James Cameron's Avatar (Dec. 18th)

THIS^^^^Repped ++

Minor spoiler:

That is what was good about the story, I don’t care if I’ve seen it before (so many movies out it is nothing but recycling) they did a hell of a job getting me into the story. Like you. I actually was like damn that fucking sucks when the tree fell down, the movie got me into the movie to the point where I felt for them. I didn’t cry like a bitch but I still felt really bad. I will not go as far as saying that this is the next step in movies but I will say that this simply put was a fucking badass movie that I really enjoyed, it did everything right, I would recommend it to everyone, and I want to see it again.

Sorry for expressing my opinion on this movie
Your post only makes sense if you’re assuming I even like all the other shit hollywood churns out
Which I don’t, and you know what assuming does

@ Sakiedo: Shut the fuck up, I’m a hater? coming from you, that’s a real laugh. be real, please. EDIT: Also, yeah the critics gave it great reveiws, but the consensus on RT even states that it is more a technical genius than a literary one

EDIT: And to the other guy telling me I’m a salty w/e, sorry for being disappointed that the vast majority of the moviegoing audience would rather ooh and ah at amazing visuals then experience a story that really captivates and makes you think. Perhaps I’m looking at this movie the wrong way, but I simply don’t think there’s anything in this movie to really write home about. Is it wrong that I get bitter when I see this mediocre movie and how much people are slobbering all over it already? no. i’d simply rather watch a movie that actually made me think instead of just SHOWING me everything and presenting me with a rehashed, watered down story that is prevalent in movie media already.

anyway, no point posting in this thread anymore
you guys think what you want, i merely gave my 2 cents. don’t really care if you guys think i’m in the wrong for not liking this movie.

Not for nothing bro but can you link your spoilers like the other spoilers have been please.

Dont need more Capt Sandy Vag like the guy complaining with a world of warcraft reference(thanks alot asshole for making me look that up) complaining about the plot elements transparency and then showing his net elitism saying the more we love it the more he hates it.

Side rant dude that attitude is why no one outside your immediate group of E friends likes you,no one wants to be around a negative Nancy all the time.

I for one would love for someone to point to a great epic that was not transparent or totally full of clich’s please point one out for me.

Until then please stop saying"Ah hate this movia cuz it aint ben hur".

How? I just tried a few different ways of hiding spoilers but SRK doesn’t seem to have spoiler tags

The general consensus seems to be this movie is captivating as hell
I dunno about you but an all-new world created with photorealistic CG so that your eyes aren’t going “fakefakefake” the whole time is about 80% of a captivating movie… because, after all, movies are a visual medium. Plus when you boil down almost any work of literature - stories, comics, books - you end up with the same few plots. If you ever want to be a good writer you should learn that good does not equal ONLY original and you will have to come to respect the craft that went into Avatar’s script
Like come on. Even the Golden Compass isn’t original when you get down to it, and I know you like those books.

is Jake gonna permanently become a Na’Vi?

yeah. he left his human body behind for good. I actually thought he would do it earlier in the movie, right after they tried to help Grace… his body was really just a liability after that

nothings particularly original anymore… i dont have a problem with it… nascars always the same but the way they run the race is whats different. same with all pro sports and, well, damn near everything.

harry potter is about a kid that riumphs over evil even though he is unremarkable… not original at all even if harry died at the end of the series it STILL wouldnt be original.

but what was remarkable was the level of depth in the potter world along with character interaction.

i stopped looking for movies to be the sixth sense or the usual suspects along time ago… its about the trip not the destination…

rollercoasters are always the same… doesnt stop me from getting on them a second, third 1000th time or whatever.

avatar was great because i got immersed in a world i had never thought of, a world where the inhabitants had a REAL LITERAL connection with there world… thats a first for me… so even though the PLOT was less than non obvious it was the details that had me like (i wanna be a navi)

which is what the movie is aiming for… a different “experience” than usual… hell if they start writitng books on this series i can tell you that i for one will be buying all of them… the world that cameron created is really that good.

SighI feel ya bro.

I honestly hope Cameron’s 3D technology will be infused into some next-gen VR gaming in the future. I wouldn’t mind going to a theme park that uses this awesome tech like the Spiderman ride, but REALER!:looney:

It’s been 2 days, and now I’m jonesin’ to see the movie again, this time at IMAX.

do it, looks sick on the IMAX screen. only problem with imax 3D is you really have to be as close to the center as you can manage… if you are to either side, you get this weird ghostly double effect on foreground stuff like you’ve gone cross eyed.
we got there 30 mins early and still got crappy spots… Apparently gaming can do this 3D stuff already too. Avatar: The Game has it, I’m told, dunno how well it works though.

he was talking about this on aots. they are integrating 3d into videogames and home theater systems.

except it would probably have blown up the unobtainium if they used it during the tree bombing. the question is, why the fuck didn’t they start digging immediately after the bombing, they’d have had plenty of unobtainium and been able to get the hell out of dodge before jake started his campaign.

also I have a 3D capable TV, just need to wait for the technology. can’t wait.

i would think this a very women friendly film.
there was hardly any action in it, just at the start and the end.

film is mostly a love story type thing with character developement.

He keeps on telling her he saw her movie, now she has to see his.

[details=Spoiler]didnt they offer him an operation to get his legs back? or was that out of the question since he rebelled against them?

oh well, he probably just wanted to live his life as a Na’vi with the hot blue alien.[/details]

Colonel Miles was the shit.

“Gas Mask” and then kicks the seal door through.

good movie.

Yeah, I gotta agree that the colonal is a memorable character. He needs more lines and screen time though. And yes, the 3d is a huge difference.
