Ok so the general consensus seems to be Saturday.
What kind of time frame seems good that day? We’ve been given the ok any time between 4 or 5pm until about midnight. A magic tourney meets weekly for a few hours starting at 630pm but we can share the room with them. They will be in one corner, us in the other with the t.v. setups and stuff. They can have extra tables for us and said they’d have power strips. So that’s a few less things to worry about. They also have chairs to go with said tables. Lucky.
So we need a time frame. How long do we want to be playing these things? “How big is a ‘big enough’ time window?” is the question.
Is a 5 dollar cover per person to give (100%) to the store reasonable for everyone? Just so they don’t hate us and get sick of it. On tourney nights we can just have pool entry as a separate fee paid to whoever wants to run whichever pool for their favorite game.
Also. Do we want a certain game that is there every night? Do we want to have theme weeks like… one week is SF style stuff, one is MK or something… marvel 2 and 3 and cvs or something one night? I dunno… SNK night? Or is that too much to bother with? Maybe one primary game and a rotating cast of secondary games on side “setups”? Let me know what you all think about this. The games I have personally to offer up would be (xbox360 unless otherwise): SSFIV:AE, MvC3, 3rd Strike (PS2 or OE when it hits), BB:CS2, Vampire Savior (PS2).
Anyone who is bringing a setup and has some games just PM me what you are willing to bring weekly and I’ll post a list of what we actually have so we all know what is going down. If you guys want MK9 we need someone with that. Same goes for other stuff like Smash or TvC or whatever else. We just need some way to organize the games so people know which game is when or so we can at least all have a focus game and the stuff to the side is a benefit. Whichever way works best.
theme weeks are a good idea, the only problem i have with them is if people who arent too terribly interested in the one game were playing that week decide “oh well, guess im not coming this week.” to me thats no good cause i want everybody in, even though im sure thats impossible. maybe what we could do is have 2 fighting games playing every week and we change depending on how many people have said game? to mee that would be better as even though your game may not be up there that week theres still one other game you may be interested in.
so one week we have MK and AE. another week we have MvC3 and CvS2 and goes from there. and the last week of every month we pick our “Tournament game of the Month” and if anybody else is interested we can have a “Mystery game Tournament” where somebody can just bring competitive fighting game and we play that. anybody object to that?
I almost feel like picking one to always have would kind of lure some people in and get them to try the other “off” game (or two if we get another setup) when they normally wouldn’t. But… I’ll wait and hear what more people think. Just offering that idea up.
edit: Or I mean we could even just take a vote each night or switch off after a while or… whatever. There’s really no restrictions.
Same here , if there is a tournament i hope it would start registration noon or later. Got to have my church going on. “God I thank you for all your blessings, and please have Capcom nerf the twins”
Mystery game tournement: power stone 2! lol
I’ll update the google doc to note if anyone can bring anything for tournaments.
I can bring a PS3 or 360 or Wii.
A 27" lcd tv and hope to be buying a evo type monitor soon.
Games I can bring:
MVC3- 360
MK9- PS3
SFIV:AE - 360 or PS3 (disc when it comes out)
MVC2 - I think i have the DLC one, but if not i have the best port (Dreamcast)
I also have street fighter anniversary for 3rd strike goodness.
Weekends are next to impossible for me. I work till 2am Saturday and Sunday is family time with the fiance and kids. However, that should be changing soon, so I guess I’d say…Sunday? Starting after church because even if I don’t go I can respect people needing that time to go and pray for Capcom to fix things. lol
other note: we should consider having a weekday planned out for casuals because not everyone can make it to weekend meetups, i am offering my apartment as a weekday meet-up, so which weekdays are good for ya’ll?quote this so we dont get confuzzled
its looking like Sunday is quickly becoming the day people want to do this. does anybody plan on staying in church at 4 or 5? i dont go, but like everyone here i respect everyones right to practice their religion on the days they can. so is 4 or 5pm fine then? thats the time we can do our thing and i imagine everyone will be done with Church anyway by that time.
@Birds, I guess if we gonna do that itd be AE or MvC3 , although i have neither at the moment.
I have both for 360 so that should be alright.
Yeah it does look like Sunday is a better day. Hmmm… Ok.
So if we go Sunday the start time would probably be 5pm? So anyone with setups should be there around 4 or 4:30 so we have some time to set stuff up.
I have a 27" Asus LCD monitor that I can bring so that’s at least two setups there already. I need to double check on some other stuff and I’ll pop back in and let you know what we have so far and what we might need.
sunday is fine and oddly enough on the days I come out I can catch church on the stream later and I know my church would probably appreciate that fight money!!!
Ok so obviously we don’t want to start this Sunday because of the 4th of July holiday weekend right?
Or should I plan for that being the first night? I’m inclined to not start on the bad foot like that but… let me know.
As far as setups we currently have pledged:
1 Asus HD LCD monitor 27"
1 HD LCD T.V. 27"
1 CRT
2 xbox360
1 ps2
1 ps3
1 xbox TE stick
1 custom sanwa xbox stick
2 Hori RAP2s (ps2)
Assorted games listed in earlier posts.
Sying pledged either a ps3 or xbox (i have both listed currently). Which is preferable? Do we want to make sure we have one ps3 and one xbox setup or should we just go all xbox since it seems we have more players that own those?
Basically with that list of stuff I’m seeing two “high end” setups with “bigger” games on them and then the ps2 can just play 3s and VS and stuff on the CRT off to the side.
i have a 24 inch Dynex 1080p set
pretty much every fighting game for PS3 cept AE and MvC3
a Dreamcast with every fighting game (even the imports)
a SNES with Killer Instinct 1
and an N64 for Killer Instinct Gold
im actually working on a having my binder outfitted with FG guides from Gamefaqs for games I or We dont really play enough, so anybody who needs to look at something quick and can just look at it and understand what theyre doing.
EDIT: i DO NOT play on 360 cause the pad is pure shit. so unless im borrowing a stick i aint playing on it. ill bring my PS3 for those that want to play on it and my dreamcast just cause i can and i love it so much.
@Birds i dont care if we do it on the 4th because i dont think i have plans but im sure some people do so ill wait for a response.
Note that my PS3 is a OG PS3 20 gig. I have upgraded it to 250 gigs and its backwards compatabile. The only limitation is that its wired ethernet only. That means all my patches will have to be done either on site or the day before.
birds! Is this in 5 points near the wendy’s or down closer to the publix? Just want to get my landmarks straight. Is there anywhere we can park without parallel parking?
It’s Park and King so it’s actually a bit deeper in. It’s near the old Art Bar if you know that spot. If not then the best landmark is probably the Walgreens on the corner, the Comic Book shop (universe of super heroes), Sumo Sushi, Cool Moose, Jackson’s, the old pharmacists shop, the church on the corner… the Laundry mat next door… the Bank, the Burger King, or possibly Carmine’s Pizza just down the street… If you know any of those landmarks. Park and King. Google map it. 1271 King st. Facebook page again: http://www.facebook.com/athammerhall
LordXMugen seems to have PS3 covered but having a back up “on deck” is always good. Shit if we can fit 4 setups then… the more the merrier I say. So I guess keep it ready and we’ll see how stuff develops.
Still need more input on whether we should actually start this thing on July 3rd or if we should wait because of the holiday.
I’d say wait until next week. One, its a holiday, two it may be too soon for people to get off work/ get away from their wives, and three tyger has a tourney in OP that same weekend
I get back on Wednesday but I think I’m gonna be busy my first couple days back but I’d be fine with that on Sunday. My friends might plan something but idk. I have CVS2 for ps2, and Tekken 6 AE and MK9 for 360. I can’t really bring anything other than that.
