James Cameron's Avatar (Dec. 18th)

I’ve never been too interested in the movie but I might just check it out now to see how good the 3D is now thanks to this post.

Well its pretty accurate (though I’m still not sold on HD even though I have it, the only benefit was reading the text in Dead Rising shrug), When I saw Beowulf in 3D, it was really just like a couple scenes that ‘reach into the audience’, while the rest of the movie was pretty flat…this movie, starts off feeling a bit forced, but by the time the “Avatar” is introduced, its no longer a gimmick but a way of life. Its NEVER done for shock or awe after the first couple of scenes.

3d shit hurts my head sadly.

yeah the 3-D is used more as a tool to draw you into the movie and bring the whole experience to life. beyond the first 5 minutes theres nothing gimmicky about it.
i agree it’s very much like HD, which i personally love. There’s nothing new about the basic story points, but visually it’s something never done before. the story is good, but i agree that the movie may have been hyped up too much. then again i didn’t much like titanic and that’s somehow the 2nd highest grossing movie so maybe im just not hip enough.

Only reason why i tolerate Titanic let alone watch it is for the scenes from the time the boat hit the iceberg on to the end. The rest of the early stuff was ‘meh’ to me.

Pics from deleted scenes are begining to surface

Fairly obvious what Cameron is saying here

Avatar II: MiB in Space

Yeah, so I saw the movie again, and it’s a whole different (and better) experience if you sit in the back instead of up front.

I still think the movie’s just okay, though.

Bluray and DVD are out, just got my Bluray a few hours ago =3

I’m trying to decide what to do, this is the movie that makes me finally want Blu-ray…but I’m not buying a player anytime soon, so do I buy the DVD, and then rebuy it on Bluj-Ray in a year? I dunno…

Isn’t there a BD/DVD combo pack? If so, then just cop that

Got you covered

nice…i nev er order anything like that from offline, but I might on this…

  • :bluu:

Target is selling the same thing, for the same price

the movie is over 4 hours long. the cinema version isnt the full version. think we’ll get to see everything in the 3D DVD

Well the DVD has the ‘sex scene’ apparently…we’ll see.

IK want to get it on with Zoe so bad that I’ll take a rendered version…

DVD Special Features:

1.) The Single-Disc DVD Edition:

? No special features - just the 2-D theatrical movie presentation only

2.) A Two-Disc Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack

? No special features - just the 2-D theatrical movie presentation only

For either edition, there will be NO deleted scenes, interviews, commentary tracks, extended cuts, trailers, behind the scenes clips, or any other special features.

Fox claims this is to present the best picture and sound possible without compression. “It’s mastered at the highest quality possible, up to James Cameron’s own personal standards, and it doesn’t even have trailers on it, because they wanted to use all the space to show how great Pandora looks” (quoted from the first link below) This is similar to the initial release of the DVD of Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” in 2004 where it featured only the movie and no special features on the disc.

Now, if you want the bare-bones version of the movie, this release on Thursday is what you want. Now, if you want special features, etc. you’ll have to wait for the inevitable special edition in November 2010. Fox knows it has a cash cow on its hands and wants to milk it for all it is worth. So, it is planning to re-release Avatar in theaters, hopefully this summer or so, with additional footage. Then, it will include this additional footage plus a bunch of other special features not-as-yet detailed.

I’m waiting for the special edition…don’t fuck around FOX.
I want to see some alien beastiality!!!
