James Cameron's Avatar (Dec. 18th)

Movie was great.

I feel bad for anyone who had to watch it in 2-D. The 3-D was simply the best I have ever seen. This is also the first time I can ever say that the CGI was flawless and never turned into cartoon mode for me.

Probably the most epic final battle I have watched on the big screen. Many moments when my theater started clapping and cheering.

My favorite part was when the new chief/main guy’s rival jumped off his flying creature to attack the people on the gun ship…shit was sooo gangsta. 2nd favorite part was when Michelle Rodriguez appears with her and her ship all done up in war paint.

Movie fucking owned.

Quaritch is badass.

Yeah, that whole slo-mo sequence was awesome. He was wrecking shop with just a bow, no arrows necessary.

That last 30 minutes was super epic awesomeness, but my favorite part was when Jake hoped on that BIG ass ship that was gonna drop the huge bomb on their ass. He owned everybody, threw that grenade in there, jumped on the Big Pimp dragon and BOOM. Although I gotta admit, that ship probably made a bigger explosion that what they were planning on dropping LOL.

1st off, when I left the theatre and went outside, stared at the sunset and realized something…

REAL LIFE FUCKIN’ SUCKS!:arazz:

All the vibrancy and color in the film was just beyond words…

THE COLORS DUKE! THE COLORS!!!

Pros-

-The CG was the most amazing thing I have ever seen anywhere! There were many points in the film where I couldn’t differentiate between the CG and the actual film. Jake Sully atrophied limbs, the foliage, everything.

The scene where the sea spray was hitting the cliffs blew me away. I couldn’t tell that it was fake at all!!!:wow:

-The details in the creatures as well as the brilliance in their anatomical design astounded me. Minor differences in the hybrid Na’vi and real Na’vi like separation of toes added to the believability. I also loved how the kept up with continuity with the “poisonous” atmosphere, like with the final scene with the Colonel.

-Colonel made a good nemesis. His final battle was quite hardcore and was a pretty smart sendoff.

-USB port ponytails and their integration was sooooo good.

-Solid, albeit semi-predictable story didn’t detract from the scope of the world and the message.

-Many cultural references like the Somoan “sharing of breath” and African/Native American philosophies made the Na’vi very like-able.

Cons-

-I know Cameron’s story was highly edited, due to time constraints, but I still wanted to know how the humans found this planet, the year they were in, and what happened to the earth exactly.

-The huge number of furry porn and AVs that will over-saturate the web next year. :bluu: :lame:[/details]

Lastly, I lmaoed at the mention of “Unobtainium.” I wonder if James Cameron watched that awful insert name of movie here and used this as an inside joke?

i believe the year was 2154…I forget but you can see it when Jake does his Video Logs located in the bottom right corner…

what a great movie, the ending just had me thinking.

p.s that Na’Vi chick was hot

Oh my god.

I NEED to watch this again in IMAX next week or something. Only watched it in regular 3D because IMAX sold out. :frowning:

This movie was beautiful.

<3F1

I watched this in 2D and it still blew me away, need to watch it in 3D now…

great movie, the story is totally generic tho.

Fern gully meets Pocahontas in a nut shell.

explanation

Spoiler

If I recall correctly 2154 or 2151, When he is hooked up to the tree he says something along the lines of, where the sky people come from there is no green they killed their mother and they are coming to kill you.

I turned up an hour early for the screening and there were hundred people already there, I’m going to watch it again in IMAX this time I will show up 2 hours early:bluu:

Do you think Michael Bay will sign up Cameron’s film classes - How to make a excellent movie with a simple plot.

I’m still kinda 0_o at the name “unobtain”-ium…like seriously…that did kinda get to me how it was named unobtainable…

Yeah, I was thinking Pocahontas/Fern Gully + Mech Warrior throughout. Amazing movie.

I particularly liked

Spoiler

That red dragon creature, and then the main dude’s capture of it later on when he remembered that prophecy thing the elders discusse

And of course him riding and using it in battle

Yes, the last few logs where dates in August 2154 if I’m not mistaken.

Seriously, I stepped outside and got back into the afternoon traffic, I was like “This is complete BULLSHIT”. I wanna go to Pandora

I was thinking the same thing, esp. Fern Gully when the animals were kickin’ ass in the end.

lol I feel you man, I feel you…

Oh and Unobtainium was also referenced in the movie “Core”, which is what I thought Cameron was making fun of.

Idon’t reember jack squat about ‘core’, either way its still a fictitous element, and them maintaining that name for something worth 20 billion or million whatever a kilo just doesn’t sit well with me. How hard is it to come up with a unique name. Hell someone came up with kryptonite bvefore it was actually ‘found’.

  • :bluu:

EDIT I don’t remmember the core because after I saw it, I snuck into a just starting “Old School”. then I finished off the evening with…“Willard”…and after seeing Willard, I never tried to sneak into a movie again… :shake: no I didn’t get caught, but the whole movie was like one big giant rick roll.

you fools are crazy for wanting go to Pandora, your 6ft ass is going to be something’s dinner. :wonder:

Such a great movie, the visuals in this movie were beyond what I expected and can say just simply wow. 3D helps this in so many ways. The story despite being a bit bland was told well and the actors didn’t suck. Great story, better graphics, good acting, badass fight scene, yeah i wanna watch it again.

Can’t wait to see this movie.
