with regards to an hour of deleted footage: i really hope somehow that cameron re-animates some of the scenes he took out to make this closer to that "Project 880."
i for one welcome a 4 hour version of avatar if it includes a lot of the stuff he apparently took out or changed. even though i liked the original version a lot more, i can understand how he got avatar from the original. if he included everything it would have been a 5 hour movie easily.

I don’t see why the studio would want to do a sequel. The movie ended in a way that you didn’t need a sequel in the first place. who would be the bad guy for Avatar 2?

Anyway, Pandora (the Na’vi planet) is a moon of some gas giant, or something? There’s been talk of having the sequel involve the other planets orbiting that one, besides Pandora.

Though it’ll be interesting to see how Cameron uses this as leverage…he may get to make a $300 million movie about his right nut or something, and he could probably get away with it at this point, because he has Avatar 2 to hold over the executives’ heads.
Even then i don’t think it justifies having a sequel. I mean it isn’t like the Aliens franchise where it was feasable to do a sequel. to me there’s not much you could do in a way of sequel even if it does involve other planets.
They can just make something up. I can the teaser trailer now.

It’s funny but James Cameron could fuse both the Alien and Avatar universes together seamlessly. However, one is a thriller the other is a semi-family film.

Just got back from seeing it in RealD 3D. Really interesting viewing experience; got weirded out at first with the demo. Anyway, I liked the movie a lot. I wish there was a bit more character development so that I actually cared about certain deaths, but overall, good film. It’ll be interesting to see if all those deleted scenes make it to DVD/Blu-Ray (and if it does, in what form/quality).
