The fucking film is just a cashgrab and a fucking bad one at that.
The series is done with T2.
First two flicks are amazing.
T1 is a better slasher movie than all the other shit that was out at the time, like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and shit, with a nice tasty dystopian cyberpunk feel to it.
T2 is a better straight up sci-fi action film than the other shit that was out at the time.
Now what does Genisys do better than Mad Max? Yeah nothing, the film is straight up garbage and all you motherfuckers going into the cinema for that shit instead of laughing about the hilariously bad acting and story from a home stream, are at fault for this piece of shit of a movie drawing even at the box office and even making a profit, so those motherfuckers can make another crappy film by the same fucking name.
I donât even look at the movie producers to be at fault for this one.
I look at you garbage ass retards that say dumb shit like âThe film isnât THAT badâ. Your fucking uneducated, shallow, bad taste piece of trash selves are at fault for garbage like this selling well.
lololololol, artvandelay so salty over a silly cashgrab of a flick. mind you, heâs a fucking post-modern connoisseur of the fine arts and enjoying terminator genisys might cause retardation, he starts becoming concerned about chromosomes and shit. just like your name, you do george costanza proud for being the pretentious dumbass you are irl. lolololol, gtfo here.
terminator genisys might be garbage to you but itâs awesome trash for the rest of the moviegoing public. they make bank like you never will.
What I would like to know, would you guys who say this movie was good have considered this movie good had it been released in the 80âs or 90âs when actual good movies were common? Or is it good because ainât shit released whatâs even remotely watchable?
Its watchable, I didnât leave the cinema thinking that was a waste of money.
Back in the 80âs and 90âs everything was awesome because I didnât know better at the time. Movies like Blade Runner I didnât enjoy but is now probably my favourite movie of all time. Similar to how kids canât get enough of Michael Bay movies, eventually theyâll see it for what it is.
For its general plot, no, i think it falls to terminator 1 and 2 easily.
I just got back from seeing it. Its watchable, but pointless. Unless youre really aching to find out who sent the terminators back to earlier times than previous, how john connor somehow knew to go back to 2014, there is no reason to watch further terminators, and yeah, you would have to be aching for it, because the first 1 doesnt leave you giving a shit.
Spoiled for length
[details=Spoiler]The storyline, and investment into it as the consumer is tossed out the window from a ton of illogical shit being done, even when characters have hindsight of whats going to happen already.
The best scene was with the og terminator skeleton vs kyle reese after he went back in time.
I think too much time and money was wasted in using cgi to somehow fit arnold back into the movie, and hes not a cameo like i thought. Hes legit in the movie from start to finish. The movie shouldve been a legit reboot, and not trying to fit itself into an already complicated universe filled with plot holes.
Like, in T2, everything makes a fairly decent amount of sense. The first terminator failed, so skynet sends a new upgraded one to kill john this time, and john sends a reprogrammed one to now protect him. Sarah is no longer an important target, john is the target now. Terminators collide, john gets away, and the next step is getting his mom because john tells t1 to. From there they get rifled up, and head to the source of it all, skynet. Sara was locked up while skynet was being developed, and the first terminators chip recovered, so she couldnt do anything if she wanted. They do all that, fight, and end of story.
T2 is clean, and to the point. It has its problems, but overall it fits, and it especially fits for the time. What i mean by that latter point, fits for the times, is this.
You know what, forget clarifying the latter point, this is basically terminator genisys in a nut shell.
Skynet sends back the original t1 to 1984, before getting shutdown in the future. The humans send back kyle reese to 1984, and while kyle is leaving, a terminator undercover as a human, but is not a t1000, attacks john. Kyles back in 84, but the first terminator is now killed by a terminator sent back from the future by the humans to protect sarah when she was 9, because skynet sent a t1 back to kill her as a kid. So essentially, kyle reese was already in an alternative timeline to begin with, at least from the one we traditionally know it as. Now in 1984, there is also a t1000 sent back. The t1000 gets into it with the terminator from when sarah was 9, gets destroyed, and now the mission is simply to destroy skynet. Apparently sarah and 9 year old sarahs terminator have been waiting for kyle all this time, and preparing for the t1000 also.
But wait
So kyle has had flashbacks of an alt timeline, and instead of going to the 90s to stop skynet again, he says they should go to 2017, because what has changed has already changed. They go to 2017, find that genisys is the new skynet, john connor has time traveled (arrived in 2014 actually to develop genisys, apparently with no redundancies either), and is no longer john connor, and they need to destroy genisys. They kill future john connor, dont have a baby, and ride off into the sunset, but not before kyle reese tells kyle reese something to remember as a kid about genisys.
Thats it, and its a convoluted mess compared to t1 and t2. A fresh reboot would have allowed them to play with new timeline fun, new characters, new terminators, blah blah. Instead they pigeon held themselves into plot holes galore, and are making a mediocre pile of, not so stanky, but kinda stanky, trilogy. [/details]
The funny thing is, the machines created john connor, because the humans wouldnt have sent back kyle reese, who impregnated sarah, if the machines didnt send back a terminator, or at least hid that they did better. lol
I find a lot of people are whining about plot holes, when there arenât really any. Not understanding how two timelines works, isnât a plothole, or a fault in the movie.
I thought the movie was pretty decent⊠better than Salvation and 3 actually. Was it 1 or 2? no but I enjoyed it and can see a lot of potential going forward.
I guess one could argue, you will find out in the sequels, but the purpose of sending a terminator back to 1973, 1984, and 2014, only to have genisys blown up due to pure laziness and not creating redundancies in the 3 years you had before kyle and sarahs arrival in 2017, is fairly stupid.
Also, how the fuck does og t1 from 84 know how to build a time machine, but new bio-organic terminator is stuck on only the quantum field phase, even though og terminator built that shit with what was available in 1984, vs 2014.
Again, maybe its all to be revealed in the coming terminators, and we will find out about the 70s terminators, why og terminator knew how to build a time machine, why new john connor built genisys with no redundancies, and was easily defeated, or why skynet waited for kyle to be sent back before infecting john connor. One could argue that.
Again, its watchable, and not horrifying, but if you still cannot top t1 and t2 in 2015, give up, and by default should technically be trash.
Terminator naturally has plot holes galore because of time traveling, and i think this is the first time ever addressing alternate timelines, which is usually a worse thing for a plot. I think it would have been better as a complete reboot, with a fairly linear plot like t1 or t2, no arnold, and more focus on being a good classic movie, then a 2 hour punch line.
I could write a plot for a better terminator reboot movie than genisys in 7 minutes. This shit really isnt that hard, especially when you have 4 movies, a tv show, comics, free fan novels, etc⊠on this shit. Sorry, 5th terminator movie, and id still rather watch t2, yeah, the box office might say one thing, but technically as writers, producers, and directors, you failed.
Just saw this, am defo in the same boat as the dudes who thought this was gonna be a horrifyingly piece of shit but was surprised that I actually enjoyed it somewhat. Jimmy just pointed out the flaws I didnt really dig and Furious was on the money about Queen Tits not cutting it as Sarah Connor.
Also fuck Jai Courtney, horrible Kyle Reese. 1, where the fuck after Judgement Day did this nigga find all the protein shakes and steroids to get so brollied up? 2, why is this idiot still getting work? Micheal Biehn set the bar far too high for this asshole, there was some nice nods to the OG terminator by how they recreated a lot of the scenes but they should have went with somebody who looks and ultimately can act like he just came from 20 years of pure hell on earth instead of this smiley dipshit.
Good movie, 6.5/10 for bringing back dem 80s vibes.
