She’s sort of always been the main character. Funny enough, the way that all the feminist frequency stuff complained that women were the ball in stories, John Connor is literally the ball of the Terminator series. Dude is the thing both sides are struggling over.
John was putting in work in Salvation. He’s also the one that sent Kyle Reese into the past.
Honestly the writers are basically screwing us out of the established storyline for the hell of it.
Ghostbusters got shit on because it’s script was garbage, none of the characters had chemistry and the acting was generally bad.
The cast should have just accepted the criticism and moved on. But several of them screamed people being sexist and misogyny. Which wasn’t the case. It was just a bad movie. But because of the cast outcry people made that the case.
^^ He succeeded in stopping Skynet. That’s why he became expendable to the story. No real purpose for John to be around when Skynet has been defeated once and for all.
Arnie’s Terminator character is also now a leftover reminient of a timeline that will never be. So it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he gets axed in this movie too. I mean, his characters almost always die in these movies but, that goes double for this one. Plus he’s an evil man and we must make way for the Whamen.
Well yeah. That’s the whole point of a female (soft)reboot afterall. Get rid of established male characters and replace them with the Whaman. The first eventful thing that happens at the beginning, is young john dying.
^^ Again, i at least appreciate that they are fully acknowledging what came before. They aren’t trying to invalidate the efforts of Sarah & John & Arnie in T2, and they actually did succeed in taking out Skynet and concluding that storyline. This is a new bigbad entirely with Sarah & Arnie tagging along for the ride.
Unlike hot garbage like the 2016 Ghostbusters flick. Which didn’t want to pay respect to anything that came before it, during their sleazy, all-whamen takeover. They didn’t even at least alter the title try to differentiate it from the original! Those assholes seriously tried to co-opt the universe/franchise for themselves, and remake it in their ‘woke’ trash image. I’m so happy that flopped.
At least this all-whamen soft reboot of Terminator, is being more respectful about it.
