I just can’t see this movie as being all that good. I mean, what’s the draw? The Na’vi are unappealing, the story doesn’t look all that original, and impressive CG for the sake of it is overused. There’s nothing in there to see, really.
Not a bomb, but I don’t see this making more than $200M, tops. Not sure what Cameron had in mind when making this thing. He should have focused on Battle Angel instead!

I saw a commercial for this, then I saw ads all over everything from soda cans to magazines. I’m already sick of it and it isn’t even out yet. I’m more excited about the Mr. Fox movie, to tell the truth.
I have never seen Titanic and this is 75% of the reason why…I know the toryline the ending, etc…I dont’ see the point of watching it, nor do I really care about a love story featuring Lio. I’m actually excited for this one. I know the outcome/ending, but it looks as though the path to get there will be worth it. LOTR had a “iDunno” type ending - and that was the pull, the actual pathway to the end was just…boring ass walking. With this, its one of those pieces where you actually do need to see it in theatres to really ‘grasp’ the intended feeling and suspension of belief I have a feeling the intensity of the first flight scene alone wil lbe worth the cost of admission.

Not really. We talked some of this in the TF2 thread, factoring in total gross numbers, cross merchandising and everything, it will def recoup, in fact it will mroe than likely be one of those movies that does serious numbers on Blu-Ray…sorta like The Matrix…in the movies it did well, but it cleaned up shop on Blu-Ray. I fully expect this to break even in the box office and gross maybe 750 mill to a bill worldwide in the long run.

In my opinion, Titanic was really shitty. I dunno why James Cameron uses blue light for moonlight, it totally kills the movie for me. Same thing with T2, though I used to like that one a lot when I was a kid.

Ending means absolutely jack all if the journey to it is a pile of crap, Titanic is a very good movie but I don’t rate it as highly as others do (ugh Shawshank), LOTR is a big pile of over hyped crap the same with Pirates of Carribean 3.
Have people forgotten about Aliens. Humans Vs Aliens its the same again with Smurfahontas, I fully expect an epic battle with a lot of marines getting completely pwned

I will probably go see it, I think this type of movie is enjoyable in that setting. Now that HD TV’s are mainstream I can see people renting it. Just thinking about seeing these creatures in HD gets my imagination going. As far as the story goes I think it will suck, but that’s not why I am going to see it.
