James Cameron's Avatar (Dec. 18th)

The trailers pretty much revealed the entire story. So I’ll be going to watch it to see if 3D is the future of cinema and hopefully have my senses blown. I’d like this movie to do well because I want Cameron to start on that Battle Angel movie, which will likely use the same technology.

 I want to see more of Sigourney’s Na’vi avatar…closest we’ll get to seeing her nearly nekkid…unless she birthday-suited in a movie with a plot I didn’t care for and thus missed, like Gorillas in The Mist.

not really interested in this movie at all.
i don’t like the look of it from the trailers, the aliens don’t feel right, or something.

also we don’t have an imax here, alos i don’t like the idea of 3d movies since i wear glasses.
2 pairs of glasses to watch a film?
fuck that.

also it is supposed to be all about watching it in 3d.

Maybe it’s because I’ve only seen one trailer and haven’t read about it much, but it seems good to me. I actually like the Na’vi, and the special effects look great. Worth $12 to me from what I can tell.

“if it wasn’t in 3-d and directed by james cameron would i want to see it? prolly not”

I wouldn’t see it if it wasn’t the movie it is either

no doubt

things like plot, character development, acting, music, etc have nothing to do with making a movie

only the dimension it is in and the director

Roger Ebert is the worst movie critic.

I have been waiting for this film for a while now and from it sequences it looks amazing. I will have to see this and enjoy the magnificence.

“things like plot, character development, acting, music, etc have nothing to do with making a movie”

I haven’t seen the movie. So obviously I took none of these things into account when forming my opinion on whether or not i’m going to see it. Going off the few reviews I’ve read, the trailers, and camerons past films - i’ll see it.

If you really want to get an idea of what James Cameron is trying to do with this movie, his talk in the latest issue of Wired really showcases the amount of work he’s done for this movie. He’s really had it in mind for a long while.

Maybe it’d be different in the theater but looking at the commercials I still think “CGI” rather than “real life alien that just looks odd to me”.

Heard good things though, plan to watch it.

everyone i know is meh and uninterested in the movie. i dont think it will do well

at least we are not watching avatar : the last airbender movie …

I’ll see it when I get the time to go.

so for those of you who know that you will be seeing it, will you want to see it in 3d or just a regular viewing or will you try both, and if you try both which will you do first???

i dont what type of impact it will have in 3d, like will it obscure my viewing pleasure? im not sure. the last 3d movie i saw, i think the quality of the film (visually) itself might have been compromised because i was watching it in 3d.

in the end, ill still prolly end up watching it in 3d.

im outi

Roberth

I’ve only seen one 3D movie and that was UP, not a great movie, but I can see alot of potential in this technology. I went to a VUE cinema the glasses sucked they were better suited for children, I don’t wear glasses so I found it distracting to begin with but you get used to them. I’m watching Avatar in a true IMAX cinema, from what I’ve heard their glasses are more like visors so you have a better viewing experience.

I think from the outset Cameron wanted this to be a 3D movie, so if you are ever going to watch a 3D movie this is the one, I fully expect a better experience viewing it in 3D rather than the normal format.

the visors are to enhance the 3d images, it’ the first film you’ll be able to see in 3d WITHOUT glasses

I don’t think many people understand what this film really is, im betting its not being hyped because they want the actual viewers to advertise it by word of mouth

Huh where did you hear that???

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-241532803911842846&hl=en&emb=1

but i heard that you have to wear the glasses. conflicting rumors, of course.

still excited

I have read it’s 2 hours of boring, melodramatic Dances with Smurfs cheese with an awesome, hour long aerial battle scene at the end.

They’ve already made Dances with Wolves, Dances with Japanese people (The Last Samurai), and Dances with Aliens (Avatar) so what’s next Hollywood? Dancing with Black People starring Tom Hanks as a former police officer who helps save the projects from evil developers? Dancing with Mexicans with John Cusack as an INS agent who joins illegal Mexican farm laborers?
