Japan Arcade’s hours are still the same on Sun-Thurs, but on Fri & Sat we’re aiming at closing at 1pm (or later depending on how many people are there). I will personally be closing at JA tonight, and I’ll stay open at least until 1am. I might be closing on Saturday as well.
The phone number is not in service, we’re working on getting it back (even that seems to have been busted >.<).
Currently everything is not at 100%, but we’re working on fixing everything. It’s all one step at a time. SF4 is set, the AM sticks will be added soon, most of the fighting games have brand new buttons (I think Xmen vs. SF is the only one that hasn’t got new buttons yet), and we’ll be swapping out all the sticks for brand new ones soon.
Jason (the owner of Japan Arcade and Super Arcade) is good friends with Ralph, so Ralph’s helping him out with stuff, and got a deal on acquiring Japan Arcade.
Went there about 8 today, was very empty. Only one other guy playing sf4, an able player who imo wasnt very good. My friend was playing blanka and he was doing alright.
Happy to see games working, but I am going to have to hold out on coming back until more people check it out.
The place was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. You guys have to get Super Street Fighter 4 in the arcade so more people will come. I know there are people who live in the area that would love to come if you guys didn’t only have vanilla. Just make a console machine and get the word out about the Arcade. The arcade has potential to be as good as arcade infinity we just need players to come out. I want this place to do well and I’m rooting you guys to do well, but you guys have to get super. People aren’t gonna show up just to play vanilla, 3rd strike and MvC2. Sure my scrubby ass will play those games but serious player won’t come out unless you have the latest and the greatest.
The way that we do US sticks on SF4 is that it’s actually a dual-select switch between JP or US sticks. It’s what we use at Family Fun Arcade. So don’t worry, JP sticks will still be on it. Also, consoles should be installed with Super SF4 any day now.
If you see the owner (Ralph) working on some machines there (he’s not asian) then feel free to say hi to him and let him know what you’d like to see in the place. He really appreciates the input.
Though I will say this: we really need to get the word out that Japan Arcade has been getting fixed. I was happy to see the machines working last time I went, but no one was there. I know this is all still a work in progress, but a little bit of advertising wouldn’t hurt.
Also, VERY surprised to see Initial D 5 there. A cousin of mine was hooked on it when we were there.
Hey everyone,
I just got a call from Ralph, the owner of FFA. He asked me to post on these threads to remind everyone that Alex?s Arcade in Anaheim is hosting SCR quals tomorrow night and he would like to encourage everyone to get out there and support this event. Alex is a nice guy and this location needs your support. The SoCal scene still has some of the best players in the US; let?s keep it that way.
(For those who don?t know, Ralph also built a cabinet for the arcade for a very reasonable price and would like to see this relationship continue. I think he put Marvel in it?)
I understand that CVS2 is a fun game and all but I hope you guys show up and play it. If no one starts going there then it will just be a waste of space. We should just try to get the word out about this place and accumulate some players first.
And don’t even get me started on the people asking for Melty Blood and Arcana Heart. No offense but I guarantee that no one is going to be playing those games. We live in America where people play Tekken, street fighter and occasionally KOF in arcades you guys need to get with the program.
I’ll try to go with a friend if you guys are having cvs2 day anytime soon. Btw I know it’s been said before but I wanna make sure: the cvs2 machine is gonna be head-to-head right???
I would say a Friday or Saturday night. Saturday is usually more convenient for me. Though I would like to have CvS2 there before we schedule a day to go.
