacon cheeseburger or a six dollar burger would hit that spot, yo.

freshness burger is most on point in japan, i believe.

just killed a windows 7 whopper. i’ll be payin for that shit tonight and tomorrow.

^are they still offering the windows 7 whopper??

Hey, anybody close to Sasebo (Nagasaki), or Fukuoka, or just simply know where there’s a good arcade, preferably with 3rd Strike?

Think yesterday was the last day for that shit.

They also sell Heineken at Burger King. Thought that was odd.

hey guys,

how much yen should a guy bring for a 9 night trip in Tokyo?
I’m staying in Shinjuku, but I plan to go just hang around/see all the adjacent areas with the gf. (shibuya, akihabara, etc.)

Not really planning on doing a ton of shopping, just mostly spending money on food, booze, entertainment, transportation etc. I want to try out some nicer restaurants and probably hit up a club or two (if I can figure out a way around the language barrier).

I’ll be making a bunch of stops at the big box arcade everyone talks about. How much is it per play there? 50 yen or 100 yen?

Thanks!

Are you including hotel fees in your question, or just entertainment/shopping and shit?

Hotel fees not included, I’d say bring about 120,000 yen (about a little more than 1400.00 Canadian dollars. personally, i think now is a pretty horrible time to visit Japan as the Yen is really strong right now… the exchange rates are quite brutal at the moment) or more to spend if you want to have a good time.

I haven’t been to the Taito Station at Big Box (Takadanobaba) yet, but Sportsland Shibuya is really cheap… 50 yen for 2 plays last time I was there. :lovin:

never seen a BK here in japland…

they sell heinies at Excellcer for like 400 yen… that is about 500 yen cheaper than *most *bars.
